Saved by him

Azaria's POV

Darkness enveloped me the moment I opened my eyes. I was sitting on the floor. I could hear the tapping toes of rodents as they travelled across the room.

I tried to stand but then I remembered I had been bound by a tight rope. They were not stinging like before now they throbbed, from the constant pushing and twisting from me trying to be free. To escape.

“Ouch!” I had just touched an open wound on my wrist. I shudder to think of the many wounds on them. Or imagine myself trying to get a bath. The pain would be enormous.

I tried to turn. To know what I had been tied to, but it was not working. Was it like a wall or pole? I slumped exhausted from my trials. How long have I been here? I've lost track of time in this darkness. The only thing I could hear was the sound of my heart beating and the rats running around. I swallowed. It tasted like sweat plus blood.

Where am I?

“Help!!! Is someone there?” I cried out. It might be useless. What if I was kept in some sort of dungeon? Who took me? What do they want? I mean we have no money. My father is no high ranking elder in the pack. So why was I here?

I kept quiet and then when the realization hit me, tears began to cascade down my cheeks. I was nobody. If I went missing, nobody's going to know or care. What of Ashley?

She might not know too. I sniffed, tasting salty water. It was useless crying out for help.

Nearby something hissed. I sat up immediately. What was that? I struggled to free myself, not caring about the pain emanating from my wrist.

Suddenly the hissing grew louder, the dry coiling of scales on the floor. My heart pounded in my chest. It could fall out any moment from now.

I yelled as loud as I could. My throat was hurting. My head was hurting but I was still screaming. Maybe. Just maybe the reptile will leave at the sound of my cry. I was still screaming when I felt something wet hit my face and I bolted.

***************************************************************************************************

I awoke to a puppy licking my face. It was wagging its tail and staring at me.

Oh it was just a dream.

I tried to stand but couldn't. My hands and feet were bound. Okay I was still kidnapped but I was in a room, not in the woods or in a dark room. And for that I was grateful. I lay there and listened to their conversation about how much I would be sold and then I heard something that shattered my heart.

“Did you hear that the heir to the blood moon pack, has been betrothed to the daughter of the volcans”

“Yes”

“He will marry her to broker peace or else—“

“Or else what?”

“There will be war”

A tear slipped past my eyes. He called me his mate only to marry another. A sob escaped my throat and the door to the room was yanked open.

“Come here slave”

“No!!!!” I was dragged out of the room and as they walked, I kept screaming for my dear life. They would definitely kill him. Finally they dropped me in the middle of a room and switched on the lights and I immediately went blind.

*************************************************************************************

Please don’t hurt me!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. They ran round me as they circled me. Gritting their teeth and growling and they were not fully turned into werewolves. I was scared shitless because I had never gotten a close encounter with rogues.

“Guys let’s finish her off!”

“No, not yet, she has to suffer first”

“No guys don’t touch her yet, we don’t have the order to do that!”

The one who had lots of resentment towards me, gritted his teeth, glared at me and charged towards her. The others tried to stop him but it was useless. He was pretty fast.

“No! No! Please help me” I cried covering my face and shut my eyes as a tear flew past my cheeks at a fast rate. It’s a pity. Even on my date, I still have to be alone. Just like I have always been.

“Touch her and you will die” came a deep growl nearby. My eyes went wide. Who was that?

“Who the hell are you?” one of the rogues barked.

“Mind your fucking your business and why the hell are you here!” I turned to the door. “How the hell are you in here?!” the one who seemed like their leader yelled as he faced this very dark, red-eyed wolf. He was huge with furry air. Damn! I never knew we werewolves could be that big.

“Who are you anyway?” one asked.

“Shut up, I make the orders here!” came the scary werewolf.

The wolves burst into laughter. I was scared for the werewolf but with such size, I shudder at the havoc he could wreck but I was scared for him

“I think he wants to take her place” one said amidst laughter. “Who are you to her anyway? Her lover?”

“We all are werewolves, so we are not scared of you” another rogue said.

“Oh really” the big werewolf snarled. “ how about now—“ before I could process a thing, right before my eyes, the big werewolf moved like a flash and the next thing I saw was the bloodied parts of the rogues on the floor.

I gasped. The big guy killed him.

“So do I continue?” he gritted his teeth.

With a snap of my fingers, the other 5 rogues had all transitioned. “We are not scared of you,” their leader growled.

“Hmm” the big guy chuckled. “Now this will be fun”

And the fight began, claws against claws. The big guy slit their throats, pulled their hearts out, tore them limb by limb. It was gory, blood filled the place.

Then it was just one. Their leader. He staggered backwards with a bloodied up leg.

“Come on, don’t waste my time” the big guy said with a smug voice as he circled him.

“Who… who... the hell…is... is she to you anyway?” the leader coughed out blood.

The big guy grabbed the rogue by the neck and began to squeeze slowly. The rogue struggled to breath, he clawed and kicked and pushed but it was useless.

“MINE!!!!” he growled harshly and the body between his claws cracked and the rogue fell to the ground, dead. Blood filled everywhere.

