Kara’s POV

The video had just ended.

Nia’s face was hidden, her voice distorted but we all knew it was her. There was no denying it. The room was dead silent, then came the whispers, soft at first, then louder, like a wave building strength.

Dylan stepped into the center, his presence dark and commanding. His voice cracked like thunder.

“What you’ve just watched is a video of Nia Theon Gasper purchasing the distant poison, Shedco. The same one that laced the dagger used to stab my mate.”

He pointed at the floor where the severed, lifeless head of the dealer stared back at the crowd.

“That’s the dealer’s head,” he said coldly, his hands tucked in his pockets, calm like death. “Hope you love your present, Sister-in-law.”

Gasps rippled through the crowd as eyes widened.

“Nia… is this true?” It was Father who spoke, voice heavy with shock. “You tried to kill your Luna?”

The room spun with disbelief. Even Aunt Jade looked frozen.

But Nia? She said nothing. Her head hung low, body trembling

  • BITTEN   Two could play this game

Dylan's POV Seeing them here made my blood boil. I wanted them both gone, far away from my mate. The fact that Nia had once tried to take Kara's life burned through me like wildfire. It took everything in me not to shift and tear her to pieces in front of everyone. My wolf was restless, pacing just beneath the surface. We felt challenged. That the woman who had nearly killed our mate was walking around unpunished was a direct insult. And worse, she dared to smile like nothing had happened. Then I noticed Theon. His pathetic little wave toward Kara didn’t go unnoticed. She ignored him completely, of course. My mate’s life was being threatened under my own roof.I had plans for Nia. And when I was through with her, she would never dream of playing the bitter bitch again.Alpha Deric had me cornered in small talk for thirty agonizing minutes. The formalities, the hollow congratulations, the ceremonial handshakes, they were all distractions I barely tolerated. The moment I could slip aw

  • BITTEN   I'm glad I don't disappoint

Kara's POVStanding in front of the full-length mirror, I gave myself one last look. The white body-hugging dress Kelly had picked clung to every curve like it had been stitched onto my skin. It kissed the dip of my waist, the swell of my hips, and melted like sin over my legs. I looked like trouble and tonight, I planned to enjoy every damn second of it.My hair was curled into soft waves that framed my face like a halo of firelight. I felt beautiful—no, I was beautiful and for once, I didn’t doubt it. Every detail tonight screamed confidence, power and seduction. His scent arrived before he did, wild cedar, fresh rain, he walked further and stood behind me, smirking like he’d caught me doing something wicked."You look so beautiful," Rodrigo murmured.I smirked right back. “I don’t remember you being my date tonight.”He laughed, stepping closer until his reflection eclipsed mine. “My life’s too precious to risk stealing an Alpha’s date.”Then he pulled out a small box, and I turned

  • BITTEN   Outlawed for a reason

KARAThe first thing I felt was warmth, soft, steady, and deeply familiar. The scent that curled into my lungs was rich and unmistakable. Sandalwood and cedar. Faint smoke. Him. My eyes peeled open slowly, the ceiling above me swimming in a soft blur before sharpening into focus. I was back. Back in our room at the pack house. Everything was quiet except the faint hum of the walls and the rhythmic beat of water striking porcelain. My head throbbed with a dull ache, a whisper of war still pulsing at my temples, but I was alive. The memory came in flashes, I had killed a pure blood. I won.I turned my head, the sheets shifting under me as I took in the room.Golden light filtered through the thick drapes. The bedding smelled like us, like sleepless nights, snarled sheets, and whispered confessions. But it was the sound of water that pulled my attention. Steady, strong. The bathroom door creaked. And then he stepped out.A single towel clung to his hips, low enough to make me forget ho

