They sat down, getting straight to business and Ray realized his mistake a little too late. He was so focused on talking to Alexis that he forgot she wanted to take their business away from them. But in his defense, he thought she'd forgotten about the stupid advice he'd given her. From the way she charmed Axel, it was clear she hadn't forgotten anything. By the time the meeting ended, Axel was half in love with Alexis and he knew without a doubt that if she went through with her plans, he'd be the first client she poached. Ray bounced his knee up and down in pent-up frustration. His flight was delayed for two hours. That was two more hours he should have been with Alexis. Alexis caught a glimpse of someone stomping off angrily and pushed Copeland away before their lips touched. Was that Ray she saw? Impossible. He hadn't called her to say he was coming and even if it was a surprise he would have made an appearance. She'd spent last night tossing and turning, wondering why he hadn't contacted her. She imagined how different this weekend would have been had he been there with there. That first day, they'd walked into the dining room and the second he'd seen Copeland he'd kissed Alexis. Claiming her in front of his partner and employees. The man had narrowed his eyes but did nothing mainly because Alexis kissed him back with the same intensity he did her. It was truly one of those moments Ray felt like he was on top of the world. He got the girl in the end. And boy did the girl tease him but he loved every second of it until she whispered 'two days' in his ears. When they sat down to eat, other employees flocked to their table, thanking him for his generosity. He was so busy talking with them that when he felt Alexis' hand on his thigh he jumped. Ray excused himself, saying his ringing phone had startled him. Which was a lie. He needed a chance to brace himself.
