LOGINCarolina's POV.
When I arrived at the Blues Club, many of the guests, passersby, and staff working in this large, luxurious clubhouse looked at me as if I had wandered into the wrong place. "Hey! Where are you going?" a tough-looking security guard stopped me before I could enter the club. "I'm here to see my friend, Lucy Campbell," I said, and the security guard eyed me suspiciously. "There's no one by that name here. Call her or you'll have to wait outside until you see her!" he barked at me, making me jump back in fright. However, I collided with someone behind me, and a deep voice mumbled, "Hey! Easy, miss! Watch your step!" He caught me even before I could fall to the ground after stepping on his feet and losing my balance. His firm arms encircled my waist, and it felt like time had stopped as we gazed into each other's eyes. "Hey, are you alright?" The man asked, steadying me back on my feet. I was lost for a moment, as I had never seen a man as handsome as him before. He looked like a model who was printed on a magazine front cover. "Yeah... I'm... fine," I stammered, mesmerized by his handsome brown-skinned face. He was tall, muscular, and attractive. His rich perfume scent made my stomach flutter with butterflies. My cheeks flushed in embarrassment, as I wasn't expecting such a handsome man to be the one catching me after the security guard had scared me. "That's fine," he said, looking at my dress. I saw his brows furrow at first, before he said, "Come with me." "Me?" I asked in surprise as he stepped aside. "Yeah," he replied. "I just want to have a conversation with you. What did you come here to do? You seem out of place." I lowered my head, knowing he was only asking out of concern. However, before I could respond, my phone rang, and the loud ringtone of "Somebody's Son Go Love Me One Day" by Tiwa Savage resonated in the air, breaking the awkwardness between me and this handsome stranger. "Excuse me, sir. My friend is calling me," I told him before walking away to answer the call. "Hello, Lucy," I said, glancing back to see if the handsome stranger was still there, but he had gone. I felt sad that I didn't get to talk to him. Maybe he had seen who he came to spend time with at the club. "Hey, Carolina. Where are you? I just came out and can't seem to find you. Do you know what time it is?" I heard Lucy shout into the call, and I laughed to ease my disappointed heart. "Yeah, I know. It's 8:30 pm. I'm outside the club, and the security men won't let me in," I told her, and she said, "Come over now. My boss is waiting to see you." "Alright." I rushed to the front of the club, and this time, Lucy was standing there elegantly, like a queen. She tapped her feet on the ground as she saw me hurrying over. "Where did you go? I almost thought you weren't coming," Lucy voiced her complaint, frowning. She was wearing a red body-con dress that perfectly revealed her slim figure, but she had big bréasts like me. "The security man wouldn't let me in, and he said no one is named Lucy in their club," I whispered into Lucy's ear, and she laughed. "Yeah, you don't expect me to use my real identity in this club. We use fake names, and that's what you're going to do," she told me before dragging me into the club, and this time, the security guard looked at me with a narrowed gaze but let me pass. The loud music filled the air of the magnificent clubhouse as Lucy and I walked in. This was my first time in a club, and I felt so anxious. "Walk fast," Lucy led me away, taking a turn, and we met her boss, who was speaking to a man and his companion. "Excuse me, Mr. Karen," Lucy said, snapping her boss's attention back to her. "Yeah, Agnes, how can I help you?" her boss asked, finally walking away from the man and woman he had been discussing with. Lucy excitedly introduced me to her boss, "Sir, this is my best friend I spoke to you about. Her name is Joy, and she's in need of a job as a server." Mr. Karen looked me up and down. "Have you worked in a club before?" "No, sir," I replied, nervous. "Well, do you know what your job entails? You'll have to entertain my clients, not just serve them drinks. If you like, you can hook up with them, but remember to use protection," he lectured, and my cheeks flushed. "Um, I can interact with the clients, but I can't sleep with anyone, sir," I said, and Mr. Karen frowned. However, Lucy nudge my arm and chimed in, "Mr. Karen, you don't have to worry. I'll lecture Joy well, and she'll do just fine." Mr. Karen looked from me to Lucy and shrugged, "I'm counting on you, Agnes. Take your friend to change out of those rags. I don't want her to scare my clients away." "Okay, sir," Lucy said, and she quickly dragged me to the elevator. "Where are you taking me?" I asked, and she laughed. "To the boutique. Don't you know the Blues Club has a private boutique for their female clients to change into, if anyone gets their clothes dirty or torn, or if you spend a night here?" she said, and I looked at her face in surprise. "Seriously?" I asked, and she smiled as we entered the elevator. "Yeah," she replied.(Nini's POV)"What? How is my son, Raymond, the father of your child, Nini? Are you lying to us? You don't have to tell a lie," Mrs. Eden asked, her eyes watching me curiously, begging me to tell her the truth."I'm not lying, Ma. Raymond and I had sex. He told me about Bright's infertility and said he could make me pregnant. I thought it was all a lie until the test results came back positive," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks. However, Mrs. Eden marched up to me and smacked me hard across my left cheek."Shut up, you slụt! My son is not the father of your child!" she yelled, her eyes shooting daggers at me. I looked at her in shock, my left hand instinctively flying to cover my cheek—I hadn't expected the slap."That's enough, honey. You don't need to raise your hand to her," Mr. Morgan said calmly, even though his wife was seething with rage. But she yelled, "Get out of our house, you Jezebel! So it was your plan to cause a division between my two sons. Even though Bright isn
