LOGINThey all stared at Mr. Harper like he had gone nuts.
"Darling husband, I don't understand why you would ask me to work for him when he clearly doesn't like me?" Jules muttered, casting a curious glance at Mr.Harper.
"Yes dad, why would I work with this money monger? besides you have your own company, she should work for you instead," Hero muttered, gritting his teeth. he couldn't imagine himself working beside her, having to see her face every day. yikes! he thought, wrinkling his face in displeasure.
A mischievous smile crossed Mr.Harper's lips and he said inwardly, "it's because I want you two to become closer."
Clearing his throat, Mr. Harper said, "I don't want her to work for me because, she's my wife and people might say I'm giving her special treatment, even when I'm not. That's why I suggest, she works for you instead."
Hero scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Dad, I don't want to work with someone like her, I just can't."
Jules also rolled her eyes, then she said, "it's not like I want to work for you either."
Hero gave her a hateful glare. "Money monger," he mumbled under his breath, but Jules could read his lips.
A scowl appeared on her face as she also mumbled, "Stupid lord grumpy," under her breath.
Mr. Harper glanced from Hero to Jules and sighed. "Hero, I'm asking you as your father, to please, do this little thing for me, please," he let out in a pitiful tone.
Hero and the others were taken aback. they had never seen their father so vulnerable, to the extent of pleading with someone.
Harley stood up from where she sat beside Jules and went to meet Hero.
"Lord grumpy, dad is asking you nicely, and my teacher says, if one asks nicely, you shouldn't be selfish and just do what they want," she muttered. Harley could tell that her father was up to something by trying to get Hero and Jules to work together.
"I pray he agrees, I can't wait for the next scene in the adventure of Lord grumpy and the beautiful stepmom," Harley pondered, a mischievous smile playing at the corner of her lips.
Harris caught glimpse of the mischievous smile on his sister's lips and knew she was up to something. "I wonder what chubby is up to by supporting dad," he pondered, deciding to play along. He also couldn't wait to see the drama that will unfold once Hero and Jules started working together.
"Hero, I don't see anything wrong in letting Mrs.Scott work with you, besides she's our step mom," Harris chipped in.
Hero let out a peal of unamused laughter, giving his little brother and sister a suspicious look. He couldn't wrap his head around why they wanted him to work with Jules. He turned to Hardin who has been quiet. "Do you also think I should let the hee, work for me?" he asked him.
Hardin scoffed, before saying, "you know I will never support such a thing. I don't think it's a good idea to let her work for you. Besides who do you think put dad up to it? she must have convinced dad do this because she has a bad motive."
Jules shot both of them a glare. "Look here Lord grumpy and blabbermouth, I didn't ask your dad to do anything, it was all his idea. I don't care if you believe it, or not," she let out.
"Your mother is not lying, she didn't ask me to do anything. I'm asking you of my own according," Mr.Harper defended, praying that Hero would grant his request.
Harris and Harley also prayed for the same thing, as they fixed their eyes on Hero's lips anticipating what he would say next.
Hero thought about it for a while. "If I agree to it, I have to see her annoying face every time, but on a second thought, this could be the perfect opportunity for me to teach her a good lesson." he smiled after thinking of this, then he said, "Dad, I agree to let her work for me."
What! they all yelled in surprise.
"Say that again," Hardin muttered, not believing his ears.
Hero rolled his eyes. "I SAID, I AGREE, TO LET HER, WORK FOR ME," he pointed out.
Mr. Harper's face was filled with surprise before it turned into a bright smile. "Yes yes yes, he agreed. this calls for a celebration, he said inwardly.
Harris and Harley also smiled.
"Yeiii, he agreed to it. Lord grumpy and mommy working in the same place, perfect," Harley squealed.
While Harris laughed at Harley's comment. he could already envision the drama that was going to unfold at the Hi-tech company(Hero's company). "I wish I could install camera's in his office," he pondered.
On the other hand, Hardin and Jules were gobsmacked.
"Brother, I can't believe you are letting her work for you, what has come over you?" Hardin let out.
"Yes, for the first time, I agree with Hardin. what has come over you?" Jules chipped in.
"Nothing has come over me, I'm just doing this because of dad, that's all," Hero answered, standing up to leave. He wanted to get away, to avoid answering any more questions.
"By the way Jules Verne, work starts by 8:am sharp, you will be my second P.A," Hero tells Jules, before leaving.
Jules and Mr.Harper could tell that there was more than he was letting on, but they could not pinpoint what it was.
"I have to find a way to talk Mr.Harper out of this, there is no way I want to work for the devil," Jules thought, casting a glance at Mr. Harper.
"Can I talk to you in private?" Jules muttered.
"Sure," Mr. Harper answered. Although he already knew what Jules wanted to talk about.
...
"Mr.Harper, please can you reconsider? you know Hero doesn't like me, how do you expect us to work together?"Jules reasoned.
"I know that Miss Verne. That is the reason I want you to work for him. If you're close to him, the easier it becomes to change him. I assure you, Hero will come to adore you once he sees the good in you," Mr.Harper, muttered. "But if you can't do it, It's fine, I won't force you," he added, turning around to leave.
