"Um...oh... the forest..." she began uneasily. "Yes. The forest Mara," he repeated, saying her name just as she liked it on his lips. To think that all this while he had been referring to her by her gender when things were seemingly ordinary between them, but now he was very much pissed; he had to start calling her name. Mara felt terrible about the development because it meant he disliked her. He despised her name and tormented her with the thought that he would only say it when he was pissed at her. There was no chance of becoming his Luna or being close to him. He also did not trust her, which made her feel bad. For all he might be thinking, he had suspicions that she was a spy for Grimshaw. After all, if his former lover Esmeralda could betray him as she had, he would be justified to suspect her. But this certainly was not fair. Mara used to think after hearing the full explanation that the bond between mates was stronger. Old Sonya did say after all that, it kept them fr
"Just now...in anger. Liar!!!" she yelled at him.He did not like being referred to as a liar or what he was feeling at this point. He rose from the edge of the table and stood facing her."You think I don't burn too? Do you think I'm heartless? All I do is for your good and safety. I avoid saying your name because I don't want to hurt you ever." he said"I don't care if you do," she whispered under her breath"But I do. I care, Mara. I keep seeing you every time. I keep fighting not to grab you knowing that if I do, I cannot stop." he said"Then grab me," she said and stepped forward, reaching for his hand. He made to pull away, but she caught his right hand. Mara had no experience with men, but certainly, she did not mind learning with a man she was destined for. She took his palm, placed it on her chest reassuringly, and then looked him straight in the eyes. She could see that even as he tried fighting it, he was on the verge of crying himself. That was enough for her. They had to
Sebastian woke up that morning feeling blissful. It was not the usual lonely feeling, and he instantly could tell the reason for what would seem like the sudden change. With her head resting on his free arm, she was beside him, snuggled close to his chest. He did not want to wake her, yet he wanted to see her face very well and gently propped her into a better position for snuggling. Now, he could see her looking so beautiful and peaceful in her sleep. He still could not get over his head what had happened the previous night, but Sebastian was sure he wanted it to repeat itself. Her scent and light snores made him smile. She has been exhausted because he knew her as a light sleeper. Yes, you might be surprised at how he came to know that but what she did not know, and what everyone did not know, was that most times, he would come up to rest on the statue beside her window. He would watch her sleep from afar but never dared to enter for fear that she might wake up at the moment
Yes, he walked there and caught on different scents at once, including his father, which was confusing as the man alpha was already dead. At the point of his confusion about the place, she showed herself startling him with her voice and sudden appearance. "We have been waiting for you," she said. Instantly and intuitively, Sebastian flung himself into wolf mode, drawing out claws and fangs; and exposing the bright eyes of an omega. "Who are you, and where are the others?" he demanded. She chuckled and walked closer, passing him to sit, toying with her hair while he swirled in defense mode. "Sit, werewolf. The spirits have been encaustic in their desire to meet you," she said softly. "What spirits? What are you? A medium or sorceress?" he demanded, calming just a little "I am whatever you make me now sit," she said. He suddenly did not see her as a threat anymore but joined her on the ground. She told him herself that he sought his brother, and Sebastian agreed. That was when sh
"You cannot be serious," Silas said to him. "Hey, keep it down. You don't want everyone to hear now, do you?" Sebastian said to him with a hiss "No one can, and since when did you..." Silas began but was cut short by Sebastian's most unwanted intruder. "I heard," Waylan said, emerging from around a pillar "No, you did not. Now keep moving." Sebastian barked "I will but has anyone seen Mara?" Waylan asked, obviously trying to piss him off further "No," Silas said. However, Sebastian was not buying it at all. "What's your business with her?" he asked. "Oh, nothing, alpha. I just promised to accompany her to pick fruits today," he said to him. "Silas would accompany her," Sebastian said "Why me?" Silas asked "Because..." Sebastian began as he approached a quite jumpy Waylan and put his arm around his neck. " Waylan and I have a trip to make." "Wait, what? I thought I was to accompany you there." Silas pointed out "Plans changed," Sebastian said without waiting for him to sp
He started explaining to her that it was only during the first turning that it felt excruciating, but as a werewolf gets used to it, the pain subsides. Mara asked what the first turning was like as her finger drew something on his chest. He wondered what she was writing and hoped it was endearing. He explained that the first time was like all the bones breaking into many pieces and then getting reshaped to fit into a wolf's form. He felt her flinch but cupped her face to tell her not to worry. There was much more to being a wolf than all the pain. Mara smiled at him.Sebastian decided it was time to let her know of the journey he would be undertaking. He had to see someone as regards their safety, he had said to her, and she nodded. Seeing the hint of sadness in her eyes, Sebastian smiled. It was nothing to worry about, absolutely, he said to her. He was going through neutral grounds that were barely used, which was partly true. It was not neutral grounds until one got closer to G
Chapter 23The witch had to be joking; Sebastian wondered why Mara would have to die on earth if he did not bring her to the witch's place. He already knew that getting her to the site would be a lot of danger and trouble in the sense that she was no werewolf and had not the strength and speed they had. Mara would be a drag on their journey as she would delay and cause them to lose a lot of time. That was not even as dangerous as what would happen if they happened to run into Grimshaw or any of his cronies. He did not have a whole pack yet and might not stand a chance at Grimshaw's army. The previous night had worked in his favor by sheer luck and an element of surprise. Those soldiers had been shocked at encountering the berserker himself and were indeed not prepared for what had come to them. That was nothing like now; he had known her to be his mate. She was his weakness and downfall; she could even cost his life this time. It was dangerous, and he needed an alternative to this
It and at this point that Gwen stepped in. She had been watching all along and probably thought things were beginning to get well heated between the two. She called out to Grimshaw in that lovely voice, and the latter answered her by showering praises on her beauty. He told her that he had also brought her gifts and nodded to one of his men that stepped forward bearing a small chest. He opened it before her and cooed with teenage delight that got Sebastian angry. It made him feel stupid, but he knew well enough she was playing along to protect everyone from whatever angry thoughts were cooking up in their various minds. She began that she had not been expecting Grimshaw, but now he was there, she could see him. Turning to Sebastian, she reminded him they were done, and he may leave. Sebastian nodded but not without one final glance at Grimshaw. When he looked, the older wolf was staring right at him as if to say he was coming next for him. Perhaps he felt he had let him live quite
