NATASHA'S POV

Patty and I took a walk around the school. We assumed we wouldn't have any more classes.

We laughed, chatted and talked about a lot of things we would like to do.

Patty explained it was luxury away from home. Some elites came here too to escape stifling atmosphere at home.

I scoffed. What could be stifling for an elite? They already had everything.

They got everything they asked for and the things they didn't ask for. And the

NATASHA'S POVThe next morning, I was so shocked to see Layla parked outside the house, waiting for me with a huge smile on her face.“Hey bestie.” She cooed, waving her hand at me as I walked towards her. I resisted the urge to laugh and settled for a scoff instead.I stopped in front of her, a frown crossing my features.“I'm surprised you remember where I live, Layla.” I said dryly. She grinned and pulled me into a hug.“Oh come on, don't be like that. It's only been a few days since we last spoke!” When she pulled away, she gave me an affectionate pat on the head, like I was her little puppy or something.“You're so adorable, honey. We've always been together since we met. That's why you're not used to this situation.” I frowned. Seriously? She rolled her eyes when I said nothing, and put the sunglasses she was holding back on.Sunglasses I hadn't really noticed before. I looked at her again, really looked at her.She looked…different. Her skin was glowing, her hair was up in a

NATASHA'S POVI smiled, and nodded my head as if he could see me. If he was calling me, he meant he cared right?I guess he really is nice. It meant a lot that he thought of calling again to check up on me.“Yeah, I can't. I keep thinking about seeing her empty eyes if I close my eyes for a second.” I said quietly.“I know what you mean.” He said quietly as he paused. “How about we talk? Maybe if we talked long enough, you'll get exhausted enough to fall asleep.” He suggested.I nodded my head, “Yeah, I would like that.” I replied.“Great…oh, and did your parents get mad that you got home so late?” He asked.“My mom mostly, but the anger went away when she saw what a mess I was.” I said.“Did you start crying again?” He teased and I laughed.Of course I cried but I wasn't going to tell him that. He would just call me a crybaby again.Which wasn't fair, who wouldn't shed several bucketfuls of tears if their friend died?Of course, I knew he wasn't trying to be mean, he was just trying

NATASHA'S POVNo, oh God no. This couldn't be…there had to be a reason her pulse was gone.Maybe she just passed out. You can't feel a person's pulse if they fainted right? But why was my heart beating so fast, threatening to jump out of my chest? Why were her eyes wide open like that? Frozen in shock and fear?“Patty…” I called softly, my voice breaking, threatening to fall apart. I pushed gently and that's when I saw it.The blood…the pool of blood on the part where her head laid.I screamed. Another bloodcurdling scream that could have been miles away.“Patty! Patty! NATASHA'S POVThe girls were chattering excitedly amongst themselves while the guys pretended they weren't affected. But I didn't need to hear their conversation to know who that guy was.Peter Melton. Electric, like it had been pulling us towards each other. What I felt for Professor Cain was nothing but an innocent crush but for Peter…it was attraction. Was I stupid to believe he felt it too? That kind of attraction was something two people felt. But that was ridiculous. There was no way Peter Melton was attracted to me.He was so…hot. And some of the girls were right. He looked like a foreigner. His skin…God, he was gorgeous. Those strikingly gorgeous blue eyes, the detail of his face.I supposed he was what they called a Greek god. I imagined if Zeus or Poseidon were a teenage mortal, they
