Freddy's Pov

Silence hung over us for moments after she said that name. I know it was only a matter of time before Sundae told Lilyanna about our past.

She wore it like a shield, that girl.

Lilyanna’s blue eyes were trained on me, waiting, expecting an answer.

“She told you about it?” I asked, chewing on my food.

“The real question is, why didn't you tell me?” She said

“Lilyanna, answer me.”

She looked away, staring at nothing in particular, “Well, she didn't exactly tell me. She left her phone out for me to see.”

I rubbed my temples. Sounds exactly like something Sundae would do.

“Lilyanna, what you saw on Sundae’s phone - it's not what you think.”

Lilyanna stared back at me, waiting. I ran a hand through my hair, searching for the right words to say.

“That photo… It’s old. Years old. Sundae and I - we had a brief thing, long before you. It was a mistake, the most toxic thing I’ve ever been in.” I paused as bitter memories flashed in my mind - Sunday trying to jump off a cruise bec
