CHAPTER FOUR

CHAPTER FOUR

"He's here, Alpha" Lucian announced as he entered the room with two guards dragging Gwydion along with them.

Gwydion was the last surviving wizard spared by Zephyr when he went on a killing spree. He kept him alive for times like this.

"What does the highly esteemed Alpha want from a lowly wizard like me?" Gwydion questioned unenthusiastically. He was sick of being kept in that dark dungeon, it was even better to be dead than to be stuck in there.

"What did you do to my pack?" Zephyr walked up to him and held him by the chin.

"What could I have done?" Gwydion asked with a scoff.

He showed Zephyr his hands,  "not when you put this restraining bracelet on me"

Zephyr knew that Gwydion could not have done anything, he just wanted to be sure that the restraining bracelet was working perfectly.

The bracelet was meant to suppress his powers to prevent him for escaping the cell. If he had his powers, those measly iron bars wouldn't have been able to cage him.

Zephyr, infact had a clue of who was behind this attack but he didn't want to confirm his suspicion.

"I have a task for you"

"If that will make you remove this bracelet."

He stretched his arms forward, "then I'm ready to do anything"

"Sure!" Zephyr said lazily.

"What will you have me do?" Gwydion asked impatiently. He wanted to get rid of this uncomfortable bracelet as soon as possible. It was bruising his skin.

"Diablerie is missing" Zephyr spoke but he was yet to complete his statement when Gwydion interrupted him with a hearty laugh.

"It's pleasing to see someone taking from you rather than the other way around"

He was really glad that Zephyr was getting a taste of his own medicine.  Zephyr does anything he pleases without caring of the outcome. He'd personally love to commend the person who was challenging Zephyr but at the same time, he feared for the life of that daring soul.

Gwydion's chuckle died down when he saw the look on Zephyr's face. If he wasn't of any use to Zephyr, he would have been long dead and he didn't want to try his luck.

"You'll do your thing and find out who invaded this pack and how they managed to'' Zephyr said nonchalantly as though he wasn't bothered by the ongoing disturbance.

"I will need some things though" Gwydion requested.

To find out whoever was behind the intrusion, he needed some ingredients to get it done.

"Lucian will assist you" Zephyr said.

Gwydion nodded and listed all he needed to Lucian.

Lucian immediately went on a search for them.

It didn't take long for him to get back and the conjuring started.

Gwydion was totally engrossed in his conjuring while the elders were tensed and nervous. They really wanted to know who was behind this but they were scared that it'd be someone they couldn't handle, someone stronger than their Alpha, given the fact that the person managed to break into their pack.

Lucian looked worriedly at Zephyr but the man didn't look a bit bothered.

Although Zephyr looked calm and relaxed. Deep down, he was actually thinking about all the things he would do to whoever it was that had the guts to enter into his pack uninvited.

He would slowly torture him, cut his fingers one after the other, slice him open, before finally devouring him. He would make sure that their death was slow and painful.

"It is done!'' Gwydion finally spoke, breaking his line of thoughts.

"So, who is it?" One of the elders asked impatiently.

"Slow your horses" Gwydion laughed. It was really funny seeing their anxious faces.

"Are you telling us or not?" Another elder asked. This wizard was really annoying, no wonder Zephyr locked him up in that dark dungeon, he thought.

"Alright, Alright. I will tell you." He said, raising his hands up as though he was surrendering.

"Enough with the jokes. Who is it?" Zephyr asked. His voice shut them up.

"It's the rogues." Gwydion revealed, followed by gasps from the elders, making Lucian roll his eyes. They were really dramatic.

"The rogues?" Zephyr asked, just to be sure.

"Yes."

That damned Antonio, Zephyr thought He was like a thorn in his flesh. How many times did he have to deal with him for him to know his place?

If not for the moon goddess that had forbidden him from killing unprovoked, he'd have killed him a long time ago. After all, that was all he lived for. Killing rogues.

They were annoying creatures and he wished more than anything to eliminate all of them after what they did to him.

"I've had enough of him!" Zephyr clenched his jaw and bone cracking sounds echoed in the quiet room. He was really angry that his wolf wanted to emerge.

