LOGINBRIGHT'S POV:
At Morgan's Group, I was in my office on the top floor of a magnificent five-story building, attending to a client, when my fiancée, Nini André, barged in and threw the engagement ring I'd given her in my face. "Bright, I am done with this relationship!" Nini declared. She didn't mind that I had a client with me. She openly embarrassed me in front of my top partner, even though she worked as my finance manager. "Mr. Tilman, we will discuss the business negotiation later," I said, and my partner stood up and left my office. He acted blind, as if he didn't see the angry woman in the room. After Mr. Tilman left, I fixed my gaze on Nini André. She was a 27-year-old, tall, slender fair-skinned woman. "What is it, Nini? Why did you throw the engagement ring at me?" I asked her, standing up from my office chair as I walked over to meet her. I was the CEO of Morgan's Group and the Blues Hotel in this city. "Bright, are you asking me why I am breaking up with you? Are you really a man? We have been having unprotected sex, and yet, I am not pregnant by you. What does that tell you? That you are impotent!" Nini shouted, tears welling up in her eyes as she glared daggers at me. My heart ached at the way Nini said that to my face. I'd known that I wasn't capable as a man down there, but at least I provided for her and her family's needs. "Nini, we have been dating for five years now. Why do you want to call it quits? We can get medical help. You will have my child," I told her, walking out from behind my desk to approach her, but she yelled at me. "Don't come any closer to me! You are an impotent man. What's the point of having all these millions when you cannot get a woman pregnant? I cannot continue with you! I only accepted your ring at the hotel yesterday because I did not want to embarrass you, but I cannot continue with you. You should look for a barren woman to marry, not me," Nini yelled, not caring if her words were breaking my heart. "Nini, please, you know that I love you very much. I did everything to support you and your family. I paid your tuition fees for the university. You cannot break up with me now," I told her, but she narrowed her eyes at me. "Tell me how much you spent on me, and I will make a refund. This is my life that I am talking about here! My future. I cannot spend the rest of my life with you. And do not come after me again; we are over. Completely over! Besides, I gave you my body in these past five years that we have known each other, so take that as payment for all the money that you spent on me. But I cannot take this ring. I need a real man who will make me feel like a woman, not an incompetent CEO like yourself!" Nini shouted and ran out of my office, leaving my world turning black. I loved Nini André. I did everything to make her happy, but recently, I didn't know how she found out that I was impotent. I hadn't discussed it with her yet, but she said she wanted to have a child before we were married. I moved back to my office chair to resume my work, as the time was past 4 p.m. I couldn't focus on anything I was doing. My mind still replayed all the words that Nini had said to me. I was a 31-year-old man, and I'd been dating Nini since I was 26. Sighing, I turned off my computer and picked up my phone to call my best friends, Sunny Howard and Gabriel Jefferson. "Hello, Sunny, are you free tonight?" I asked him, and he apologized. "I am sorry, Bright. I have an important client to meet tonight, and I cannot hang out with you. Why not call Gabriel?" I frowned and felt like the world was turning its back on me. "That's fine. I will call Gabriel now," I said before my call with Sunny ended. I placed a call to Gabriel, asking him to hang out with me. "Hello, Gabriel. Can you hang out with me tonight?" I asked him, and he paused and asked, "Where? Why not call your fiancèe to hang out with you?" My heart ached at the reminder of Nini and how bluntly she had cut me off, also warning me not to go after her. "Nini broke up with me and returned my engagement ring," I said, and Gabriel gasped. "What? I have always known that Nini doesn't want to marry you. Didn't you see the way she was behaving after you gave her the ring? She was reluctant to accept you!" Gabriel was seething with rage, and I could feel his anger over the phone. "It's okay, Gabriel. I hold no grudge against Nini. She says that I am not man enough, and she doesn't want me," I said, and the phone call went silent for a while. "Are you sure you want to hang out in your club? You just need to relax and maybe try to reach out to Nini to know if she is serious about breaking up with you. Besides, you have done so much for her. You helped her family, and now she wants to quit the relationship with you?" Gabriel was angry, and I understood him. "It's okay, Gabriel, let it slide. Nini will surely come back to me. She cannot do without money, so she will come to beg me," I said, and he sighed. "Alright. I will see you tonight at the Blues Club. Time: 6 p.m.," he said, and I felt better. "Alright. I am still at the company. Once I close, I will let you know, before heading to the Blues," I told him, and he replied, "Alright. I will see you there." My phone call with Gabriel ended, and I got a call from my stepmother, Eden Morgan. "Hello, Mom," I greeted her, and she asked me, "Bright, what's going on? I heard that Nini André has ended her engagement with you? Why would she do that?" I shut my eyes painfully, I replied, "It's her choice. How am I supposed to know?" "Bright, how would you say that you didn't know why your own fiancée broke up with you? Anyway, you have to come home today. Your father insists," she said, and my brows furrowed. "I am in no mood to come home. How about tomorrow? I will be at home," I told her, as it was Friday evening. I needed some time to chill and relax. My stepmother, Eden, doesn't like me, so I am sure she is celebrating now that my fiancée has called off our engagement. "Fine," she said and ended the call. I got ready to leave my office and hang out with Gabriel at the Blues Club.