Emerson POV,

He pulled away wringing his hands in the air, with a smile seeing the blush on my cheeks like a tomato.

"Other girls wouldn't know."

"Maybe I'm not like other girls." Father always tells me this and I believed every bit of it because I could sense eberygybfrom wherever I am- strange and familiar.

What was Alpha Ryders' energy like? I. . .

"You're just like other girls," he stepped closer. "Ordinary lips." His strong paws caressed my lips. "Ordinary gaze." He slowly traced his hands down reaching my cleavage. I stormed back to reality.

"I have to go inside." I pulled away. I didn't have to go but all the words he had hurdles inside about us being mates and him aiming in every direction pained me.

"Cat eye, sure you think you're a mystery there, everyone here has amber eyes to think you're cursed." I drop the glass and focus on the short-haired woman in her red dress interlacing the glass waist with attention to the crowd. It was a fuckable dress, the kind of dress a man can easily bypass if he wants in between your legs.

"Is your Alpha like this? He's everywhere. That's so discerning of him."

"He's too good to be true." She seeped in.

"A glass of Moscow mule." Judging by the sudden drift of attention from the lady I knew I had stunned two people this night but this one didn't matter as I have my eyes on my mate flirting and sucking a drink from the chest of a woman, imagining his mouth on another.

"Make sure you serve her water through the evening."

"I'm perfectly capable of deciding what I will have for the evening." I point to the coupon. "I can use the coupon."

She smirked at me, I hated the arrogance, she was good-looking with her brown skin that buttercream.

"Good."

I stood up straight and call the bartender back over. "I will have a glass of juice please."

The bartender glanced at me, then at the annoying brownie. Then back at me. “I’m sorry, ma’am. I’ve been asked to serve you water.”

"I thought you said amber eyes are a normal phenomenon here, do I get discriminated against too?"

She smiled stretching out her arm. "Wren." She said calmly like she hadn't provoked me enough.

I clicked my tongue and seat her hand away. "You're too pompous to be a slave. An Alpha?"

"Yes, and you?"

She rubbed her hand through it and I growled. "A Beta. Girl, take out your coat. In New Orleans, there is only one Alpha." She raised her head looking ahead of us. "Alpha Ryder Loworth."

"What's for her?"

"She's taking the water," Wren said. Why she insisted on the water, I was attracted to her because of her ample attitude.

They ruled this place and I was a newbie. I ruled her out because of her chauvinistic attitude.

"You didn't let me explain why I would like for you to have water."

I rolled my head in her direction. "I didn't realise I owe you my time."

"Does Alpha Ryder knows of this attitude of yours? You're too demanding, in fact untamed. An omega talking back at me. I wonder what I'm doing here by your side."

I was at the corner all my life, if I'm starting anew then I have to put up my best.

She sneered at Alpha Ryder's direction. And I flung away from her.

"Hey, reptile! Wanna try this?" I perked my brow at her and slid down the stairs.

"What is that?" I ask.

"Don't mean to scare you. It is just a drink. To show our excitement that you have finally decided to us."

The sneer on his face was very cocky and undermining. I grabbed the drink, staring into the crowd and seeing Alpha Ryder's hands on some girls, despite knowing the fact made my wolf scream.

"Doesn't taste bad." I smiled. He then clicked his finger in the air as if ordering them to bring something. Before my eyes could comprehend the alter murkiness behind us I see a lady walking out of it with cubes on it.

"This is New Orleans brownies. I have heard how people tend to escape from the true world using a pathway. This will portal you to another dimension."

His words! "Is that so? What do you call it again?" I ask with more focus this time.

"Seems like you have no idea." He dripped his glass on the hardwood table and picked one from the tray. At first, I thought it was laced with poison.

"We don't have anything like this back in our place." Except for pellets, that is what Nicholas would call it, he takes something like this when he is angry or takes it out on others.

"Let me." I grab the second cube from the tray and shunned it down, it tastes horrible but if it will teleport me I don't mind flying in the wind.

He offered me another one, I took it and bite it down. "What! Why are you laughing, this is just a piece of cake?"

I look into his eyes and ask for another one.

"You don't dare ask for another one of reptilian eyes."

He couldn't help but continue laughing while I finished almost ten cubes. It tastes like tamarind with some sharp smell I would call ethanol, it didn't taste too awful. It was a great thing that the game ended at ten.

I felt all right for a while then I yerked all over the floor. The man laughed and then went upside my head. The whole world seemed so small, I could see everything in its small size and I became the big world.

"I feel on top of the world." I tapped his shoulder and he stepped closer to me, I could see that look, it was familiar. I stuttered. Fear gripped me but I have no control over my body I began to belch long loud belches that burned like fire.

I don’t remember being sick to my stomach but I must have been, because when I opened my mouth to let out another burning belch, I yarked again instead, but he pulled me along with him into the dark my heart shivered, panic striking me.

"Someone help me." My voice was too low to be heard from afar. I felt an arm hitting the man and pulling me towards him.

"Help me! He is in there, I can't!" I feel his hand wrap my head closer to his chest. Alpha Ryder whispered into my ear.

"I'm here, you're safe with me, Em." I felt the soft sound in my ears, he was like a broad shoulder, and I can't remember anyone calling me 'Em' for a long time. I clenched tight onto his arm relaxing my head into his broad chest.

I taste her sweetness on my tongue and it makes me lick my lips.I drink at the sight of her rosy cheeks, the excitement from the kiss we shared staining her skin, her breast swelling under her v-neck t-shirt with every breath she takes. She looked like the goddess of sex until then blood drained from her face. Panic tightened her features and then her eyes filled with fear. Her trembling hands catch my eyes and her gasps begin to come faster until I start to wonder whether she is about to hyperventilate. I’m a little surprised by Enerson's reaction, she kissed me back, fucking melting into my arm but still, she looks at me with horror as if I fucking attacked her.I take a step towards her but her hands fly up in warning. “Don’t.” Her voice strained with panic and she sank in a frantic breath. “Don't ever to

I thought you were a worker but you're peeping on the Alpha.”Keven muttered under his breath, was he going to cast me, I wasn't even expecting him at this point. My limb felt weak so I remained in my position just as I felt like I had regained some control over my body a strong scent hit my nose, it smelled like lemon and grass and cedarwood.

Loworth POV,I stopped to look at Emerson she was so engrossed in getting the document completed, a small smile crochet at the corner of my tip, she will do it well, I know she isn't the one to back down easily and while doing it she will take her time to forget about the tragic event that happened to her.“Let's check the supply before we go in for the meeting.” Monaco nodded to my instruction.I walked with Monaco to the safe keep in the hotel, the hotel business was what my father started from behind whenI was still small, originally all the meetings the the other Alphas were supposed to be held in the pack house but when Smith's father started misbehaving he changed the location of the pack meeting to the human world.“We have gotten our hand on shipment CA-456, which means we got an edge on Smith,” Monaco said satisfied.“Smith will be in uproar tonight. And that means one thing, he will want to take Emerson by all means especially now that he knows her powers.”I have Monaco a t
