Its been a month, since Evander picked Bella, and has since then, shown her a world, one that wasn't even in her dreams. All she knew was violence, and he gave her peace. All she knew was pain, and he gave her healing, all she saw was blood and gore, he showed her nature and arts and flowers, she was used to the sound of helpless screams and metal, he gave her music, laughter and kind words.
And amidst all of this, he gave her trust, both his and hers, he gave her companionship, love, and even though all of these were great, she knew that this was not her life. This can never be her life. She had to get back, no matter what.
"Penny for your thoughts?"
She looked up.
"I wasn’t thinking about anything."
" you were,"
he said assertively.
"You do that thing where you rub your lower lip with your tongue real fast, and your eyes become smaller and darker, and you only stare at one place."
He said in a breath, leaning on the wall and balancing the tray he had brought in with him. It held chocolate, of all sorts and parfait.
"Whatever."
She scoffed and stood up, extending her hand to take a chocolate, and he slapped her hand away. It wasn’t even a hard slap, but it was seemingly the first act of violence that she had experienced in over a month, so, naturally, she reacted. She stiffened, her wolf trying to take over. She turned quickly, so he wouldn't see her, he was completely oblivious, even though, the wolf smell became stronger in the room.
“calm down, calm down."
She repeated to herself and only turned back to him when she was sure he wouldn’t see anything. He looked at her rather coldly, and she kept her head low.
"You shouldn't have,"
he said, slowly moving to the nearest bedside table to keep the chocolates.
"When you still feel threatened by me, just allow it takeover."
It wasn’t an advice or encouragement, he was angry. His eyes were darker, but he was in control, not his wolf.
"Do what you have to do, then."
He added, and pointed to the chocolates.
" have them. See you later."
He finished and walked out. She didn't follow him immediately, allowing herself calm down and replay the scene in her head. After he slapped her hand, she hadn’t heard anything he was saying, but now, like she was seeing the scene in a movie, she heard him telling her to not take the mediocre tasting ones, as he had made a mistake when taking them, and some of them tasted terrible, so he would choose them for her, and she should learn to be patient. She held her head and shook, trying hard to clear the scene.
It wasn’t even her fucking fault that she was trained to react that way, and for goodness sake, she was starved. Very. She sighed, making a mental note to attend to her starvation later, and calm down a seething alpha now. She took a shower, just to calm her nerves, and changed into a dress. She hated the inconvenience, but she was always the annoyed one and he begging her to eat, calm down and all. She might be trouble, but she knew dignity. She was a delta, she had to act like one. Like, royalty.
"Hey."
He turned his face away, with a "humph" sound. She managed a small smile, even though she thought it was childish.
"You won't talk to me, alpha?"
She pried her head and he turned away again, giving her his back.
"I'm wearing a dress. I'm gonna wear it for just ten minutes. You sure you wanna miss it?"
She said again, and he turned just slightly to peek, but she caught his face in her hand and almost reeled him over.
"Gotcha! You cant stay angry, right? Right? Hmm?"
She hated cute acts. He turned away again. They were in his personal garden, just a little garden, but cute as he had made it.. They were sitting on the trim log, one that he kept there so he could relax, and even though not the most comfortable bedding, sleep.
"You don’t get it."
She was looking into his eyes now, and couldn’t bring herself to look away.
"Its just that, its been a month, or so. I mean, there is nothing that i haven't told you, but you still think I will hurt you, or try to do anything bad to you."
He sighed looking down at his fingers.
"But.."
"But what, Bella? The time isn’t long enough? Cause i think it is. Trust is built within a second, Bella. One month, living with me, you still don’t trust me?"
He cupped her face, and his face was close enough for her to feel his breath.
"I really like you, Bella. Really. And it hurts to think that you still haven't let me in. I don’t want to rush you, we are wolves, we will be okay. I promise."
But they cant. He came even closer, holding her stare.
"I know the whole mate thing."
He pulled pack and stretched his hand, beckoning her. "Be my delta, and I never have to find a mate."
His eyes big and expectant, hers small and unsure. When she did what she was planning to do, he would hate her.
"Don’t think too much,"
he smiled now, forgetting the anger and the seriousness.
"We both, have a lifetime."
He was beaming now, and holding her hand like he didn't want to let go, and she knew he didn’t want to. As if reading her thoughts, he said.
"I don’t want to let you go. Ever."
He rested her head on his shoulder, all the while holding her hand. He then rose it and kissed it, lingering for just a moment, before pulling away and smiling. He hummed in delight, as he looked to the flowers.
When she did what she wanted to do, he would hate her, and maybe, just maybe that hate would be a better burden to carry than the one his love imposed on her. You cant love a bad person, she was meant for Cole, someone who was every inch as bad as she was, and that was a match. She didn't deserve a heart like Evander's, because she could break it. And break it, she will.