I clasped a hand over my mouth. He’s dead. The big guy killed them all. He snapped his eyes at me and I gasped.

Was I next?

With a long stride, he was already in front of me. “Don’t hurt me!” I cried out as I covered my face.

“Azaria”

I opened my eyes. It was none other than Nicholas Sinclair. My eyes flew wide. He had already transitioned back to human form. If Nicholas was here, it meant one thing and one thing only.

He. Was. My. Mate.

“Come let’s go home” he said, loosening the ropes. But as soon as my hands were free, I did the first thing on my mind.

I smacked him on the face.

The stars had arrived and the moon shed silver tears of dew along the sea cliffs and yet she stirred not.Azaria.My flame.Silent. Unmoving.I sat beside her bed, as I had every day for weeks. Tried to convince me to rest. To eat. To walk outside.I didn’t listen. How could I?What was the world without her?I once more took her hand and wound my fingers with hers, my thumb moving across the back of her hand. “You’d be mad if you saw me like this,” I whispered. “You’d tell me to shave. To stop brooding.”I gave a soft laugh that had no joy

A sharp, hot burning pain in my side, and one that ached with every breath. The second thing I felt—was absence. She wasn’t in my arms anymore.“Azaria—” I croaked.I tried to move, but my body screamed in protest. Blinding light danced behind my eyelids. Every muscle felt torn, stitched together with fire and will.“Don’t move,” someone said gently.Ashley.She went on her knees beside me, her hands already charged with the white light trying to repair what she could. Her sleeves were covered with blood. Mine, I realized.“You're lucky,” she murmured. “A few more inches and Selene would’ve pierced your heart.”My head spun, trying to make sense of the chaos. The temple. The blade. Selene’s smile. Then—Azaria’s scream. That power.“Where is she?” I rasped.Ashley’s expression dimmed. “She saved us all.”I tried to sit up. She stopped me.“You’re not ready—”“Where is she?” I growled.Ashley hesitated.

The Shattered BondAzaria’s POVDarkness cradled me.Not the peaceful kind—but the cold, suffocating void of near-death. A place between breath and silence, between memory and oblivion. But something warm held me.Arms. Familiar. Strong. Alive. And then—a voice.“I promised… even in death, I’ll find you.”Nicholas.His voice tore through the fog like sunlight through storm clouds, drawing me back. The Moon Will BleedNicholas’s POVThe moon turned red.Not the soft rust of an eclipse. But blood red—ominous and burning, as if the sky itself was weeping for what was to come.We all saw it.Wolves howled and then harkened frozen in mid-howl, they seeming to hear in the skies a knell of death. Witches left their incantations halfway through and spells stagnated in the air as though fire burned at the border of extinction. Earth itself took breath. At the edge of the forest there was a scream of wind--unnatural, dry, metallic. It smelled of sulfur, ash and something more ancient. Something was wrong.Killian’s eyes narrowed, lips tight. “The omen’s real.”Ashley stepped beside me, her tone like frost. “The prophecy’s begun.”I didn’t need to ask which prophecy. I already knew. I had memorized every line, every warning etched in the stars, because it all pointed to her.The moon will bleed, and light will fall. If the vessel breaks, the shadows will rise. If she dies… the world dies

The Corruption WithinAzaria’s POVDarkness cradled me like a mother. Cold. Merciless.I no longer knew how long ago that I was put in the chain here in this place a desolated ruin, filled with dust of bone and with the stench of ages of torment. Blood was smelled in the air, old but not recent enough to be forgotten. I was chained and my wrists were sore, chained by etched iron cuffs intended to oppress, not just wolf, not just witch, but me.Something writhed beneath my skin. Not mine. Not right. The tendrils had started small—threadlike veins of black curling across my arms, slithering like oil under glass. Now they pulsed, thicker, embedded in my flesh. I could feel them moving, feeding, dragging me deeper into something I couldn’t claw my way out of.A soft chant echoed through the cavernous space.Voices. Two of them.Selene’s was silk and venom. My mother’s… hollow and relentless. My eyes were opened, and I immediately wish they hadn't been. They came to meet me garbed in shado

Into the DarknessNicholas’s POVThe air got still thicker as we moved down deeper into the cave. It lay against his skin like a second skin, lights wet and electric and humming with something old and wrong-seeming. My wolf snarled under my flesh, pacing with restless fury. We were close. I could feel her.I could feel Azaria.“Ash,” I said over my shoulder, “tell the others to close off the western tunnel. If this goes sideways, we can’t risk the corruption spreading.”Ashley gave a sharp nod and disappeared down the branching tunnel with three wolves in tow. That left me, Killian, and a dozen loyal fighters—those who hadn’t flinched when I said we’d be walking into the jaws of death to retrieve someone who might already be gone. But I refused to believe that. There came a low growl deep out in the cavern system, and a shriek as unnatural as to raise the hair on the back of my arms.“They know we’re here,” Killian muttered.“Let them.”We moved fast. Shadows darted across the walls a
