GOOD MOTHER ONE DAY

Selene

After our training, and yes because I didn’t participate didn’t mean in any way that I wasn’t part of the training. You’d be surprised at how many skills a girl can pick up while just watching.

 That’s what I say to make myself feel better and it works half as good so I’m going to take it.

I go back home to take a shower. One of the perks of living alone and not in a pack house is that I never run out of hot water, hence the reason I’m having such a hot shower the vapor has fogged up the bathroom mirror.

After my shower, I sat in front of my vanity in order to finish my getting ready process. I blow-dried my hair and packed it into a neat ponytail after applying a bunch of hair stuff, oils, creams you name it.

My hair was pretty obedient and never gave me much trouble but then I hated the fact that it lacked volume hence my obsession with hair products. I put on my underwear and decided to get dressed in a pair of jean shorts and a cropped band T-Shirt.

As if on cue, there was a sound from the front door. There is only one person in the entire world who has free reign to be in and out of my house as they please. “That was quick” I said when I got to the living room. Nova was dressed in a cute sundress, her hair was just in a messy bun but then she looked effortlessly beautiful.

 There was once a time I used to be jealous of Nova’s beauty. We were much younger then and I was the only one who seemed to be going through the rough burnt of puberty. She never had horrendous acnes like I once did and she also grew curves quite earlier than me.

Even right now she was really curvy with nice breasts and a plump ass coupled with long legs that went on for days. While I was pretty average in my opinion with no features that were really eye catching.

“Well aren’t you gorgeous” I wolf whistled and she gave me a little twirl “I know, I try” she said and I rolled my eyes

“how are you so cocky?”

“I came here to mooch off you so please tell me you have something to fucking eat” she said.

“You do know that you have a really filthy mouth right?” I asked and she hissed

“no babes, you are just a fucking prude” she replied.

“Anyways I just have cereal and coffee” I said. “Miss Rogers is going to cook me some foods and bring them over later” I said. “What do you want in your coffee?” I asked “Black please” she said and I nodded “ok”. Nova never had a permanent way she liked her coffee. Today she might want it with a bunch of sugars and creamers, tomorrow she’d want a decaf and sometimes like now she’d want it all black.

We ate our food in silence. Comfortable silences like these were one of the things I cherished with Nova. There was no pressure to fill up the silence with words it just showed how comfortable we were in each other’s presence.

I looked at my phone “We have to hurry I cannot be late for babysitting today. The omegas were complaining, said they’d suggest to the alpha to cut my salary. “Damn cunts” Nova hissed and I looked at her “Hey. They’re not that bad but to be fair I have been late quite a lot.”

The pack house was extremely large and located in the heart of the pack lands. Our pack was Remington. One of the three confederation of packs that made up the main pack that was ruled by the Alpha King if that made any sense. I don’t still fully understand it myself.

All I know is that three packs all autonomous came together after the war of Supernaturals to form a confederation ruled by the Alpha King and we’ve been living in harmony ever since.

 The pack house was a huge mansion that occupied acres of the pack land. The alpha and his family was required to live there first and foremost, followed by the beta and his family, the delta and his family and basically anyone who occupied a position of honor in the pack was bound to live there.

 The rest of the members of the pack had the option to either live there or build on surrounding pack lands. Also, families dropped off their pups at the pack house to be tended to by the omegas while they went off for work. I loved my job and I loved the pups.

“You have to hurry Selena the Omega’s are grumbling again you are almost late” Chris said with a smile. He was used to me by now. Chris was one of the warriors who guarded the pack house when he was not on patrol duty. I winked

 “thanks Chris, I got this” I said and increased my steps to join the other omegas.

“Oh look who decided to finally join us”

Cece said. She was the head Omega and she was the most nagging person I had ever met in my life, but she was kind. “Cece come on I’m not late” I said and she rolled her eyes “being here a few seconds to the time doesn’t exactly count as punctual” she said and I linked my arm through hers “you know you love me” I said and she couldn’t stop the smile that crept to her lips “ unfortunately”.

  Our pack had a population of roughly a hundred and fifty wolves in total, which was quite a large amount for a wolf population and out of them only about 15 were omegas.

This meant that Omegas were rare and as that they were well taken care of. Omegas were meant to be caretakers, it is in their DNA.

Their jobs include cooking meals for the pack house, cleaning, helping the salutary as midwives during childbirth and tending to the young pups while their parents went to work.

And thank the lords that the barbaric practices of maltreating omegas was long abolished after the War of Supernaturals, Omegas were well compensated for their work and they were quite happy.

I was not an omega by any means, nope I was one of the ordinary wolves with no special title attached and no means to earn one since my sick body didn’t leave room for me to do much. The only reason I was even allowed to babysit with the Omegas was because I practically had to beg the Alpha to let me do something.

“Selene” I knew that little voice followed by the soft pattering of little feet. I turned and picked her up

“Hi munchkin. How are you?” I asked

 “I’m good” she babbled and I dropped a light kiss on her forehead. Mindy was the cutest little pup ever at five and I know that it isn’t ethical to have a favorite when dealing with children but I couldn’t help it.

Mindy and I were a bit alike or that’s what I liked to think. Her metamorphosis process was a bit slower than others, she hadn’t even grown out her fangs yet.

 Hence why she was the oldest child that was still in day care and not in school yet. Wolves had to grow their fangs before school as a result of the nature for some of the lessons.

Mindy was one of the strongest people I know even as a little kid, remaining positive even when she was so different, I wish I was that strong sometimes “We are going to have so much fun together darling” I said and she nodded excitedly “uh huh”

“Mindy aren’t you going to say goodbye to mummy?” her mum said from behind us

“Come on say good bye to your mummy” I said and gently placed her on the ground and she rushed to her mummy “bye mamma I want to play with Selene now” she said kissing her mum on the cheek.

Her mum chuckled “please take care of my little Mindy for me” she said and I nodded “will do”.

“Come on let’s raid all the snacks before the others” I whispered other and she giggled nodding excitedly “yayy”.

We ended up sharing the snacks with everyone. The ending credits for The Croods came rolling in ad when I looked all the kids were sound asleep. Mindy comfortably tucked by my side. One by one I took them to bed and made sure they were all comfortably tucked in.

“The kids really love you, especially Mindy. You’ll make a great mother one day” Cece said and I smiled

“I hope so”
