Catalina
I hate him. I hate him. I hate him. I could only think this as I signed the papers. He knew my weakness and used it against me. Clearly he knows everything about me and I don't even know his name.
“At least be kind enough to tell me your name. Or should I just call you Master?”
A deep chuckle rumbled from his throat. So the beast could actually laugh.
“Miguel Alejandro.”
The name sounded familiar but I couldn't place my finger on it so I just brushed the thought aside.
“Why, Miguel?”
“Why what?”
“Why me? Why do you even want a slave?”
“You interest me that's why. You do things to me just by giving me that death stare.” He let out a sigh. “I want a slave because you're bound by a contract, you will do anything I say. Relationships are meaningless to me, you have more freedom in a relationship and I don't want that. As a slave, you have no choice.”
“Psychopath!”
“This psychopath is actually saving you.”
He was right, the money he was giving me would really go a long way in helping me. Plus the company, I could use that to actually start up my life. The contract was only for a year. After one year, I would be free and I would have a company to myself. Even though this decision was one I wasn't proud of, I tried to look at the bright side of it. If I work everyday for one year, I still wouldn't pay off my debt. As much as I hated this, it was a win for me too.
“Let's go!” He commanded.
“Where?”
“My house of course, didn't you read the contract? You'll be living with me.”
———————————————
Miguel's mansion was like a fortress, the gates were surrounded by armed men. Surveillance cameras were everywhere I turned. Servants filled the house and were scurrying around to assist me with whatever I needed. Who is Miguel Alejandro? Why did he need so much security?
“This is Gabriella.” Miguel introduced me to a fine looking woman, she should be in her forties I presumed.
“Hello, my name is Gabriella.” The woman introduced herself and beamed a smile at me.
“Gabriella is the head of affairs of this house, she can get you anything you need.”
“Nice to meet you Gabriella, I'm Catalina.”
“I know.” She said and let out a smile. How did she know? I wondered. Did they talk about me already?
Gabriella took me to my room and promised to take me round the house once I have rested, she told me when dinner would be ready and also informed me that she would be going to pick up my clothes the next morning. When I asked why I couldn't pick up my clothes by myself, she only smiled and walked away.
I grabbed my phone and made a quick search on the internet.
Miguel Alejandro, ruthless leader of the Viperas mafia. A gang involved in illicit crimes such as gambling, drug trafficking, prostitution, extortion, fraud, loan sharking, protection rackets and many others. Considered to be highly dangerous, have never been caught, rumored to be in cahoots with the police and politicians.
What did I just get myself into? No wonder there was something dark about him. A Mafia boss? Did I just agree to be a slave to such a dangerous man? I held my chest tightly as fear gripped me, this wasn't what I bargained for, I've just become part of a dangerous and dark world. He lied to me…if I had known I wouldn't have agreed to this. What do I do now? Is it too late to cancel the contract? Whoever canceled the contract first has to pay a fine of ten million, I'm too poor to pay ten million. I'm going to confront him, he shouldn't have lied to me.
I left my room and went to his, I remembered Gabriella showing me his room before we got to mine. I knocked and knocked for minutes but no answer.
“Boss is not at home.” I jumped in fear and turned around. This guy was huge and he held a gun across his arms.
“Where did he go?”
“Business.” He simply said and headed back to his post.
I walked aimlessly around the house until I found Gabriella, she was giving the chef instructions on what to make for dinner.
“From tomorrow you are to make breakfast for Miguel, am I right?” she asked.
“Yes.” Cooking breakfast for him was part of the contract as his slave. Just how much did Gabriella know about everything?
“Where is Miguel?” I asked her.
“Out for business. Do you need anything?”
“No.” I simply said. “I'll be in my room.”
As I walked to my room, I wondered how every other person called him boss while Gabriella called him by his first name.
I heard Miguel come back and I waited for an hour before going to meet him. I just needed to confront him, to ask him why he didn't tell me all these things about himself.
“Come in.” I heard from inside as I knocked on his door.
He was shirtless and only wore sweatpants underneath. I swallowed hard and marveled at the work of art standing in front of me. I wanted so badly to reach out and touch his chest, to trace my hands along those fine muscles. You hate him! Don't forget! I reminded myself of the hatred I was harboring for this man.
