Chapter 4 - Suicidal Plan

The admission process went smoother than expected. He submitted his documents and got the class schedule his father has chosen for him. Art, music, advanced algebra,.....

It was very unusual.

It was not the elective he had chosen in his previous school. for his father to choose this schedule, there must have been a very good reason.

Nicolai picked up the sports uniform and walked over to the locker.

He threw all the books in and left for his class. The first elective was English. he was, of course, ten minutes late. He walked through the empty hallway and reached the class.

Nicolai didn’t want to attend classes today but this new class schedule really piqued his interest.

He knocked on the door. The teacher opened it for him.

“Ah you must be the new student, come on come in,” the older balding man with clear specks called him in.

Nicolai walked in glancing at all the students. As she had expected, rue was sitting in the front seat, alone.

As an alpha’s daughter, she must have had many friends and must have been closer with the clan wolves…. But that wasn’t the case. Even in the hallway, he noticed her walking alone. Even in class, she was alone with books spread all over her table.

It was a small gesture that meant that no one was allowed close to her.

‘She’s a loner.. Pops, what have you planned.... gosh.. I’ll just play along for a while. If you involve this innocent girl, I might have to back out in your well-thought-out plan.’

He had a soft spot for loners. Because he was one as well. His special circumstances put him in a very difficult situation.

First of all, he was not a full vampire. His human mother gave birth to him… and he had a beating human heart. He was never accepted in the coven only because of this reason. Some vampires even tried to take a chomp out of him.

Nicolai shuddered just at that thought.

Secondly, werewolves hated vampires. Since he was half vampire he was not able to get close to them either.

Lastly, humans. They were in constant danger even being close to him. even though he could sustain on human food he did need a constant supply of pure human blood to survive. if he failed to feed then he would lose control and bite anyone close by.

‘Yeah…. we are not the same…’ he peered at Rue. she was an alpha’s daughter a pureblood werewolf…..'

They were totally different.

‘So I must not pity her… let’s follow pop’s plan…’

“Introduce yourself,”

“I’m Nicolai, the third.” He curtly said and walked over to the front bench.

Rue removed some of the books from the table, clearing a space for him.

“Thanks,” he sat down and peered at her. ‘Why did she allow me... suspicious indeed. Something is really really suspicious?’

“Class, turn to page 25, we will be doing a character analysis of the main characters here...”

The teacher’s voice dulled in his ears as he cautiously peered at the girl next to him.

Suddenly, she waved her hand at him. “Your eyes might bore a hole on my head. What are you searching for? “

“Answers. I want to know why you let me sit close....”

“I want to know why you sat with me. Young Nicolai, the Halfie. Tell me, did your elders instruct you to get information from me?” she ruefully smirked. “That’s what everyone wants with me. It’s either for information or power....”

Nicolai peered at her. ‘so that’s why…’

Due to the power struggle in her clan, most of the young potential men must have approached her with the intent of marriage. If there was no alpha heir, then inevitably the young female heir will be chosen as the alpha and her mate will also equally become powerful.

“I see.... so you are running from potential mates. That’s sad. But for your information I was not given any special task or so... I was told to befriend people. I was told to be kind and courteous.. Something I’m not that good at,”

Rue chuckled. “Really, I can see why.” She scooted close, pushing the English book in the center. “Tell me young Halfie, do you want to be friends?”

“yes,” he genuinely meant it. This girl was very interesting.

“Really? I thought vampires thought we were under them to even befriend…”

“Unlike other vampires, I’m not prejudiced against wolves. I just don’t like them bothering me and calling me a leech. That’s offensive, you know,”

Rue’s eyes shone slightly as she gave him a dazzling smile. “I see... you are unlike other vampires. You’re cute. If you had approached me with marriage in mind, I would have accepted just so you know,”

Startled he glanced at her. She looked really serious.

“Um... have to break it to you but you are not my beloved.”

“You are not my mate either. But if it’s a political marriage, I will marry you.”

Nicolai was too stunned to speak.

He thought that he could approach this girl with hidden intent but who knew this girl had plans of her own. She was even ready to sacrifice her future mate just so she can uphold the peace.

‘What’s making her so desperate.......why... is it related to the alpha king?.’

Recently, so many problems have been arising in the human world. Some werewolves have been brazenly exposing themselves. The vampire community was working double the time to hide all their blunders.

It was very weird...

It felt like an uprising. Rue’s dad was obviously the head....

‘Then is he... the alpha king!!’

He silently laid his head down hiding his shocked expression. if he was indeed the alpha king then things were very dangerous.

The uprising will start right here in this town and the first vampires to be affected will be his dad and him.

‘Fuck, we have danced into a spider’s nest. We can either stay still or we can jump around and make us the first target. No wonder my pops wanted me to gain some friends.’

‘Shit shit...’

Werewolves are surprisingly loyal creatures. If he became friends with one of them then there is a fifty percent chance that he might be spared from the slaughter.

But that was not the case for his father, who was an ancient elder. They will kill him to showcase their power.

‘fuck it all. We should leave this place as soon as we can!’

As soon as the class ended, he rushed out of the school right over to his house. his legs burned…

He softly panted, holding the double door.

‘Old man, what the fuck have you gotten ourselves into? Why do you want to uphold your beloved wish and put yourself at risk?!’

“Dad!” he shouted running into the hallway.

“huh? You’re back so soon. I thought you will stay for the rest of the day..” hid dad walked out in an apron and with a spatula in hand. “What is it? You... you look pissed.”

“I am fucking pissed. Is this your death plan? You were waiting for me to reach my adulthood to kill yourself! Fuck dad. How many times...how many times have I begged you? You can’t leave me... don’t leave me all alone in this world. I can’t live on. What will do.. When I’m all alone? I don’t know how to survive in this world without you dad.....”’

“whoa… whoa. Where is this coming from?” he gently held his shoulders. “Nico, what’s wrong?”

“You... why do you want to leave me as well? Won’t you stay with me until in thousand? Why did you have to walk into the trap yourself to inevitable become the spider’s prey,”

“Wait a minute. You thought I’m here for suicide? Hey kid, what’s wrong with your head, huh? I wish to live until you’re thousand.” He hugged him tightly.

Somehow his dad’s hands were trembling slightly.

Nico hugged him back.

‘if that was not his plan what is....’

“old man.. Don’t keep me guessing here. Tell me why we are here? tell me why you are making me befriend rue. Is it to arrange a marriage with Rue? If so, I don’t approve of it. I will wait for my beloved..”

“shh...”

His dad closed his yapping mouth with a bright smirk. “we are here to overlook this clan... there have been rumors that the arctic fox clan has the blood of the previous alpha king. After passing through many ears that rumor solidified. The werewolves believe that blindly. That’s what is causing so much commotion in the mainland. I came here to put a stop to it.”
