Solace

Ashlyn hated having meals with other werewolves in a shared space. She found solace in being alone. That was weird, considering how werewolves were social creatures.

Other than the mated couples who enjoyed having time to themselves, usually grown up werewolves dined in each other’s company in the pack house. Ashlyn stayed away from them.

But being dirt poor meant she wasn’t able to afford her own food. Due to this, she found herself stuck in a congested room, barely able to get the food down her throat due to various smells floating in the air.

Her heightened sense due to Alpha blood made it torturous for her. The one beside her smelled like a pumpkin— a vegetable she couldn’t stand.

Incessant chattering went around the table. Some shared their stories, and the others listened. Usually, they would be too tense in Ashlyn’s presence to talk, but the Alpha’s presence brought them in ease.

Unlike her, her brother took the noise as the pack being merry and joyous, enjoying the fun events
