Chapter Twenty Three

I close the door of the convertible and go to Jer's family's house. I can make out the shadow of Aunt Smanatha in the kitchen, probably cooking. Her food is so delicious, you can never get sick of it. I walk in and Seth takes me in his arms. I giggle and slap his arm as soon as he sets me down. My knuckles hurt after that punch.

"Shit. When did you start working out?" I ask him.

"Are you okay?" He says, eyeing my hand.

"Yeah, but you are strong. Since when?" I ask him.

"I have always been strong, sis. You just never hit me." He says..,

"Yeah. I should have hit you sooner." I say and we look at each other and laugh. Out loud. Completely cackling. Auntie comes out and when she sees me, she grins. She washes her hands quickly and hugs me. She kisses my cheeks and I hug her back. I have missed her. I realise it only now and hug her tighter. She loosens the embrace and looks at me.

"You have homecoming tomorrow and look at your skin. Have you eaten anything at all?" She says.