“When will you stop staring, Catalina?” “Do you need anything? I have a lot of work to do.”
“Why didn't you tell me you were such a vile and evil man? Why did you lie to me?” I blurted out the questions. “I need an answer!”
But Miguel kept mute, he only looked at me, in a way that made me uncomfortable and nervous, like at the club.
“Say….say something.” I stammered.
He took slow steps towards me and looked deep into my eyes.
“Strip Catalina. Take off your clothes.”
CATALINAI became the ghost queen.Running things from the background with my new ‘Face.’ A guy I employed after a deep background search and loyalty tests carried out to avoid what happened with Andrés repeating itself. He became my eyes and ears in the outside world, while I called the shots from the inside.People said I was still mourning my dead husband, but the truth was that I was hiding my pregnancy from everyone. If people knew Miguel had a child, I feared Pablo or other enemies might come out to eliminate me and the Alejandro bloodline. As for the Viperas, they didn't have any problems accepting me as their new leader. They were skeptical at first when they heard of Miguel's death, but apparently, they liked the way I dealt with Andrés. They said I proved that I could be a ruthless leader like Miguel if the need be.I made sure the rumors about what I did to Pablo and Olivia spread in the underworld like wildfire. No one should think they could come for us because Miguel was
CATALINAGabriella stopped me as I tried to open the door.“You can't just barge in!”“Of course I can, that's exactly why we planned this operation. He may not be with Pablo now but I'll learn something if I go in there.”“It's dangerous.”“It will be dangerous for them, not me. They killed my husband, they should be scared…of me.”I grabbed a gun. “Are you coming?”“Yes.”I went in with Gabriella and three men while the rest surrounded the house. One of the men broke the door and we rushed in and my eyes saw what I never imagined it would see.Andrés and Olivia, kissing. They got startled when they saw us and immediately disentangled from each other.Andrés laughed. “I should have known it was too good to be true when you left me with a knife and the door open.”“You should have known, I thought you were smart.”I weighed Olivia from head to toe. If I was being honest with myself, she was beautiful and pretty hot. “We finally meet, Olivia.”She held her stance with confidence. “I c
CATALINAThe air in the basement was cold and damp, heavy with the scent of sweat, iron, and fear. A rusted table stood in the center of the room, littered with tools like pliers, knives, and other cruel instruments arranged carefully. A lot had happened in the space of a few hours.Andrés sat sprawled to the ground, tied up and bleeding. He hadn't even been there for a full 24 hours but I made sure he got tortured to the bones, and even then, he refused to say a word…not a single word. His eyes, filled with hate, stared at me as I walked in. He didn't regard me, I could tell. And I knew he wouldn't tell me a thing, but still…“Hello Andrés,” I greeted, squatting down to meet his eyes.Silence hung in the air.“It's already noon,” I said quietly. “Right now, I should be off somewhere, enjoying my honeymoon with Miguel. He never told me the destination, he said it was a surprise. But I know Miguel would have taken me somewhere nice, somewhere I'd like. It's impossible now, isn't it? B
CATALINAI froze in fear as Andrés approached me, a dark and menacing glint in his eyes. A look that meant he was ready to kill, to end me right there and then. I glanced around me hoping to find something, anything to defend myself with.…but there was nothing.I swallowed hard. Would I join Miguel wherever he was now? But I had life growing in me, I didn't want to die.“Stop Andrés!” My eyes darted towards the door. I breathed in relief as I saw Gabriella standing there with a gun in her hand.“Gabriella,” Andrés smirked. “Are you seriously going to save this woman? She never trusted you. We can end her, we can run this place together, you can be of so much help to me.”“You killed my brother!” Gabriella shook.“Your brother never cared about you! He only used you as an errand girl and when a slight misunderstanding happened, what did he do? He casted you away, for this woman,” Andrés pointed accusing fingers at me.I swallowed hard. “Don't listen to him, Gabriella.”“Shut up, Catal
