{Master! Master! Wake up, it’s almost time for work!}

I groaned and dragged a pillow over my face. Who the hell was yelling at this hour? Mrs. Parker moved out last week. Nobody should be banging on walls yet.

{Master? Seriously? That’s what we’re going with?}

My mattress felt wrong. Too soft. Like I’d fallen into a giant scented marshmallow. My old bed only ever smelled like regret and instant-noodle seasoning.

Since when did I own silk sheets?

{Master! You’re finally awake!}

I cracked one eye open.

Pink walls. Crystal chandelier. Glitter on the ceiling. Actual glitter.

I shot upright. The sheets twisted around my legs like clingy exes. “Either I’m dreaming or someone kidnapped me and gave me a glow-up.”

I pinched my thigh. Hard.

“Ow. Okay, not dreaming.”

{If you’d stop cutting me off for five seconds—}

The voice was inside my head. Inside my actual head.

Great. Haunted.

I scanned the room. No creepy kids, no floating ladies. Just money and vanilla candles. “Hello? Casper? You taking interior design requests now?”

{If you’d just let me finish!}

“Are you… crying?” The ghost sounded one second from a meltdown.

{I am NOT crying. I am a highly advanced artificial intelligence, thank you.}

A glowing blue orb the size of a tennis ball popped into existence and hovered there, judging me.

I blinked. “You’re a ball.”

{A highly advanced round-shaped artificial intelligence.}

“Did you just roll your eyes?”

{…No.}

“You did. That’s adorable.” I reached out.

{DON’T touch me. Personal space.}

I grinned and pulled my hand back. “Touchy for a floating disco ball.”

The orb flashed brighter. {As I’ve been trying to tell you—you died.}

Silence.

Then I squeaked, “Excuse me?”

{You died. While eating ramen and croissants together. The coroner is still confused.}

My hands flew to my mouth. “I died from a croissant-ramen combo? That’s the most embarrassing death in history.”

{Congratulations. I grabbed your soul before it floated off to food-crime purgatory and dropped you here.}

“Here being…?”

{The movie you watched last night. The one with the hot psychotic wolf king.}

I squinted. “The Psychiatrist and the Psychopath? The indie one with the terrible CGI wolves?”

{Exactly.}

I looked at my hands. Pale, delicate, manicured. Not mine. “Wait. Am I the psychopath?”

{No, you idiot. You’re Elena. The psychiatrist. And, thanks to a tiny system glitch, you’re also the fated mate of King Kael. The psychopath wolf.}

The orb bobbed like it felt bad.

I stared. “You accidentally made me the love interest?”

{Mistakes happen when you’re soul-snatching on a Tuesday night.}

I flopped back into the pillows. “So I’m dead, stuck in a trashy werewolf movie, engaged to a murderer, and my only friend is a snarky blue orb.”

{Affirmative.}

“Cool. Cool cool cool. What’s the mission? There’s always a mission.”

{Save the villain—King Kael—from his tragic ending. Redeem him, survive, etc. Succeed and you go home rich and orb-free.}

“And if I fail?”

{You die permanently. And I’m bonded to your soul forever. We’re both motivated.}

I sat up. “You’d be stuck with me for eternity?”

{Don’t sound so thrilled.}

“Listen here, Glowstick,” I said, pointing at the orb. “I once worked mall security for three hours and saved a kid from a claw machine. Saving one murderous werewolf is nothing.”

I scrambled out of bed, tripped over the duvet, swore under my breath, and finally reached the mirror.

Long wine-red wavy hair, violet eyes, cheekbones sharp enough to slice bread. Elena was unfairly gorgeous.

I spun around. “You couldn’t give me normal hair?”

{Be grateful I didn’t leave you bald.}

Three sharp knocks rattled the door.

We both froze.

A cheerful voice sang from the hallway. “Lady Elena? Duchess Voss requests your presence for breakfast."

The orb dimmed. {You have to have breakfast with your mother and sister first. Stay in character. Do NOT deviate.}

I swallowed. “Remind me what my character is again?”

{Didn’t you actually watch the movie?}

“I was eating most of the time, sue me. I’m only human.” I paused. “Well. Was.”

{The most hated female psychiatrist in the kingdom. You despise everyone, especially your cold, emotionless little sister. Everyone except your mate must hate you.}

I exhaled. “So don’t smile, don’t talk, just eat and leave. Got it.”

I straightened my spine, wiped every trace of warmth off my face, practiced my expressionless face in the mirror one more time and muttered to the orb, “Showtime.”

"I'm ready. Mother and Sister has no idea what's coming for them."

