THE SEER’S PROPHECY

“Have you contacted the seer?”

I asked my Beta “Yes Alpha King she is on her way” he replied head bowed. Kairos was my beta and also my best friend. He was loyal to me both as a beta and as a friend.

 We needed to find out the reason why we hadn’t had a full moon in the past three forth nights.

Not just for the capital but for the other packs. None of us could survive much longer if this continued. We all could feel it, our wolves getting weaker and if this continued, our wolves would disappear and then there would really be nothing any of us could do.

As Alpha King all the responsibility fell on my shoulders, and if I couldn’t beat this I would have failed not only myself but all the other packs that looked up to me. It still amused me how in the blink of an eye I wen form having no responsibility to shouldering the responsibility of three packs.

“The rogue down in the cells, has he spoken yet?” I asked and he shook his head “No Alpha King, it seems like he is scared of something greater that he’d rather die here than speak”, he said and I flung the items on my desk to the ground.

“Fuck that!” I exclaimed

 “Keep him alive for one more day without food or water and I’ll come question him tomorrow and if he still has nothing to say we’ll dispose of him” I said and Kairos nodded “yes Alpha King” he bowed and left.

Everything was a mess, we had more rogue attacks in the weeks that there’d been a disappearance of the full moon than we’d had in three years.

 Something was up. And the fact that I didn’t have a clue the danger brewing frustrated me to no end. My predecessors and my father before me led the packs successfully until death and I’ll be damned if it’s me that’d fucking fail.

There was a knock on my office door. And from the smell I knew it was Kairos and another foreign scent that did not belong to anyone in my pack. I wonder how many hours had passed of me scouting through books, looking for a single clue as to why we haven’t seen the full moon in such a long time.

“Come in”

I said from where I was seated on my chair and my office doors were opened. Kairos came in followed by an aged woman.

“The Seer has arrived Alpha King” he said and I nodded. “Thank you Kairos. You can excuse us now” I said and Kairos bowed and left, only to come to a stop right outside my door in case anything went wrong.

“Have a sit” I said and she sat down her cloak giving her an ominous feeling.

 She looked aged, maybe in her late seventies but from what I knew about Seers she could be much, much older than that. Her eyes looked clouded by some sort of mist, fuck if I know. I cleared my throat “thank you for coming Maris, you had been really hard to contact” I said and she burst out laughing.

“I did not come because of you no, no all things happen as the goddess wills it” she said. “Ok” I replied “did the goddess say anything about why we have not had a full moon in three forth nights?” I asked “it’s only a matter of time before the effects catch up to all of us, people will die at this rate”

“The goddess is wise. All things she does is for a reason”

She said cryptically “There will be no full moon until darkness and light collide in order to find the balance. There are terrible days ahead. The darkness and light must meet unless...” she stopped talking.

Her eyes were glazed over, ace ashen with fear

 “No! The light and darkness must meet if not there will be death we will all die!” she shout out of her chair and grabbed my hand in a deathly grip “you must find her, it’s the only way”

 She began to cry, but instead of normal tears her eyes leaked of some red liquid, I realized it was blood. Her hands were burrowed I deep in my wrist still refusing to let go of me

“Find who?” I asked I was desperate but she did not say anything remotely helpful, rather she began to ramble afresh some sort of gibberish that I didn’t fucking understand.

“The darkness and light must collide find the balance, everything depends on you both find the balance!!!” she squealed her nails digging painfully into my wrist.  “Ouch!” I hissed and almost immediately, I started bleeding. Kairos barged in alongside some other warriors and they dragged her off me, holding her tight. She began to screech loudly, her voice morphed as though she was no longer in control of her own self.

“If you don’t find her we will all die! Time is running out the light and darkness must find each other to reach a balance!!!”

She kept on struggling until she finally lost consciousness. How much strength could this frail looking old lady possess?

Seems I underestimated her, fucking seers, if not for the issue with the moon I’d never want to be in contact with these strange fuckers.

“Find her a room to sleep and send her on her way as soon as she wakes up” I instructed.

“Yes Alpha King” they all said and hauled her with them.

I looked at my wrist which had begun healing. It was healing slower than usual, and soon if there was nothing done about this situation, we would stop healing entirely.

“What a fucking bust!” All that she said made no sense whatsoever, darkness and light colliding what the hell did that mean? This seer was our last hope and here she was babbling like sort of bat shit crazy woman.

This was the problem with seers, they were so cryptic and were never really of any actual help. At this point I might as well be grasping at straws.

 She said something about finding her so whoever I was looking for was a woman? But where do I even begin?

 Our pack was a confederation of three autonomous packs; Oleander, Remington and Ferdinand each with over a hundred members which was quite a lot for packs. Werewolves were not some sort of common species that existed all over the place and after the war, we became even less and so for us to gather this many members was a miracle.

How was I going to begin this wild goose search for some unknown lady and how do I even know when I’ve found her, whoever she is. Was there even a ‘her’ in existence?

 And if hypothetically I did manage to find her, then what next and what exactly did that seer mean by we will all die. Rogues attack had tripled ever since the failure of the full moon to appear and now an impending threat of death loomed above us all, fucking fantastic.

My mind went back to the recurrent dream I’ve been having for a while now. It can’t be a fucking coincidence. In the dream I stood frozen while a white wolf stared at me. I don’t know how I know she is female but there was this feeling.

She was huge with the clearest blue eyes that I had ever seen. It was like she was frozen and whenever I tried to go towards the wolf I just woke up.

I thought it was just a stupid dream but I guess from what this fucking seer said, it’s really fucking not.

And I know that I may be grasping at straws now but I was really damn desperate.

I would find a way to meet with all the females in the pack and when I find her, everything will be ok, I will make sure of it.
