25. A letter from whom?

That afternoon, the Auckland sky was covered in clouds. It wasn't hot, but it wasn't cloudy either. A natural phenomenon that seemed to laugh at the uncertainty Jonathan felt. Parakeets flew back and forth as if dancing in Jonathan's turmoil.

Jonathan was standing in his front yard with his eyes gazing up at the sky. His hands were tucked into his pants pockets. Half a year had passed without a single word from Amelie.

The same question popped up every day, every week, and also at the turn of the month. With each passing month, Jonathan would ask himself whether Amelie was still holding on to the fruit of their love and find out what stage of development the fetus was in with each passing month. According to his calculations, Amelie should have given birth this month.

Jonathan took a deep breath as he thought of all the bad things Amelie could do. She might choose to abort the pregnancy. Jo realized that struggling to conceive and raise a child alone was not an easy matter.
