Freddy's Pov

The late afternoon sun cast rays into my office at the Montgomery Grand, but the air was not light.

I stood behind my desk, fist clenched, towering over my operations manager, Elisha Gunau, who looked like he would rather be anywhere else.

“You forgot to double-check the financials for the European merger pitch?” I said in a low, dangerous voice.

One thing I took seriously was excellence, and he had just disappointed me in that aspect.

Elisha looked down, red-faced, a vein bulging in his neck.

“Elisha,” I continued, “Do you have even the slightest idea what that cost us? The investors were breathing down my neck because your numbers were off by two percent! Two percent, Elisha! That’s enough to tank a deal this size!”

I was fuming. On a very good day, I would have let this go with a strict warning and probably no salary for the month, but I was not in the mood to be merciful.

Elisha stammered, twisting his hands together, “I'm so sorry, sir. It was an oversight. I…”

William's POVI studied the young man as he spoke. The room has grown tense in an instant, waiting for the truth to come to light.Landon's words piqued my interest. His smug expression was not just arrogance. No. It was not often that a mid-level employee like Landon dared to speak out like this.He knew something. At least, something that he thought was important to us.He believed it was worth the risk. The room felt heavy now. Freddy stood at the side, glaring at Landon. Kent's expression was unreadable. Sera, on her part, had paused mid-scroll on her phone.“Go on then,” I said with an edge that made Freddy glance at me sideways. But Landon shook his head. His eyes darted to Freddy.“I would like to speak to you in private, Sir.”Freddy stiffened, “Whatever you have to say, Landon, say it here to our hearing. Don't play games.”Landon said nothing. His eyes darted between me and Freddy as if weighing his options, then he shook his head again.“Enough,” I said, my voice cutting

Kaelia's POV We were greeted by low murmurs as we stepped into the grand hall. The Montgomery Grand’s new wing was exquisite, imposing, just like Freddy. His hand rested possessively on the small of my back as we walked in.The moment we crossed the threshold, a man in a navy suit approached Freddy with an outstretched hand and a too-bright smile.“Montgomery,” He said warmly, “We’ve been waiting for you all evening. May I have a word?”Freddy leaned closer to me, then murmured, “Excuse me. I'll only be a moment,”I nodded and flashed him a small smile as he left, unease forming a knot in my stomach.I felt exposed without him beside me.I felt the weight of eyes on me, assessing me as if waiting to pounce. The whispers, the stares – they were unsettling.I needed something to steady me. So I walked across the room to the bar.The bar was dimly lit, lined with rows of glittering bottles.I slid into a stool, exhaling quietly as I ordered a glass of wine. The first sip calmed my ne

Kaelia's POV The morning sun was out by the time I woke up the next morning. I blinked against the light, a bit disoriented, but the pain in my ankle brought me to reality immediately.Freddy.The way he had carried me in last night. The feeling of his lips against my forehead, him paying no attention to Sundae, was a reassurance to me, no doubt. My fingers went to the spot he had kissed. I was not supposed to feel this way.No. Not about him. Everything between us was built on lies. But even as I tried to deny it, it was getting clearer each day. A faint sound drew my attention. My head snapped towards the direction, and that's when I saw her.Sundae.She was sitting at my dresser, poised, like she had been there all night. Her presence, the way she sat, the way she stared at me was unsettling in a way I couldn't put into words. She sat still, her chin resting slightly on her hand. Her eyes were unreadable as they bore into me.“Your bath water is ready,” She said after a moment.

Kaelia's POV When Freddy asked about the lie, I thought he had found out everything. My heart stopped, and my mind raced with images of him knowing that I was not Lilyanna Russo but only a nobody playing a part in his billionaire world. For a moment, I almost told him the whole truth. I'm grateful I didn't do that.“Freddy, I lied about Plume because… my real job’s nothing fancy. I thought you’d think less of me.”“Why would I think less of you because of your job?”I faced him, my voice barely steady, “It's unbecoming of a billionaire's wife.”He took a deep breath, his eyes softening, “Lily, I don't care about that. It's people out there that make those rules, and they do not apply to me.”He reached out and held my cold hands. His grip was firm but gentle. “Tell me what it is you do, Lily. I don't want the lies anymore.”I swallowed hard, “Okay, please promise me you wouldn't judge,”“I promise,”I nodded then cleared my throat, “The truth is, I'm…I'm a tattoo artist.”A minute

Freddy's Pov I watched the colour drain from Lilyanna's face. Her eyes widened, and the flowers trembled in her hand.“What…what do you…what do you mean?” She stuttered, her eyes darting away, avoiding mine.I raised a hand to silence her, “Don't. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about right now.”Hannah's text burned in my mind.I think you gave me the wrong address. There's no Plume International Agency around here.I didn't want to believe that Lilyanna would lie to me, but now, her pale face and shaking voice told me she was hiding something big, and it hurt more than I expected.I leaned forward, trying to keep my anger in check. I hated lies. Hate was too soft a word. Lies had cost me too much – trust, deals, years of my life tangled in Sundae’s games and my father's manipulations.“You’ve been pushing this whole ‘be truthful’ narrative from the start, calling me out, demanding honesty. So why are you lying to me? What are you hiding?”Her breath hitched, and she

  • Being Mr CEO's Bride   Chapter 29

Kaelia's POV Since I saw that shadow two days ago, I couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched. All day at work, my skin prickled like I was being watched from every corner.I glanced over my shoulder several times, expecting to see someone following me, but each time I turned, I only saw people who were too interested in getting about their day to be watching me.A coworker rushing to a meeting, another scrolling on their phone, oblivious to my racing heart. Still, the unease clung to me, like a shadow I couldn’t outrun, making every footstep behind me feel like a threat.I felt an overwhelming sense of relief when my shift finally ended, and it was time for me to clock out and leave. I grabbed my bag and headed to the staffroom to touch up my face and adjust my clothes before leaving for ‘Plume’.Thankfully, the room was empty when I entered. I was not in the mood to speak with anyone. The constant looking over my shoulder had drained me, and I just needed a chance to breat
