Chapter 1

It was evening, with the soft wind whistling through his ears and sending slight shivers down his spine.

He cared less about that. All that engulfed his soul was the need to keep walking farther away.

Taking careful and calculative ambles, he strolled farther off into the woods.

At a distance, he caught a glimpse of a glimmer of light, flashing at a mountain top. As though that were a signal to him, he hurriedly walked towards there, following a pathway that stood as a guide.

He came across a meadow that looked so green and lovely. It was a pleasant sight and almost immediately, he felt at peace.

The mountains in the surrounding had peaks that looked sharp and at the same time, cruel. The sky above the meadow was pleasurable and a feast for the eyes. It was bright blue and filled with pairs of fluffy white clouds.

A calm and clear river ran through the center of the meadow and as he approached it, he became more certain and convinced that he had finally found peace; something his heart sought and desired.

He crouched low until his hands were one with the river. Abruptly, he closed his eyes to allow the silent tears that clouded them to trickle down his cheeks until they dropped into the river.

The natural sound of the meadow, along with that of the water and the whispering of the wind, made him break into a louder and much fiercer sob.

Never in his life have he experienced such peace he felt at the moment.

Just then, he heard a melodious feminine voice, singing aloud from a distance. This caused him to jerk up to his feet while opening his eyelids to search for where the voice came from.

"That can't be the voice of a human! It's certainly that of an angel", he mumbled, swallowing hard and looking around.

Her voice was sweet and mellifluous. It came straight into his ears and down to his heart, making him melt in anxiety and hope.

He wanted to see the angel that sang with such voice, he was bent on discovering who it was.

He approached the mountain where he had earlier seen the glimmer. From all indications, the song came from there.

He strained his eyes, hoping to see a glimpse of who it was. However, irrespective of how he tried, it only became more blurry.

Almost immediately, he saw her back and her long black hair that danced in unison with the song she sang.

All he wanted to see was her face and so, he trudged towards where she sat.

“Ding-dong”, he heard the sound of a bell that rang straight into his ears.

“Ding-dong”, it rang again, making him groan angrily, still with his eyes closed.

He would rather not wake up. He was at the verge of discovering the identity of the beautiful long-haired lady.

His quest to discover that failed because for the third time, the bell rang into his ears. This time, he jumped off the bed with a large frown plastered on his face.
