Diana's pov

I stare at Blake, my face burning with shame at what his fingers just did to me. He holds my gaze without blinking. His dark eyes burn with raw lust and need.

Before I can process the feeling, he leans in and kisses me again. I try to pull back, but I find myself sinking into it. His mouth tastes like rich, bitter coffee.

He reaches for the hem of my crop top, his fingers tugging at the fabric as if he wants to rip it off.

I break the kiss, gasping for air. "Blake, we can't do th

Diana's povI wake up in the morning with a serious headache banging against my skull so hard that I feel like my head will fall off at any moment."Ahhh, why is it hurting so much?" I mumble, holding my head tightly with both hands as if to keep it attached. All of a sudden, memories of yesterday come flooding back, and my heart skips a beat. Wait, what am I doing in my room? Who brought me here? I ask myself, quickly standing up from the bed.The last thing I remember is drinking with a stranger at the pool party. I groan softly as I try to recall even a small detail, but nothing adds up. Could Chloe have brought me home? No. I made sure Chloe never knew where Blake's mansion was. Knowing Chloe, she would have taken me to her own house instead. Could I have walked back here by myself? No way. I know how hard it is for me to even stand when I am drunk.I walk over to the full-length mirror, and my eyes widen in complete shock. How... how did my clothes get changed? I was so focused o

Blake's pov The moment Gebriel, my head of security, calls to report what Diana is getting herself into, anger flares inside me. I immediately step into the car, and my driver speeds toward the location. I have already assigned Jack to keep an eye on her, especially after she mentions that guy Jasper.I cannot afford to share what belongs to me. The contract states that clearly. According to Gebriel's report, they are just friends. Still, it bothers me. I cannot understand why a woman needs to keep male friends in the first place.I know when she leaves for the pool party that her outfit does not sit well with me. I convince myself it is fine for the occasion. Even though I hate the idea of her going, I do not want to interfere in her personal life, so I do not stop her.Thank goodness we arrive just in time.I watch a man carrying her toward his car. It takes one look to know what he is planning. Anyone with good intentions would be taking her back toward her friends, not tow

Diana's povChloe screams right behind me. I flinch, slamming my hand over my heart while she bursts out laughing."Chloe!" I snap, giving her a glare."So sorry, Diana!" She laughs, shaking her head. "You are such a scaredy-cat."I frown at her, but before I can reply, Mason steps in front of me. "Forgive my lady's lack of manners, Diana.""Mason!" I yell happily, pulling him into a quick hug. "How have you been? I am so glad you are finally back in the States.""Happy to be back too, Diana," he says, leaning over to kiss Chloe on the cheek. She beams."Wow, Mason is back!" Jasper calls out as he and Vera join us. He and Mason exchange a quick handshake."Hi, Vera," we all say. Vera came back a few days ago, which is why Jasper is throwing this pool party."Come on, guys! This is a pool party, not a land party. Get in the pool and grab a drink!" Jasper says."That we can do," Chloe says, jumping up. She loves pool parties, and with Mason back, she is glowing. "Come on, Dian

Diana’s povI wake up the next morning to Blake’s sleeping face. My hands are still wrapped around his.A small smile tugs at my lips as I stare at him. I have never seen Mr. Workaholic sleep this peacefully. His fingers twitch against mine.My lashes flutter. “Blake, are you finally awake?” I ask, my smile growing wider. He opens his eyes a fraction, then winces and squeezes them shut against the harsh morning light. Slowly, he blinks them open again.“Blake, how are you feeling? Are you better now?” Worry tightens my chest as I lean in.He stares at me for a long, heavy second. His gaze is blank, like he is struggling to place my face. Then his eyes drop. They travel slowly from my face to our hands, where my fingers are still wrapped around his.His expression changes. The confusion in his eyes disappears, replaced by something cold and hard. His fingers stiffen beneath mine.“How dare you touch me.”He yanks his hand back with so much force that my arm jerks. He springs off the so

I walk back and forth in my room.Mr. Blake came back home at 7:00 PM. Miss Sofia says he stays at the cemetery all day. When he walked through the door tonight, his face was white like a ghost. I am so worried he is sick.I open my room door a little bit and look out. His bedroom door is shut tight.I must stay away, I tell myself. Miss Sofia told me I won't like his dark side.I walk back inside and slide down against my door. I hide my face in my hands. I hope he is okay by morning.I sit on the floor for a long time. My eyes feel heavy and I am getting sleepy.Click.I hear a door close. I jump up right away.I open my door a little and peek outside. I see Mr. Blake's back. He walks down the stairs holding his laptop. He is going to his study room.I do not understand this man. He looks very sick, but he still wants to work.I know I should stay in my room, but I decide to follow him.The door to his study is open a bit. I step inside quietly.Mr. Blake sits at his

Diana’s pov I woke up in the morning, my throat feels dry. I walk into the kitchen to get water.Miss Sofia stands near the gas stove. She stirs a pot, but her shoulders are tight. Her face looks very tired."Good morning, Miss Sofia," I say with a warm smile. She turns around. Her forced smile does not reach her eyes. "Good morning, ma'am," she says softly, then looks right back at her pot.I grab a bottle from the fridge, but I stop. Miss Sofia is my only real friend in this huge house."Miss Sofia, are you okay?" I ask, stepping closer. "You look worried."She lets out a shaky breath. "I am just worried about Mr. Blake. I hope this soup helps his hangover."Hangover? I frown. I know he had a drink before he came to my room early this morning. Did he drink more after that? Blake is not a drunk."Is it really that bad?" I ask, my chest feeling tight.Miss Sofia shakes her head. "It is like this every second of April. Every year. I just hope he does not get sick this time."