(Nini's POV)"What? How is my son, Raymond, the father of your child, Nini? Are you lying to us? You don't have to tell a lie," Mrs. Eden asked, her eyes watching me curiously, begging me to tell her the truth."I'm not lying, Ma. Raymond and I had sex. He told me about Bright's infertility and said he could make me pregnant. I thought it was all a lie until the test results came back positive," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks. However, Mrs. Eden marched up to me and smacked me hard across my left cheek."Shut up, you slụt! My son is not the father of your child!" she yelled, her eyes shooting daggers at me. I looked at her in shock, my left hand instinctively flying to cover my cheek—I hadn't expected the slap."That's enough, honey. You don't need to raise your hand to her," Mr. Morgan said calmly, even though his wife was seething with rage. But she yelled, "Get out of our house, you Jezebel! So it was your plan to cause a division between my two sons. Even though Bright isn
(Nini's POV)After I left Bright's office, I made my way to the first floor and left the company. Most of the staff looked at me as if I didn't belong there, as if I should quit my job.I knew that I owed Bright an explanation as to why I had broken up with him. Pregnancy wasn't something to be kept hidden, and I knew that Bright would soon find out that I was pregnant with his brother's child.I had thought Bright would react angrily and maybe hit me or throw me out, but he said he already knew that I had cheated. He said he wasn't angry with me and that I should call Raymond and let him know the pregnancy was his. Bright also advised me to inform his parents. My parents had been calling me nonstop, especially my dad and my older brother. They wanted me to come home, and they wanted to force me to apologize to Bright and get back together with him. But Bright made it clear to my face that he didn't want me again. He said that I should move on, and that he had already moved on too.I
(Bright's POV)I had not expected to run into that woman again in my company. The intimate moments we had shared came flooding back in my mind.I was trying to forget about the time we spent together, and now she was working for me as my new accountant. "Damn it!" I cursed and made my way into my office on the top floor of the five-story building. As I paced about in my office, I considered whether I should accept Jeff's offer to transfer her to his company, even though he was younger than me.I shook my head and decided against it."No. Let me see what she is capable of. After all, she is not pursuing me, and she didn't look at me in a way that suggests she wants me again. She clearly understood that it was a one-night stand."As I settled in my office chair, trying to calm my nerves, my office line rang. My secretary, Rita, informed me, "Sir, Mr. Ford is requesting to see you.""Let him in," I replied, before ending the call.A few minutes later, Jeff walked into my office with a s
(Bright's POV) "What? How sure are you that the pregnancy belongs to Raymond? Haha, just cut the joke, Nini. I don’t like jokes, and you know it," I said, laughing sadly and wondering if Nini was playing a trick on me. "I’m not joking, Bright. Raymond invited me over some months ago after you and I stopped having sex. I’m sure he’s the one, but he doesn’t love me. I don’t know how to tell him, and I didn’t want to lie to you about my pregnancy. It’s why I broke up with you. But I still love you, Bright. Please..." Nini stepped forward, reaching for my hands. Just then, Richard entered my office and lowered his head. "Sir, I brought your request," he said, glancing from me to Nini. "It’s fine, Richard. Bring it in," I replied, not sending Richard away despite Nini’s presence. I was shocked by Nini’s confession about why she broke up with me. Sunny and Gideon had already told me that Nini had been cheating, so I was prepared for the worst. It was why I wanted to move on and let her b
(Carolina's POV) When I rose to leave my new office, I paused at the door and glanced back once more. "It felt good to be a new accountant and finally have a job," I said. A smile crept up on my lips, and my heart fluttered with a wave of excitement as I exited my office on the second floor. I made my way to the cafeteria on the third floor. **** (Bright's POV) I sat in my office chair, working on some business projects on my computer, my fingers clicked with precise movements as I worked on the project at hand. I had been too preoccupied to visit my company branch, so I made an arrangement with my partner, Mr. Jeff Ford to handle the hiring process for me, because I wanted only professionals hired. The day flew by quickly, and before I knew it, it was afternoon. My phone rang aloud with an incoming call, breaking the peacefulness in my office. My hand instinctively reached for my phone as I picked it up, and my eyes stared at the caller. It was an incoming call from Gabriel
(Carolina's POV) The crowd dwindled as many people walked out of the Human Resources department with disappointed looks on their faces. Soon, it was my turn. I rose from my chair and walked toward the interview room. I sucked in a deep breath, believing that I would pass the interview. The last interview had taught me to dress decently at work. They weren't searching for only brains, but also for how modest their employees appeared. When I walked into the vast office, the man who sat behind his desk raised his head and peered at me. "You!" I gasped, seeing he was the stalker. "Mmm," his brows furrowed as he looked at me from head to toe. "You want to work here? As a new staff member?" he asked, his lips curling into a smile. I couldn't believe that he worked for Morgan Groups. I thought he was the boss of his own company. "Yes…" I spluttered, clearing my throat, and he smiled. "I understand that look of surprise on your face. Actually, I don't work here. Bright hired me to run