"Please call me back, call me back please," Mr.Harper pleaded inwardly.
Jules thought about what he had said, but she still had doubts and fear. "That grumpy man must have something off his sleeve," she thought but decided to agree anyways. If he thinks he's tough, I'll show him I'm tougher.
Seeing the dangerous glint in the strange man's eyes, Jules's heart began to race. She refused the man again and immediately turn on her heel and began to run. The man chased after her, honking and laughing at her. "Come on pretty lady, why are you running away, I mean no harm I just want us to have some fun." Jules ran faster, adrenaline coursing through her veins as she felt him closing in on her again and again. A scream of fright tore through her lips as she tripped over a her own foot falling to the ground before she could catch herself. The man laughed at her, circling around her with his car on high speed."Help," Jules's cry came out as a whisper followed by a painful groan as she tried to pull herself up and pain shot through her sprained ankle. She should have just waited like the security guard told her or better still remained on Hero's porch. If she'd done that he certainly wasn't going to let her stay outside his house all night. He wasn't that heartless or perhaps he
The weather was already turning gloomy when she reached westernhill. One of the Scotts chauffeur had driven her there. Jules's mind raced as they came to a stop in front of a huge mansion, thought it wasn't as big as the Scotts mansion the exterior design was just as grand and exquisite. "Madam, we've arrived at Master Hero's house," the chauffeur announced as he drove through the driveway. Jules heaved a sigh to calm herself, placing a hand over her pounding heart. 'You're just going there to give him food nothing more,' she continuously reminded herself however when the car came to a halt in front of the mansion, she was tempted to tell the chauffeur to turn the car around. However Emelia had insisted and even begged her so she had no choice but to agree. Hero was a grown man who could take care of himself why was the old madam stressing over his eating habit. Furthermore, if he'd just remained in the mansion Emelia wouldnt've to worry. Perhaps he left because of
Jules eyes widened in shock, a gasp escaping her lips. How did he find out? Was it Hero who told him after telling her to keep it a secret? But then he seemed very serious about keeping that secret until he had some kind of evidence to atleast justify their action. Then who else knew about what happened? "How did you know something happen between us? Who told you?" Jules blurted out, her expression morphing into curiosity. Mr.Harper chuckled then he replied. "So something did happen between both of you. I had my suspicion since both of you were acting suspicious but I wasn't sure until you confirmed it," triumph filled his gaze for a brief moment then disappeared like it was never there. "Sh*t... Jules cursed under her breath giving her fake husband an awkward smile. She couldn't deny it now even if she wanted to. "I know you brought me here for another reason and sincerely I didn't mean for something like that to happen. We just got drunk at the party and... and we... W
Hero paused for a second, snatching the file as he turned toward him. He proceeded to open it but paused when he saw Bryan peering at the file with interest. "You can go," Hero dismissed him, walking toward his seat. It wasn't until Bryan's left that Hero opened the file. There were several photos of him and Jules at the party. Including photo of them entering into the same room. The more he looked at the photos the more his scowl deepened. It could ruin their family reputation if people found out that Jules's was his stepmother. However he was more concerned about his relationship with his father. Heaving a sigh, Hero tapped his fingers lightly on his desk as he dialed a number."Mr.scott," a voice came from the other side of the phone. "I want you to track the waiter who served mine as well as Jules Verne's drink at the party report directly to me once you find it," he sets the phone aside once he was done talking heaving another sigh. He couldn't bring himself to work no matter
Even though she didn't want to talk about it, she figured that she wouldn't be able to run away from the fact that something'd happened between them. Stopping on his track, Hero whirled in Jules's direction. "We won't talk about anything_ It was a mistake that wasn't supposed to happen and I regretted it," his gaze darkened as he retorted in a stern tone then he turned around and walked away hastily. Jules watched his retreating figure, feeling extremely hurt. He was not wrong to feel that way especially as he thought she was married to his father. Perhaps if she told him the truth... Jules quickly shrugged the thought. She'd made a deal with Mr Harper she couldn't break that deal even though she was feeling a certain type of way toward his son. Heaving a sigh, Jules returned her mom's ward. 'If he didn't come to talk about the matter, why did he come in first place?' She said to her, still feeling hurt. Glancing in Jules's direction, Julia smiled but it was immediate
"Father, I have something important to discuss with you_ it's about Jules and me," Hero announced, however, he was cut off by his grandmother, as she walked into the room."Hero, you are back? But where is Jules?" She asked, giving him a curious look."Is she not back?" He retorted, knitting his brow in question. 'But I asked Benson to send her to the airport.'Hero's attention was now diverted to something else, forgetting about what he wanted to discuss with his father. However, Mr.Harper's thoughts were filled with what his son wanted to discuss. 'Could it be about what happened in N-city? Did something really happen between miss Verne and him like the paparazzi suggested?'Many thoughts ran through Mr.Harper's mind, and he completely zoned out from his mother and son's discussion. Instead, his lips subconsciously curved into a smirk.Hero, on the other hand, took his phone to put a cut across to the chauffeur. Whilst Emelia stares at him in disbelief. "Don't tell me you don't know