CATALINANo!Miguel cannot be dead. What nonsense was Andrés spewing?Must be a joke. A prank! I breathed deeply and let out a bitter laugh.“Is this a joke?”But Andrés didn't look like he was joking, he held me tightly, patting my back as a way of comfort.“Stop it,” I ordered. “Stop treating me like a woman in mourning, Miguel is not dead.”He let me go slowly. “I hope so too. I deeply wish it isn't true and I don't have to be the one sharing such bad news.” “But I don't want to believe what you are saying, because it's not true!” I glanced at Gabriella, she stood there like a statue, she was probably in shock too.“You don't believe him right? You don't believe that your brother is dead, do you?”“Explain it to us, Andrés,” Gabriella murmured.“There was an explosion at the front. I saw him go down, Catalina. We couldn’t get to him in time, the fire spread too quickly. There was nothing left, except…”“Except what?”He brought out a burnt ring…Miguel's ring, the ring we just ex
CATALINAI had a nightmare.I jolted up, drenched in sweat and panting like a chased deer. Miguel left me, and I kept looking for him, running around. Then I fell and screamed out his name, but he didn't answer, and he didn't come to save me either.“Are you okay?” He woke up too and gave me a calming hug.I held him tight, scared to let go. “Promise me you'll never leave,” I said between pants. “Don't ever leave me..”Miguel chuckled lightly. “Are you having doubts on our wedding day?”Oh yes. I remembered. Today is supposed to be my wedding day. Could be why I had such a scary nightmare.“I just had a bad dream, that's all.” I assured him.He gave me a comforting kiss. “You're nervous, I understand. But I'm still going to say this… I, Miguel Alejandro, will never leave you Catalina.”I tried to ease the weight pressing on my chest with a teasing smile. “Save the vows for later.”“I can say my vows to you everyday if it'll assure you of my undying love.”I believed him. Miguel woul
MIGUELWas it the upcoming wedding or Pablo that made me so uneasy?I was ready, ready to fight, to spill blood if it was for Catalina's sake. But she told me to hold off, and there was no way I could refuse her request when she looked at me with those eyes. She enchanted me. Like a stubborn witch. And if my witch wanted me all to herself, who was I to say no?Her wish was my command.I took Andrés with me to get a new suit. It was funny though…when I married Olivia I wasn't bothered about looking good. But with Catalina, I went to a spa and now I was at a clothing store, buying the most expensive wedding suit they had in stock.“What do you think about this one?” I asked Andrés.He studied it for a while before nodding. “It looks so good, boss.”“I'm sorry for calling you out,” I apologized, feeling guilty. “You even took a few days off to get better and the day you resume work is the day I'm dragging you around the city to pick an outfit.”Andrés merely shrugged. “I don't mind boss.
CATALINA I was the one getting married, but I wasn't allowed to participate in anything. Gabriella kept overworking herself. Everytime I volunteered to help, she asked me to stay out of it, or to go get my beauty sleep. I slept until I dreaded sleep, and when I complained to Miguel, he would only tell me to listen to Gabriella. The only thing I was allowed to participate in was the dress fitting…. obviously because I was the bride. Gabriella already picked out the dress, I only needed to be present for the sizing. I wanted to lash at her for picking out my dress for me but when I saw what she picked out, I held myself back. The dress was so beautiful, it hung like a masterpiece. It was crafted from ivory silk and laced with gold embroidery. Hand beaded crystals shimmered along the hem like scattered diamonds. Come to think of it, Gabriella always picked out my dresses per Miguel's instructions and she never disappointed. She seemed to always know what would suit me perfectly fo
CATALINA I studied her closely, she didn't look like a traitor. But traitors usually don't look like one, right? She didn't seem fazed by anything, as usual.I noticed she had the calm and composed manner she always maintained.“You keep staring at me,” Gabriella said, her eyes meeting mine.“Do you have a problem with that?” I asked, trying to unnerve her.“I don't think there's anyone who'll be comfortable with being stared at,” her daring eyes were fixed on mine.“Did you plot with Olivia to have me kidnapped?” I blurted out the question, no need beating around the bush.“You still think I did it? Wasn't it Pablo who kidnapped you?”“Well my theory is that this was all orchestrated from the start. I was on my way to meet Olivia when I got kidnapped.”She rolled her eyes, as if what I said made no sense. “I didn't plot with Olivia to do anything.”I didn't believe her. There was no proof to back her claims of innocence.“I want to talk to Olivia. Set a meeting between us.”Gabrie