She went to the wardrobe, making sure to close the door so she would hear if someone was coming in. Evander always knocks, even if the door was open, but still. She had to make sure. She had left him sleeping on the log in the garden, brought him a blanket and had come here alone. She would need maximum privacy foe what she was about to do. She ransacked, then found it behind thewardrobe, just where she had put it, after the first shopping spree with Evander. She closed it and went to stand by the window. The view was beautiful and it was her favorite place. She saw the gamma, Jake. He didn’t talk much and when Evander introduced her to him, he just smiled, said a "nice to meet you." and excused himself. He was one to fuss, to be honest. He made sure Evander, and since she was Evander's guest, that both of them had their meals, weren’t feeling sick. He was one caring person, very silent, but caring. She looked down a
"You look beautiful."Evander tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and stepped back to look at her again. She smiled."I can't believe you're going out like this. Someone may kidnap you or...or..you know."She laughed, humorlessly. The only one who's dangerous here is me."Stop, its okay. I will be back really soon."She had received a text earlier and the men she had asked for were already at their rendezvous point."Are you sure you don't want me to comealong?"His hands were on both her shoulders. As usual, he was wearing white from head to toe, with his silver ring and blonde hair."I will be okay."He nodded, not quite letting her go. She moved away, putting some distance between them, then turned to the bed to get her phone. She stood straight as he hugged her from behind."I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about this."Her heart was beating wildly in her chest, as she knew he
"Alec! Alec!!! Hey!"Evander was running towards Alec, who was standing at the front of the gate, just where he and Jake had left him."Alec! I know you are angry, but come in. Someone is coming for us."He could only see him, and was running to him, his mind too clouded to make sense of the chaos around him. He was just in time to see three bullets penetrate Alec. Alec fell to his knees, not quite dead, and he saw his head severe from his body. Evander almost passedout. He saw more people running towards him, and away from where he stood, he saw about five men pouring what seemed to be petroleum on the houses, setting them on fire. It all happened so fast, it seemed to him like he was in a 3D film."Evander, get out of here. Even if we all die, we still need you."Jake was holding his hand, running, before they both tripped, hitting the ground, tears filling Evander's eyes. His hands were wrapped around J
"Jake, Alec. Take her to the punishment room. Just leave when you are done. I want to be alone."Evander's voice was so low, they could hardly hear. Jake and Alec looked at each other. They didn’t have a punishment room. Only a correction room, and that was where they left her. Alec glared as he kept her on the available seat, pointing at her with a flashlight. The room was entirely dark, except for his light. She glared back."You have the guts to glare at me, You..""Alec, lets leave."Jake said, holding his hand. Alec fought it out of his grip."She killed all of us, Jake. She killed us, burnt down our houses, she betrayed our Alpha. You just want to let her be? You know Evander. He wont ever do anything to her. He's hurting, all because of her, and he wont ever retaliate."Jake sighed."We are full moon. We are peaceful, we are serenity. We are unity, we are harmony. We are love and trust and virtue. We are forgi
"Jake, where is he?"He looked solemn."Alpha Evander needs his time alone."He kept the food on the bedside table and turned."And the chocolate? Ice cream? Every night, you drop them here."He shook his head and turned to face her."I don't. What? Do you care now?""What are you saying?"He chuckled darkly and sat on the floor, close to the bed."Have you ever, throughout your two weeks here, thought about howthings would be, if Evander didn't possess the gift he had? We would all be dead. You would go back to your pack as the powerful delta who conquered the one pack no one has ever attacked. Evander would be dead too. He would rather commit suicide than watch his pack members die. Do you know what brought us back? The love he has for us. You betrayed that love. You took his transparent glass heart,"he took out a glass figurine from the bedside."And you smashed it on the w
"An official letter from the alpha of split moon, Alpha Cole Richardson, to the Alpha of full moon, Alpha Evander Merchant."He stopped a bit and the stenographer scribbled fast. That was the way of the packs in the three moons wolf country. They always used letters for official purposes."The recent attempt to attack the full moon pack by my delta, Delta Isabella Cullen, has been without my prior consent. It is not hidden from you that her erratic actions has caused us the loss of twenty soldiers, who has served this pack with so much dedication whilethey were alive. You can, as your offender, do what you see fit, but as my and my pack's criminal, she is hereby, banished from this pack. She is to never step foot in this pack and if she does, she can be killed on sight. This is my final judgment, by the power vested on me as Alpha of the split moon, chosen and anointed by the moon goddess to lead my pack to prosperity."He finished, a glint of pride in his
"You are too weak. You need to strengthen your defense."The martial arts instructor said, touching his hands to strengthen his form. Evander groaned in frustration."I'm sorry, Alpha."He looked at him."Let's take a break."Evander said calmly. The other man nodded and exited the plain room, leaving Evander sitting on the floor, his eyes stinging with emotions that ran deeper than the eyes could see, much closer and as associated to a strong, black haired, green eyed delta."Evander."He froze, recognizing the voice to belong to the woman who made his heart strings stretch."Why are you here?"She came in front of him. She was wearing the exact style of clothes she had worn when she had attacked him, except the red cape."You're training?""Leave. This is none of your business."She held his arm."Let me train you. No one can do it
"What happened to him? You tried to kill him again, didn’t you?""Alec""what?”“ She tried before."Isabella didn't answer, she was carrying Evander on her back, taking him to her room."U hmm..Isabella, give him to me. He must be heavy."She shook her head."I can handle it""give him to us. Why are you taking him to your room?""Because i want to."She completed the flight of stairs and entered the room, closing it behind her."You seriously let her carry him? What if something happens?""She will take care of him, Alec. I'm sure you know that.”Alec scoffed."But what do you think happened toEvander? He was bleeding from his head.""He will heal. You know that."Alec sighed."Let's go. I need to take care of the oldie's transport to new moon against the time he will regain consci