(Nini's POV)After I left Bright's office, I made my way to the first floor and left the company. Most of the staff looked at me as if I didn't belong there, as if I should quit my job.I knew that I owed Bright an explanation as to why I had broken up with him. Pregnancy wasn't something to be kept hidden, and I knew that Bright would soon find out that I was pregnant with his brother's child.I had thought Bright would react angrily and maybe hit me or throw me out, but he said he already knew that I had cheated. He said he wasn't angry with me and that I should call Raymond and let him know the pregnancy was his. Bright also advised me to inform his parents. My parents had been calling me nonstop, especially my dad and my older brother. They wanted me to come home, and they wanted to force me to apologize to Bright and get back together with him. But Bright made it clear to my face that he didn't want me again. He said that I should move on, and that he had already moved on too.I
(Bright's POV)I had not expected to run into that woman again in my company. The intimate moments we had shared came flooding back in my mind.I was trying to forget about the time we spent together, and now she was working for me as my new accountant. "Damn it!" I cursed and made my way into my office on the top floor of the five-story building. As I paced about in my office, I considered whether I should accept Jeff's offer to transfer her to his company, even though he was younger than me.I shook my head and decided against it."No. Let me see what she is capable of. After all, she is not pursuing me, and she didn't look at me in a way that suggests she wants me again. She clearly understood that it was a one-night stand."As I settled in my office chair, trying to calm my nerves, my office line rang. My secretary, Rita, informed me, "Sir, Mr. Ford is requesting to see you.""Let him in," I replied, before ending the call.A few minutes later, Jeff walked into my office with a s
(Bright's POV) "What? How sure are you that the pregnancy belongs to Raymond? Haha, just cut the joke, Nini. I don’t like jokes, and you know it," I said, laughing sadly and wondering if Nini was playing a trick on me. "I’m not joking, Bright. Raymond invited me over some months ago after you and I stopped having sex. I’m sure he’s the one, but he doesn’t love me. I don’t know how to tell him, and I didn’t want to lie to you about my pregnancy. It’s why I broke up with you. But I still love you, Bright. Please..." Nini stepped forward, reaching for my hands. Just then, Richard entered my office and lowered his head. "Sir, I brought your request," he said, glancing from me to Nini. "It’s fine, Richard. Bring it in," I replied, not sending Richard away despite Nini’s presence. I was shocked by Nini’s confession about why she broke up with me. Sunny and Gideon had already told me that Nini had been cheating, so I was prepared for the worst. It was why I wanted to move on and let her b
(Carolina's POV) When I rose to leave my new office, I paused at the door and glanced back once more. "It felt good to be a new accountant and finally have a job," I said. A smile crept up on my lips, and my heart fluttered with a wave of excitement as I exited my office on the second floor. I made my way to the cafeteria on the third floor. **** (Bright's POV) I sat in my office chair, working on some business projects on my computer, my fingers clicked with precise movements as I worked on the project at hand. I had been too preoccupied to visit my company branch, so I made an arrangement with my partner, Mr. Jeff Ford to handle the hiring process for me, because I wanted only professionals hired. The day flew by quickly, and before I knew it, it was afternoon. My phone rang aloud with an incoming call, breaking the peacefulness in my office. My hand instinctively reached for my phone as I picked it up, and my eyes stared at the caller. It was an incoming call from Gabriel
(Carolina's POV) The crowd dwindled as many people walked out of the Human Resources department with disappointed looks on their faces. Soon, it was my turn. I rose from my chair and walked toward the interview room. I sucked in a deep breath, believing that I would pass the interview. The last interview had taught me to dress decently at work. They weren't searching for only brains, but also for how modest their employees appeared. When I walked into the vast office, the man who sat behind his desk raised his head and peered at me. "You!" I gasped, seeing he was the stalker. "Mmm," his brows furrowed as he looked at me from head to toe. "You want to work here? As a new staff member?" he asked, his lips curling into a smile. I couldn't believe that he worked for Morgan Groups. I thought he was the boss of his own company. "Yes…" I spluttered, clearing my throat, and he smiled. "I understand that look of surprise on your face. Actually, I don't work here. Bright hired me to run
