The ferry came around in an hour or so. They docked close to the river shore. A small plank was placed making a ramp for everyone to hop on.
Nicolai showed his metal badge to the guy who was checking and got in. Just after, the badges were collected again.
These were reusable tickets.
He sat in a small corner, not attracting any attention.
When nighttime came around he stood up feeling the cold breeze. they had crossed the river into the open ocean now.
Nicolai nostalgically glanced back.
In the darkness, he saw the humongous trees sway around in the wind. This place was close to green land. The last he had seen, his new home was covered in snow up to his knees.
“I wonder how it changed.. the old lady mentioned a lot of natural disasters. did the world tilt to the side…….”
Just thinking about this topic really reminded him of his dad.
Nico plopped down on the rocking deck with a lo
It was early in the morning of the third day of the passing of the red moon. The pack was finally allowed out of the pack house for the festival. The red moon festival.Dylan walked out of the house, stretching his back. Young kids ran past his legs towards the play area laughing in glee.“They look like they’re having fun. Where are the warriors? Have they started to train yet?” he glanced back. His young beta stood there scratching his black hair with a bored look on his face. He had dark circles under his slanted eyes and he was constantly yawning out loud.Just one year ago this young man had taken over his father’s position surprisingly he was very good at his work. Everything went so smoothly after having him by his side.‘He lived up to his name…’ Dylan thought with a proud look on his face.Nine hundred years ago he had a beta named Killian. he was his right hand, his tr
Feeling the water gush over his face Nicolai woke up. a strong pair of arms were holding onto his torso and this person was wading through the water hurriedly.“Who.. who are you?”“I should be asking you that? Who are you? you? know that was a werewolf territory right? why the hell did you even try to invade that place? our last attack was fruitless.”Nicolai blankly looked at his face. the lower half of his face was covered with a black cloth exposing only his glaring pair of eyes.“Who are you....” he whispered softly.“Me, I’m Raven. You?”“Nico,”The man hurriedly swam in a particular direction. There was a huge moss pile floating on the top. He pulled it away to reveal a small boat.“Get in there,” he helped Nico in and climbed in hurriedly.“Where are you taking me...” Nico tiredly whispered. he did not have the
“Guys this is Nico. He will be staying here with us from now on. Be kind.”Nico glanced up at him.“I’m Matt, and you must already know Raven,” The taller guy pointed to the guy who brought him here.Matt had a buzz cut and looked muscular. He was tall as heck. His hands were slightly stained red. This guy must have hunted just recently.Just as had expected, he saw a huge elk hanging upside down tied to the wooden beam of the roof. Its blood was dripping down little by little onto a small pail.“Nico, those are our twins, Hunter and Issac. We got them from the nearby village being sold off to a rich human. Darius and Nolan next to them were found when they were running away from the hunting wolves. and last but not least our witch Avery, he found us. He is the one who discovered this safe spot,”Nicolai had a hard time memorizing so many names. He peered at the table. The twins both ha
Late at night when everyone was deep in sleep. Nico got up and slowly crawled out of the small hole in the door of the hut house. The iron pail in his hand clattered loudly.“Gosh stop clattering.”Feeling the cold air, he trembled slightly. In a hurry, he forgot to grab his straw coat. Shivering slightly, he walked deep into the woods.Tonight he was on a mission. He was going to catch another elk. He was going to feed the younger vampires to help them develop. This group only ate breakfast! only breakfast that to only a spoon full of blood jelly! How can that be enough! it was not enough even for a baby vampire!‘I’ll rectify that situation..’ he was determined. It was just a day but he could already feel the familial feeling for them. it was similar to what they called the blood Link. Not all vampires have that.... only...Nicolai froze.Only vampire elders have that
The others were still in a stunned state. The younger ones, though, were more than happy to have their share of the blood. They were happily sipping away.Nicolai smirked, watching their pure joy.“e-elder... I don’t think it’s a good idea,” Raven came up to him. “we should not show ourselves too much. We are more than enough to attack the whole arctic wolf pack. With enough explosives, we can take out the alpha king and his comrades. We don’t need any more vampires,”Nico peered at him. “What is the purpose of attacking the alpha king?”“To seek revenge. We have to take him out,” he said as a matter of fact.“good, good. Anything else?”Raven and Matt both glanced at each other and shook their heads.Nicolai sighed. These young vampires did not understand what he was trying to achieve. His goal was not just to destroy the alpha king but
The next day Nico woke up determined. He had a lot of things to do today. First he had to cure the elk meat and had to store it for sale. And for that, he needed a lot of salt and condiments. There are two ways he knew of to cure meat. The first one is to smoke it dry and the second one is to salt it and dry it in the sun. For both these methods, he needed condiments The vampires here did not eat human food so they did not have it. he had to buy them from the human towns. Raven made him a map of all the villages nearby. Turns out they were actually on a small island close by to the river. This was the place where the river met the ocean and it was prone to whirlpools. So not many wanted to come and inhabit this land. Only at a particular time of the day, the water was calm and they can row their boats out. The island was not that bustling with wildlife. Only a few elks lived here. So the vampires usually never ov
Killian ran into the pack. He came across terrifying news that was concerning and it needed to be conveyed to Alpha king immediately.“Alpha! Alpha you won’t believe this,” he shouted running into his room.Dylan was sitting on the chair peering blankly at the closed window. The whole room was dark and stuffy.“Alpha....”“hmm...’ he softly hummed.Killian sighed loudly. ‘he knew his wolf will go berserk whenever he gets close to the broken castle… why does he even try....... shit,’ he opened the door slowly and gestured for one of the wolves to come close. “Bring me calming tea with sleeping pills.”The young wolf nodded and ran off to the kitchen.Killian entered the room, and opened the window letting in fresh air. “is wolfie giving you a hard time? A little sleep and fresh air can help. I’ve ordered the wolves to bring some sle
After two days of rowing Raven and Nico reached the small village he was familiar with. They stopped a few meters away from an abandoned-looking shore.“You have one hour. Go on purchase everything you will need and come meet me here,”Nico just blinked at him. “We are not going to dock?”“No, it’s too noticeable. I’ll be floating far away from here in the ocean that they won’t spot me. In an hour ill get here. So make sure to come back on time okay,”Nico nodded. He jumped down into the water. Thankfully, these wasters did not have crocodiles or anything. He grabbed onto the edge of the boat. “Wait how will I bring the salt in here? it will melt in water,”Raven sighed. “I can move closer when you are coming back Nico.”“Done,” he felt slightly silly for even asking that question. he mentally slapped himself and got to work.Nico s
