6 The crazy ducklings

After that crazy event at the cafeteria, I felt exhausted already. Especially the special attention that those other kids gave, as if I have done a crime. Anyways, it is much better that I wasn't sent flying to the hospital like the other student.

I went to the locker and grabbed my books for the afternoon classes when someone leaned at both my sides. I didn’t bother to look at them but I know they are staring at me. What’s this?

“Hey, are you the cafeteria girl?” Asked by the blonde hottie at my right, if I remember it right she is a part of the cheerleader squad and I often see her at sports events. I slowly turned my attention to her, she got quite a pretty face. Those blue eyes and drunk blush makeup looks good on her, it makes her look a bit dreamy. As expected from the famous girls league.

“Why are you just looking? I was so late that I didn’t see the whole thing.” she continued and I just listened, it’s weird for her to talk to a silent soul like me.

“Are you hitting on Maynard?” She added that makes me think what kind of nonsense she’s talking about. Me? Hitting on a guy? Oh no, I am way too noob for such things.

“I don’t know what you are talking about, it’s true that there’s an accident but hitting on guys? That's not my cup of tea.” I heard the other girls laugh, then the one who’s on the other side suddenly grabbed my shoulder and made me face her.

“Hey little bitch, don't you have an attitude? Do you even know who you are talking with?” a way taller girl with a chocolate bob haircut tries to intimidate me, she continues to chew when she talks.

Is this how jealous fangirls would corner an innocent heroine who was involved with their favorite guy?

This is absurd , I just disapprovingly shook my head and sighed at them, this won’t threaten me. I've been the worst before and this is so trivial  to waste my time.

“I don’t know what you mean but I have no such intention like that. So if you would excuse me I have a class to attend.” I told them and surprisingly they seemed shocked and contemplated on how to ingest my answer. Then the blonde girl again was persistent and now even grabbed my wrist.

“Hey, I know people like you. Pretending to be bumpkins and acting innocent to get the attention of some other guys, you think your play will work?” Oh my gosh, this is ridiculous, did she not hear what I said earlier? And as if being so proud that she hit my so-called pretend, a mischievous smirk shows. My instinct tells me that these girls won’t stop unless I walk in fear and shame. As I thought of it the three girls started to circle around me, the other students were looking but no one thought of interfering.

The third girl who’s hair is ponytailed and the shortest of all was the first to grab me by the collar. She tries to threaten me by gripping it and pushing a bit harder but I don’t budge.

You think I'll give you what you want?

Instead I look at her eyes, not even blinking.

“What? You have something to say?” I know she’s a bit baffled seeing that I didn't even flinch or bothered with her actions.

Like my mom always told me, if someone tries to threaten me or is arguing, just stare intently into their eyes. It can tell if they are just uffing or really intent to hurt you.

If they waver, you won.

This has worked a lot of time for me so I’m used to it, I am now adept on how to read a person with how their eyes express themselves. Because the eye is the entrance to one's soul.

Right now, her eyes blinked several times and her pupils were wavering. Then she looked at the other two girls who were waiting for any reaction. I think it is now time to speak up , I will be late for class if I stay here.

“As I’ve said, I don’t have such intentions and I prefer to leave now because I have class.” slowly the girl holding onto me let go of my collar. What’s with these people grabbing my collar? It’s the second one for today, I complained to myself.

Just as I was able to turn, the blonde girl still hasn;t let go and has a few more spiteful words to throw at me.

“Bumpkins like you won’t even get laid or what, don’t put high hope on having Maynard on your pants.” and as if they regained the bullying act, the other girls started to overpower and throw more words at me.

“Hah! Such ugly face, how can she live with that?” I know, it’s their game, it is how they try to break the minds of those they target.

“Looks like another wannabe who wants to get into rich people, you think prince charming will help you?” and the girl with the bob cut hit it last.

Myself is just average and I know it, but for them to insult me like some leech trying to do such an act is something I won’t let pass. I was about to open my mouth and talk back when I heard someone speak up loud that silenced everyone.

