Jenny’s POV

The next morning came quicker than I wanted. My alarm felt like a rude interruption to the restless night I’d spent tossing, replaying J’s words in my head—my soon-to-be wife. I shook it off and forced myself up, telling myself today was a new day, a chance to focus on work.

By the time I got to the office, the floor was already buzzing with activity. Phones rang nonstop with people dashed across the hallways with files in hand, and keyboards clicked in hurried rhythm.

I set my bag down and tried to centre myself. Five minutes later, an email notification popped up on my screen. My heart skipped when I saw the sender: CEO’s Office.

My hands felt clammy as I clicked it open.

Ms. Walker, you’ll be responsible for handling my correspondence and documentation. Everything is to be sent through email. Accuracy is expected. No mistakes.

No greeting just those words. It was curt, almost cold. Still, the fact that he had directly addressed me—on only my second day—sent my pulse rac

Rachel’s POVThe internet had turned against me, and it was all Jenny’s fault.Everywhere I looked, there she was: clips of her standing tall in that cafeteria, clips of her presenting at Sterling, clips of her pretending to be some hardworking saint. And me? I was the villain. The bully and the spoiled brat who never grew up.It was infuriating. I sat at the dining table that morning my phone was buzzing nonstop. My father’s voice broke through the silence, and he was furious.“Rachel, do you realize what you’ve done?” He shoved his phone in my direction. “Do you know how many calls I’ve had to take since yesterday? Investors, Partners, Friends. Everyone wants to know why my daughter is humiliating this family in public!”My mother’s lips curled with disgust. “You’ve made us a joke, Rachel, you've made us a laughingstock. People are saying the Madison name isn’t worth what it used to be. Do you understand the damage you’ve caused?”My heart thudded, but I lifted my chin. “It'snot my

Rex’s POV I leaned back in my chair, watching the headlines roll in across the monitors. Jenny’s face is everywhere, and Rachel’s arrogance caught in those clips, replayed on the screen mockingly—the cafeteria event and video, while internet warriors make the comparisons. The storm I’d been waiting for, and I've waited for Jenny to take action all this time. Finally.A smile crept across my lips. “Yes,” I murmured. “That’s my girl.” “Sir?” Ethan stepped into my office, his tablet in his hand. “Is everything ready?” He nodded. “The clips are lined up—cafeteria, school throwbacks, your project montage. I can push them in waves.” “Do it,” I said. Ethan hesitated. “Sir, if we send all of this, the internet will come for you, too. People will connect it back. They’ll drag your name as well” “Let them,” I cut him off. My voice was steadily calm. “Let them drag me. This is the beginning of the Madison family’s problems.” Ethan studied me for a while, then nodded and left to execute th

Jenny’s POV“How long has Rachel even been working here?” I asked, lowering my voice. The cafeteria was still buzzing from what had happened earlier, the memory of Rachel’s words echoing in my head.Lena rolled her eyes dramatically. “About a month. And she’s already made herself the office nightmare. She struts around threatening to get people fired if they don’t do what she says.”Ivan leaned in, smirking but with irritation in his eyes. “She wasn’t hired the normal way either. She was personally placed in the design department by the former CEO. No interviews, no process. Just… boom, Rachel Madison, self-proclaimed boss.” I blinked at him, stunned. “So everyone here is just letting her walk all over them?”Lena sighed. “Honestly? People complain constantly. But because she flaunts her family name, no one wants to push too far. She’s been using that Madison surname like a shield.”I shook my head. “She’s still the same girl from high school.”“Exactly,” Ivan muttered. “And trust me

Jenny’s POVA year. That’s how long I had worked at Sterling Corporation, yet the CEO remained nothing more than a shadow behind a closed office door. The only trace of him was Ethan, his assistant who moved in and out of that office like a bridge between two worlds.Ethan was polite. He always gave me a small, knowing smile when our paths crossed, sometimes dropping a folder or instruction from “the boss.” Over time, I became used to his presence. We even attended meetings and corporate galas together, where I was asked to take notes, represent departments, or inspect projects in the CEO’s name. Still, the man himself—the mysterious Mr Knight never showed his face.Knight. The name itself was like a hook pulling at my chest. Rex’s surname was Knight, too. I tried not to think about it. Coincidence, I told myself. Nothing more. Rex was engaged and belonged to someone else. So, I buried the thought and focused on my work.Meanwhile J’s men, his silent suited bodyguards never failed

Rex’s POVMy phone screen lit up with Rachel’s name. My chest tightened as if my ribs were about to crack. Ever since that girl had the nerve to drag Jenny’s name back into the cesspool of the internet, I had been waiting for this call. The second I picked up, her voice was like nails scraping glass. “Did you see the comments, sweetheart? Poor little Jenny Walker your beloved orphan has become everyone’s favourite gossip again.” She laughed, high-pitched, ugly. “I told you, she’ll never escape me.”I clenched my jaw so tight I thought my teeth would snap. My voice, however, came out calm. Too calm. “Rachel, I know you’re behind this circus. If you dare go after Jenny again, I will destroy what’s left of your family’s dignity.”Silence. Then her laugh rang out louder, like a mock “Destroy us? Rex, you forget—you’re engaged to me.That makes you mine. And still—after everything—you take her side? You can’t hide your obsession, can you?” Her tone dropped into bitterness, sharp as a knife

Jenny’s POVThe top floor of Sterling Corporations was always too quiet.Unlike the lower levels, where phones rang endlessly and conversations spilt out of glass-walled meeting rooms, there was only stillness here.My footsteps echoed as I walked, the sound bouncing against the polished marble and high ceilings. Most days, I was the only one here besides the man behind the closed office at the end of the hall—the CEO.That evening, I stayed later than usual. Papers were scattered across my desk, the glow of my desk lamp throwing a halo of light over my notes while the rest of the floor sank into shadow. I was focused, but the silence grew heavier with every minute. My ears began to catch the tiniest sounds—the creak of the building and the faint hum of the ventilation system.A door unlocking and this made me freeze. The metallic click was sharp and deliberate. My heart raced as the sound of footsteps followed, slow but heavy. Someone else was here.I turned toward the corridor, my
