I watched my daughter leave in dismay. Her assistant, Shan Johnston, pressed her palms together and bowed toward me before she ran after my obstinate daughter.

I called out her name. She raised her hand to let me know she had acknowledged the call, but she did not stop moving. I thought she would stop, but she didn’t.

The realization that my relationship with my daughter is falling apart because of Victor Gunner made my blood boil, but I would not give Pepper the pleasure of knowing that.