“How entertaining, is this how you little ladies live your student life? How pitiful, overpowering an innocent one.” All attention looked at her, with the voice so soothing yet so noble, just hearing it sends chills to your veins. What more once she blesses you with her great appearance.

Faera Krieson.

No one on this campus who doesn’t know of this name.

You can say if these girls are the cheerleaders squad whom every boy looks at, Faera is the goddess. She’s so popular in the whole campus that even other universities know of her name.

With those dark black velvet hair that reaches to her waist, the tall and voluptuous figure of a woman, and those mesmerizing sharp hazel colored eyes, her pointed nose perfectly accentuates her face plus the plump red lips that even Jolie can’t compare to. She’s like an aristocratic lady living in the 20th century. They call the “duchess” , it fits her, she looks so prim and proper, her elegance shows in every move she does.

We are not friends or best pals, but we have hung out ever since we’ve been seatmates on one of our major subjects. I find it amazing but we clicked and ever since then I have come to be on good terms with her.

“Let go of her, you know that targeting someone who’s got nothing to do at all is not worth it right?” her voice is calm but somehow, I always find it so strange, those look at her eyes at the way she speaks. It’s as if she’s chanting a spell.

It was all quiet and then I turned to look at these three girls circling around me, as if they became deaf, the look on their faces as well are all blank. Strange.

“We’re leaving.’ it’s just that simple and the rest of them followed like a mother goose and ducklings. I was still pondering what happened when Faera spoke to me.

“Are you okay dear?” she turns to me, her concerned voice is soothing.

“I’m fine, maybe it’s not just my day.” and shrugged my shoulders and fixed my collar that’s been crumpled with the grip.

“I see, let’s go together at the next class.” she urges me , we have some idle talk as we walk on  our way. Until we reached the classroom, we talked about the incident between my Manager and the police, the phone call with the stepmother and even the recent bumping with the Yngvidrs.

“You have quite a lot today I guess” she replied laughing, to others they may see it rude to laugh at one's misfortune but knowing Faera, she deals with it like nothing. She’s a good listener and adviser, sometimes I think she ‘s like an older sister to lean on. I am comfortable sharing my inner thoughts without any filter at all.

We are laughing and talking about how funny they almost got bullied me earlier, when we noticed someone’s presence.

“Hey there, meet me again?” That voice made me stop ang close my mouth. I looked at him,

It’s the same eye as before but now it looks so different, it's gentle and longing. Weird! I scream my mind and turn my eyes from him.

What is he doing here? Did he want to send another child to the hospital?

“Dear, look at me when I talk to you. I’m quite a jealous man so don’t look the other way, understand?” My eyes widen with the touch. Ugh! He caught my face! Does he want to break my neck first? Oh God, please don’t! It’ll be hard for me to recover fast if he does so!

“Excuse me, but it is rude to touch a lady's face without her permission.” It was Faera, she is the only one who would stand for me. She’s really my saviour.

“I dare not to intervene with you Madam Krieson, my interest here is this human girl.”

“Yes I know, but can’t see you, with your sudden gesture you may scare her out. So let go of her face and have a human talk.” The way they refer to each other is intimidating, as if I am hearing a script of some play. Those weird remarks, madam? Child? And… Human girl?

I snap out of it.

“Wait! Can you let go? And what’s with that weird talk? Aren’t you human too?” I raised an eyebrow to this unformidable Maynard Yngvidr. I hate the way he treated me. Grabbing my collar, throwing to the floor and even threatening to smell? It creeps me out. I don’t want to have any of his attention.

I expect him to retort and be angry at my snap, however what he said leaves me speechless.

“That’s way too brave honey, I like it.” H-honey? Why does this man speak sweetly? Did he change into a different person?

“What the ---” I am to curse him however, with a puppy look on his face that is so out of character of him, as if seducing me with such a gentle voice he once again opened his mouth that flows out of trap for his prey.

“I like your boldness. So tell me, would you like to mate with me?”

Crack!

This man is shameless!