"It's not who you think it is" Gwydion stopped him before he could transform.

"What do you mean?" Lucian asked.

"It's not Antonio"

Antonio was the leader of the rogues and apart from him, no one would have been brave enough to invade his pack.

"If it's not Antonio, who then?" Zephyr asked, he had calmed down a little.

"I don't know." Gwydion said, looking puzzled too.

"But you just said it's a rogue" one of the elders told him.

"it's certainly a rogue, but a stronger force is backing him up"

A stronger force? Lucien thought. Who could it be?

As if sensing their confusion, Gwydion spoke up.

"they seem to have a witch and a very strong one at that with them"

"I doubt this is true, check it again." Zephyr said.

"Why do you say so Alpha?" Lucien asked.

"I made sure to kill all of them. That's except him" he pointed at Gwydion.

"How are you sure it's a rogue?" An elder spoke up, changing the topic.

"I could smell their scent even though the rogue tried to mask it"

"What do they want with Diablerie?" Lucian pondered.

"I don't care. All I know is that there's going to be blood!" Zephyr took a stride towards the door.

"You can't, Alpha!" Lucian called back for him. Fortunately, he listened and stopped on his tracks.

"What do you want?"Zephyr was already pissed off and he didn't want to add to his anger.

"You can't." Lucian repeated

"And why is that?"

"Because you don't have a reason to kill them"

"Is invading my pack and stealing Diablerie not enough reason?" Zephyr asked sarcastically.

"It is but..." He trailed.

"But what?"

"The moon goddess mustn't know that you kept back a magical mirror and a wizard when you were asked to destroy everything.'' Lucian explained calmly and the elders nodded in agreement.

Lucian's words made sense to Zephyr but his claws itched to tear someone apart, so he countered.

"They also seem to have a witch and they stole my mirror so we're even"

"That's not how to do things" Lucian tried to explain, "if you attack them now, the moon goddess will eventually find out that you were housing the wizard and that you disobeyed her order."

"I wasn't, he was in my dungeon."

"It's technically the same thing." Lucian said while rolling his eyes in amusement, earning a glare from Zephyr.

"All I'm trying to say is that we should attack slowly. Let's make a plan, we shouldn't just barge in on them. They're obviously skilled." Lucien said gently trying to dissuade Zephyr.

Zephyr took a deep breath and sat down. Even though he didn't want to agree, Lucian was right. That was basically why he chose him as his beta. He was rational and very wise.

Sensing that Zephyr had taken his advice, Lucian turned to the elders "you need not to worry, we'll take care of it."

"We hope so." The one who seemed to be the oldest spoke.

"the pack, more especially, the women and the children need to be protected." another elder added.

"We understand" Lucian said.

Zephyr wasn't speaking again. It was as though he was still plotting something in that devious mind of his.

"We'll take our leave now" Another elder said and they all left.

Finally!

Zephyr sighed as if to say. This elders were suffocating. If he had his way, he would have killed every single one of them a long time ago.

Ugh! He really wanted to kill someone. Anyone at all.

He suddenly rose from his seat, startling Lucian.

"Where are you going?" Lucian asked worriedly. It looked like Zephyr didn't take his advice.

"Are you monitoring me?"

"I just want to know where you're going incase someone asks"

"Who would ask?"

True. No one would ask.

"Just tell me where you're going." Lucian said.

"I'm going for a run" Zephyr said and strolled out but stopped when he was at the door, "send that freaking wizard back to his cell." with that, he walked out.

Gwydion sighed disappointedly. He thought they had forgotten about him or at least let him go since he had worked for them but it seemed like this Alpha was simply heartless.

"It's not my fault" Lucian told him comfortingly and took Gwydion by his shoulder, back to the cell.

"he will probably release you for good sooner or later"

"Why do you think so?" Gwydion asked.

"We are still in need of your help"

"What makes you think I'd help you and your cold hearted Alpha?" Gwydion asked.

"You will." Lucina said confidently, "especially since you have something to live for" he added.

Hearing his words, Gwydion quietly entered his cell and sat at the corner looking downcast.