    {It’s morning.} “Huh? No—no! That is literally not what I asked!” I’m already out of bed, barefoot, pacing like a caged raccoon. My hair’s doing its own thing, half in my mouth, half sticking to my cheek with last-night tears. {I know what you asked. I can’t answer it yet. You have to figure some things out on your own.} “Figure it—Roundy, this isn’t a scavenger hunt, this is my wolf!” I spin around so fast I almost trip over my own nightgown. “Elena locked Bree in blood circles like some budget horror movie! Why?!” {Verm. My name is Verm.} I stop dead. “Did you just—did you just change the subject with your own name reveal? Are you kidding me right now?” Silence. The orb just floats there, pulsing like it’s nervous. I drag both hands down my face. “Okay. Fine. Verm. Weird name, zero stars, do not recommend. Whatever.” I start pacing again, talking to myself because apparently that’s my brand now. “Elena locked Bree away… and the king almost strangled me—well, her—whatever

    KAELI’d sworn to myself I wouldn’t see her today.Told myself to stay away, let the bruises heal, let her forget the feeling of my hands around her throat.I even sat on the throne like a proper king, already healed hand resting on the armrest, acting like I had everything under control.Then her scent slipped under the door.Warm vanilla. Fresh bread. A hint of something sweet and nervous that punched me straight in the gut.My whole body went tight.Instant.Hard.Painfully hard.I shifted in the seat, jaw clenched, trying to breathe through it.Scared she’d smell it on me.Hopeful she wouldn’t run the second she walked in.Peter was still half-conscious in the corner, breathing shallow. He didn’t need to see this.The attendant stepped in, bowed. “Lady Elena is ready, Your Majesty.”I couldn’t stand up. Not like this.I waved him off with a growl that came out rougher than I meant and stalked to the side chamber, slamming the door behind me.Cold water on. Didn’t help.I braced on

  • Became His Mate By Accident    His Highness Is Crazy

    I paced the room so hard I was basically wearing a groove in the marble. “So the real Elena died last night. Strangled. By her own mate. And now I’m supposed to save this walking red flag?” Bree’s voice floated up, soft and confused. (What do you mean the real Elena? You’re you. I feel it in our soul. And our mate isn’t a killer—he saved us.) “Bree, sweetie, you wouldn’t get it.” I spun toward the empty air where Roundy usually hovered. “Roundy! Answer me!” The blue orb flickered into existence, already looking exhausted. {Yes, original Elena is very dead. And yes, I almost forgot, you have a royal therapy session in exactly one hour.} I stopped dead. “One hour? And you're just telling me now?Can I opt out? Like, fake a stomach ache? Explosive diarrhea? Anything?” {Sure. Opt out and die. Your choice.} I flopped face-first onto the bed and wailed into the pillow. “Is this my life now??” Reddit. I needed Reddit. I rolled over, grabbed the phone, thumbs flying.

  • Became His Mate By Accident    Kael

    Breakfast did not go as planned. I slammed my bedroom door behind me, leaned against it, and slid all the way to the floor like a melted popsicle. “Roundy. Be honest with me right now. Are you one hundred percent sure the only glitch was making me Kael’s mate? Because I’m starting to think you accidentally made my new found family the actual psychopaths." I started pacing. Bare feet on cold marble. Syrup still sticky between my fingers. “Did you see Mrs Voss, I mean, Mother? She was crying happy tears because I committed pancake genocide. That’s not normal.” {…} Silence. Then a new voice, soft, sleepy, and definitely not Roundy’s. (Elena? Finally… it’s been years.) I froze mid-step. “Roundy. Glowstick. Buddy. Tell me you can change voices, because that was impressive.” I gave the air two sarcastic thumbs-up. (Who’s Glowstick? It’s me, Bree. Your wolf.) My knees decided that was the perfect moment to stop working. I sat down hard on the rug. “What. What. How.

  • Became His Mate By Accident    Reddit is Life

    “Wait. Where’s my phone?” {On the vanity table. Password is 69420.} I raised an eyebrow at the floating blue orb. “Your artificial intelligence is not blowing me away right now.” {Why do you say that?} “You kidnapped my soul, dropped me in a wolf movie, and forgot to give me the user manual. I’m staring at you with the power of a thousand disappointed mothers.” {There was a minor error, okay? Complete tasks and you’ll unlock Elena’s memories bit by bit. Happy?} “Hold up. Tasks? Plural? I thought I only had one job: fix the hot psychopath.” {You have one main mission. The tasks are… side quests. Experience points. Whatever you kids call it these days.} I was already grabbing the phone. A gorgeous rose-gold thing that probably cost more than my old life. I opened the app store and started typing. {Is that… a Reddit account you’re making?} “Yup.” {Why.} “Because I have questions, Roundy. Questions that only the hive mind of bored insomniacs can answer.” {I am literally a sup