  • BITTEN   Burn the world for her

Dylan’s POVThe car skidded to a stop.I didn’t wait for the doors to unlock—I shoved mine open and jumped out before the engine even cooled. The air was sharp and cold, biting at my skin, but I didn’t feel it. I hadn’t felt a damn thing since I got the news.Rodrigo and Craig followed behind, trying to keep up, but they might as well have been ghosts. My blood was fire. The elevator was too slow. My feet slammed against the tile the moment the doors parted, Craig yelling for me to wait, but fuck waiting. My mate was in pain. And someone was going to pay for that.Yesterday’s combat had been brutal enough, but we didn’t know the worst of it then.Tiffany. That cowardly, venomous bitch. The doctor confirmed it this morning, Kara’s stab wound hadn’t just been deep. It was poisoned. The blade had been laced with Shedco, an ancient, outlawed toxin made of silver, dragon ash, Wolfsbane. It is a werewolf killer. It was designed to bring down Alphas. My mate was barely holding on, even after

  • BITTEN   Dead weight

Kara’s povTiffany’s wolf growled, deep, low, threatening. She wasn’t pacing anymore. She was ready to lunge.I stood there, blood leaking from the stab wound in my side, my legs barely holding me up. Everything was spinning, too fast, too loud. The roar of the crowd faded into a dull hum, like I was underwater. This was it.One mistake. One slow second. That’s all it would take to end me.Across the cage, Tiffany’s wolf bared her teeth. Her grey coat bristled, her eyes burning with one clear goal, rip me apart.I could hear Dylan’s voice somewhere behind the noise. Yelling my name. Screaming for me to fight. But my head was full of static. My thoughts drifted to everything that led to this moment. The girl I used to be. The fight to get here. All the blood, the pain, the lies.Is this how it ends?I didn’t know if it was the blood loss or the fear, but my knees gave out. I dropped hard to the ground. Gasps echoed around the cage. Dylan’s scream ripped through the air, desperate and r

  • BITTEN   Steel and blood

Author’s POVThe cage was alive.Iron bars rattled under the weight of excitement, the heavy scent of sweat, blood, and rising testosterone thickening the air. Torches flared in their sconces, casting long, slashing shadows across the worn arena floor. The crowd of wolves growled and shouted from the stands like beasts waiting for the first taste of flesh.Inside the steel circle, two women faced each other, one cloaked in silence, the other in fire.Kara stood still, blade gripped tight in her hand, her expression unreadable as her gaze drifted to the weapons that had been laid out. It didn’t surprise her that Tiffany had chosen the twin swords, curved, elegant, deadly. And much too heavy for her. But the girl had always been too proud to admit her own limits. Now she wielded the blades with raw, reckless rage.Across the cage, Tiffany's lips curled back into a sneer, her teeth gleaming. Her breathing was already erratic, her movements uncoordinated, fueled by emotion more than dis

The car eased through the crowded entrance like a blade slicing through fabric. Dylan’s knuckles were white on the steering wheel, jaw tight. I sat beside him in silence, eyes fixed on the swarm of bodies that moved like a restless tide across the field. The space was packed.Pack members lined every inch of open ground, their voices rising in anticipation. Wolves, elders, and dignitaries from neighboring packs had come to witness blood. To watch me bleed—or win. The field had been transformed; strung lights glowed softly in the approaching dusk, casting gold over the makeshift arena where someone would lose everything tonight.Dylan looked at me. I caught his gaze for only a second, but it was enough. There was so much in his eyes—worry, anger, pride, love. I couldn’t hold it. I looked away first. He parked further from the crowd, taking a more secluded route, ever protective. I stepped out of the car and inhaled deeply. The air smelled like cut grass, sweat, tension, and pinewood

  • BITTEN   The mystery man with a bird tattoo

For a fleeting moment, I just sat there—eyes wide, pulse deafening in my ears, breath held like it might anchor me to something real. The last ten seconds had knocked the air out of me. Across from me, both men watched in silence. Dylan especially. I could feel him clawing at the edge of my mind through the bond, trying to get in—trying to feel what I was feeling. But I shoved him out. Locked the door and swallowed the key.Now wasn’t the damn time.If anything, I’d come to realize one brutal truth: my enemies were multiplying faster than I could count. Just the other day we uncovered Adora’s betrayal, and now this? Another snake, another threat.“Kara…” Dylan’s voice cut through the air, soft but strained, coated in that anxious edge he never let anyone hear—except me.“You really don’t have to worry much about this. We have everything under control.”I said nothing. He exchanged a glance with Rodrigo, then added, “Rodrigo’s right. You have nothing to fear.”I scoffed under my breat
