JAKE'S POV

I was going through the business plans, flipping through pages and marking important notes when Caspian’s phone buzzed in my hand. My gaze instinctively fell on the name displayed above the document I was checking out.

“Lyra?”

The name on his screen shot through me like a lightning bolt, making my entire body jolt. I held tighter on the phone, my heart pounding in my chest as I stared at the name glowing on the screen like some twisted joke.

I batted my eyelid once, twice and the third time hoping my senses were playing tricks on me but It didn’t go away. Every fibre in me pulled hard inside me urging me to minimize and find out who this Lyra is.

The name has haunted my every breath, every waking hour since the day she vanished. I had searched every possible realm, spoken to the Moon Seers, even interrogated rogues in the dungeons—and yet nothing. And here it was, her name… lighting up another man’s phone.

What are the odds she was who I was looking for? What if it’s a diff

LYRA’S POV“Ahh!” I groaned in pain, rubbing the back of my head as my eyes slowly flickered open. My spine ached as I pushed myself up. Looking up to the height I had crashed down from, I was thankful I wasn’t lame already. The ray of light filtering into the hole burned my eyes as I looked up.I tried to stand up when I felt something curling around my foot. I froze instantly, my heart racing. “Calm down, Lyra! Take a deep breath!” I muttered to myself, my breath shaking. Could it be a snake? Perhaps some wild creature living down here. I felt sweat beginning to gather on my forehead and face. If it were a snake, I bet Tara would have sensed it. I knew dogs and snakes weren’t the best of friends- at least not a ferocious one like Tara. “Tara! Tara!” I whispered but got no response. Tara was still blacked out from the fall. I summoned the courage to look down and instantly freaked out.“Get off my feet!” I panicked, thrashing and flinging my feet to swing it off but it neither moved

  • BLOODLINE OF THE MOON    CHAPTER 125

JAKE'S POVI grunted my way up from the dirt, after being pushed into the wall by a brute force. Whatever Aemond did was a concrete reason why he should never wield the pendant. It was just the tip of the destruction that would hit the entire werewolf kingdom.Voices and hurried footsteps from medics and survivors echoed as they rushed the injured to the infirmary. I finally got to my feet dusting and coughing out debris from my lungs while I took a walk around the scene. It was then it dawned on me that I hadn't seen Lyra after the shit I heard. Panic set in.Smoke still curled from the crumbled arena walls, dust choking the air like it refused to settle, but I could care less about it.My boots pounded against the ground, blood and ash sticking to the soles like guilt. Bodies were being carried out, some limp, others groaning in pain. But none were Lyra's. It gave me some sense of relief not finding her in such a horrible state but still, it made way for a much bigger worry. What i

AEMOND'S POVI rolled off Jake's body, my eyes widening in shock. I quickly reached my pendant, but I couldn't feel her heartbeat through it anymore. My breath hitched!“No! No! It can't be possible!” I muttered under my breath. My veins, pulsing on my forehead. I stepped over Jake wanting to go in search of her when a strong grip on my leg swept me off the floor, landing me hard on the tiny pebbles and cartridges scattered all over the floor.“Argh!” I grunted in pain from the collision.“You son of a b**tch,” Jake snarled at me, punching so hard on my nose, I felt it shift.I held a hand over it, pressing down the bridge of my nose to stop it from bleeding.“You think I'd let you sneak into my life and take everything I have worked for? You have the balls to step in here to take my Luna, after you murdered our unborn child?” Jake hissed with a scowl on his face.“Hahaha!” I mocked him with a loud laugh, sniffing back the blood dripping from my nose. “Is that the best you can do?” I

LYRA'S POVI couldn't get to take my eyes off Jake for a second as we sat listening to the sermon from the priest. The pain in his eyes, the tension on his shoulders, and the unspoken words hanging on his lips made my heart sink. I became edgy that I forgot my safety depended on me sitting back and not going close to him.“Damn it!” I struggled with my thoughts. What is the worst that could happen if I get up from here? There were security details all around. It probably should be safe, I thought. I was about to sit up when Tara barked into my ear.“” Arhh… What was that for?” I grunted. “Can you stop being a pain in the butt,” I said, through our mind link. “I’m not gonna die just walking over there. Just take a look at Jake,” I turned to him, our gaze met. “Look…he probably needs me by his side and not sitting here, hiding over some bunch of crackheads,” I retorted. Before Tara could nag me one more time, I rose from my seat, walking over to Jake. I could feel the eyes of everyone

