Chapter 4

Emily gulped hard as she stared at Richard who walked into the restaurant and headed straight to the table at the back.

That was his usual spot, and it seemed to have become a norm for him.

The restaurant wasn't as fancy as one would expect for someone of his status.

It was one of the ways he used to relax whenever he felt so sad and emotionally drained.

At those points, he resolved to going to the restaurant to watch people of low class and status who were seemingly happy and fulfilled with their lives.

“Would you go and take the order of our customer?” The manager said to Emily with a cold voice.

Emily swallowed hard as she tried to maintain stability while walking.

She couldn't decipher why she felt so uneasy and nervous whenever he showed up at the restaurant.

There was something about him, something hidden and difficult to clarify.

Unknowingly, she became troubled and hoped to know what disturbed him.

Richard always smiled whenever he came to the restaurant, and it wasn't out of place on this day.

He sat at the far end of the restaurant, where he quietly observed everyone around.

At intervals, people lifted their heads to look towards his direction; clearly surprised that he was coming to eat in a place so lowly and above his class.

He sighed deeply as a flush of sadness crept into his heart.

Almost immediately, he recalled a flash of the dream he had earlier in the morning and unknowingly, his face curved into a smile.

That wasn't the first time he had such a beautiful dream. For some reasons, it has become a reoccurring experience.

It became something he looked forward to and each night he slept, he wished to catch a glimpse of her in his dream.

He had no idea of whom the strange lady in his dream was, but one thing he knew for sure was that he was usually excited to meet with her in the dream.

He sighed again and lifted his head to meet the curious stares of Emily.

She had approached his table and tried talking to him when she observed how lost he was. For a minute, she was taken aback and couldn't help but wonder the mystery surrounding the strange man.

That seemed to catch her attention, making her lose track of her job to take his order.

“Can I help you?” Richard asked in a deep and yet, gravelly clam voice.

Emily gulped down hard as beads of sweats started forming on her forehead.

Everything seemed to be happening fast for her, and she couldn't ascertain why she felt how she did.

She shouldn't get carried away because her job was on the line.

“Your order sir…”, She muttered as she lowered her eyes to the floor.

Richard's eyes seemed to be bulging into her soul, and she was unable to handle the heat she felt from them.

“I would have my usual meal”, Richard replied and narrowed his gaze away.