  • BLOODLINE OF THE MOON    CHAPTER 122

AEMOND'S POVThe long-awaited day was here. Everything was going as planned so far. The confirmation from Charlie and the support from Carlito's men were all I needed to smell victory before I lay on it. I reached for my phone, buzzing in my pocket, and it was Charlie.“Everything is set, Sir. The men would be awaiting you at the east wing. On my call, the gates will be rolled open and everyone troops in, unseen!” Charlie said, his tone steady with assurance.I took a long look at the pendant, lying on the table in front of me, and fulfillment filled my heart. “Today, we complete what we started, and you will be mine forever!” I smirked, gulping down a mouthful of alcohol.“Let's get this done!” I geared myself, hanging the pendant around my neck. I stepped outside. The cars were loaded, everyone seemed ready, but something was missing. My expression suddenly faltered. Have I been played by Carlito? His men were meant to be here! Where are the snipers? The foot soldiers? My heart b

  • BLOODLINE OF THE MOON    CHAPTER 121

JAKE'S POVToday was my mother's burial. I woke up feeling worse than the past few days since she died. The pain in my heart weighed me down like a ton. I looked out of the window, and the world seemed to be slowed down before my eyes.I traced the thread of rainfall rolling down the window, and all I saw was little me, running through the green field in summer, and the echoes of my mum's laughter, the way her hair bounced on her shoulder, her favorite sundress dancing with the flow of the wind. I instantly felt bitterness in my throat.“I miss you, mama,” I muttered under my breath, as I traced the window so close and intentional. The skies mourned with me as it was drizzling. Though it wasn’t enough to ruin the day’s arrangements, but just enough to remind me of the emptiness clinging to the wind.“Hey.” Lyra's soft voice snapped me back from my thoughts. I turned around to see her gorgeously dressed in black. Her duchess mermaid gown streamlined her curves. The net-like fascinato

DON CARLITO’S POVToday, the clouds were pouring down on us. The endless sparks and flashes of the lightning, followed by the incessant drum rolls of thunder strikes, took over the morning here in Draymoor. I sat in my study, leaning backward in my collapsible chair, my legs crossed on the table, swirling with a glass of alcohol in my left hand while a thin smoke from my cigarette, fixed in between my fingers on the right, curled upward before disappearing into the air.I watched as beads of rain slid down the window. Tall trees far beyond dancing to the tune of the wave. All these did little to calm the storm in my mind. Every second that passed, I lost millions of dollars to Marcos Gonzalez, and it hurts. How can I possibly tie all the loose ends? What could have even caused all these? I have the best of men in this, nothing could go wrong. I can't afford for this deal to go wrong.“Aemond!” My thoughts finally broke through my throat in a slow whisper. Though we are working togeth

JAKE'S POVA soft knock on the door yanked me back to my mind from my afternoon siesta. I had been thinking of Gregory's revelation about my mum and my step-brother, which was confirmed after I saw one of Pandora’s letters in my late mum’s box. I didn't realize when I slept through my thoughts.“You can come in!” I answered in a groggy and hoarse tone. My voice, still cracking from the long sleep. The door softly creaked open, and Charlie walked in. His face reeked with fear. “You don't have to act like you just stepped into a hanging room, waiting to be executed. Ease off, man!” I pulled off my duvet, sliding my feet into my slippers.“Good afternoon, Your Grace! I apologize for disrupting your rest. Maybe I could return later,” he said, leaning in a bow.“Come off it! What do you have for me? Are there any developments?” I queried, raking my hands through my hair in front of my dressing mirror. “God! I look so messy, I think I need a haircut,” I muttered under my breath before shift

DAMON’S POV“Thank you so much, sir. I'd get the shipments out tomorrow morning, so it would get to seaports on or before 9 a.m.,” I responded to Jake, putting together the paperwork of our client’s coal order.“Alight, Damon, I am super exhausted. I'd be retiring for the day. Endeavor to let me know when you send them out to the seaport tomorrow,” Jake said in a low tone, sluggishly pulling his suit jacket along with him.I hurriedly cleared the table, leaving to do one last security check before heading home. The moon was out, though not bright, but enough to cast dim light in the dark. I made my way to the courtyard as I strolled to the security post, when I heard hushed voices coming from the corner.Who are those? And why are they gathered there gossiping instead of carrying out their routine sweep check across the pack house? That should be Charlie's voice I'm hearing. Perhaps, he is giving them instructions as one of the head security guards in the pack.I shrugged it off, abou
