‎

‎

‎I winced as I opened my eyes, squinting against the blinding sunlight pouring into the room.

‎

‎Damn

‎

‎Why is the sun so bright this morning?

‎

‎

‎Rolling out of bed, I pulled on a pair of sweatpants and a plain T-shirt.

‎

‎I shuffled into the bathroom, brushed my teeth, splashed cold water on my face, then made my way downstairs.

‎

‎

‎"Good morning, dickhead," Amanda greeted from the kitchen, casually stirring her coffee.

‎

‎

‎"Please spare me some," I said, dropping onto the stool at the counter.

‎

‎

‎“Because you said please” she replied with exaggerated sarcasm, handing me a cup.

‎

‎

‎I took a sip and raised a brow. “Didn’t think you’d crash here.”

‎

‎

‎“Yeah, I changed my mind.”

‎

‎

‎We both knew what that meant. She was worried. Amanda always pretended she wasn’t, but I could read her like a book.

‎

‎

‎“So,” i continued, “we never got a chance to talk about the info on the guy.”

‎

‎

‎“Oh yeah"

‎

‎

‎She flashed me a smug grin and wiggled her brows, pulling a flash drive out of her hoodie pocket.

‎

‎

‎“Everything’s on this.”

‎

‎

‎I smirked, shaking my head. “Thank you.”

‎

‎

‎“No need to thank me—I am your PA after all.”

‎

‎

‎“Any meetings today?” I asked, sipping more coffee.

‎

‎

‎She shrugged. “Nope. Just the usual—meeting with your father.”

‎

‎

‎I nodded, and we both fell into a comfortable silence, each lost in our own thoughts. That was until we heard heavy footsteps coming from the stairs.

‎

‎

‎Out of instinct, I reached under the counter and grabbed the gun I kept hidden there. I stayed still, alert.

‎

‎

‎Amanda gave me a deadpan look.

‎

‎“Don’t tell me you forgot about the stranger you brought home,” she said flatly.

‎

‎

‎“Ohhh,” I breathed, lowering the gun.

‎

‎

‎A deep, raspy voice broke the tension. “What the fuck am I doing here?”

‎

‎

‎That voice.

‎

‎It sent an odd chill down my spine. Not fear—something… else.

‎

‎I whispered under my breath, “What was that?”

‎

‎

‎Turning around, I saw him—the guy from the club.

‎

‎He was standing at the foot of the stairs in nothing but joggers. No shirt.

‎

‎My eyes couldn’t help but roam over his chest, his sculpted torso, the curve of his jaw, and those sharp cheekbones. His skin was smooth and sun-kissed, like he belonged in some exotic perfume ad.

‎

‎Still wearing his sunglasses.

‎

‎

‎He looked… hot.

‎

‎My breath caught in my throat.

‎

‎

‎Wait-what?

‎

‎When did I start thinking someone was hot?

‎

‎

‎“Erm…” Amanda broke the silence, sensing the tension. “I think I’m gonna go  settle this yourselves.”

‎

‎

‎She was gone before I could stop her.

‎

‎

‎Now it was just me and the stranger.

‎

‎

‎He stepped forward. “So, are you gonna answer me or not?” His voice was lower now, rougher—more dangerous.

‎

‎

‎I ignored his question, narrowing my eyes. “Don’t tell me you slept with those sunglasses on.”

‎

‎

‎He didn’t flinch. “When I ask questions, I want answers,” he said, walking closer.

‎

‎

‎I stretched out a hand to stop him. “And why’s that?” I asked, arms crossed now, trying to keep control.

‎

‎

‎He smirked, stopping just inches away.

‎

‎

‎Then slowly—almost dramatically—he took off the sunglasses.

‎

‎

‎My heart skipped a beat.

‎

‎

‎His eyes.

‎

‎

‎Two different colors—one a piercing sky blue, and the other a forest green

‎

‎They weren’t just beautiful.

‎

‎They were intense

‎

‎They burned through me, like they could see everything I was trying to hide.

‎

‎

‎My confidence wavered.

‎

‎

‎I shuddered under his gaze, suddenly wishing I’d listened to Amanda.

  • Beneath His Gaze    Chapter 39: The Jealousy Game

Oliver's POV Is it break time already? I felt like taking a stroll around the school. I mean, I've been here for almost a month now, and I haven't even explored a quarter of this place. This would be the perfect opportunity since I don't have another class after this period, meaning I have plenty of time. I went from the announcement hall to the conference room, then to the sports arena, swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball court, basketball court, football field, and hockey arena. They really do have a lot of sporting facilities. No wonder this school is so expensive. After that, I headed towards the backyard, and I was absolutely awed by what I saw. It was literally a garden, complete with chairs, beautiful flowers, and well-maintained trees. The colours were perfectly aligned, and there was even a fountain. Isn't that amazing? Well, it is to me. I took a walk towards the farthest side, still admiring the beauty of the place, when I spotted two students. Perhaps they wer

  • Beneath His Gaze    Chapter 38: Mine To Lose

Luca's POV I'm currently on my way home. I had to drive a little slower because my right hand was injured, so I was making use of my left hand. Antonio really had the guts to aim a fucking bullet at me. He just requested a war that he's not going to fucking win. I'll show him that I'm even more merciless than my father. His death is going to be really painful. He just signed a deal with the devil. This was something we were supposed to settle amicably, but he started playing mind games with us like we were fucking kids. And now he has shot me? All I know is that he's a walking dead man. When I got home, I parked my car rather carelessly before getting down. I made sure it was properly locked before heading inside. Immediately after I opened the door, I was met with everyone, including my younger brother. "Why are you guys still awake at this time?" I asked, closing the door behind me. "Oh my God, my baby!" My Papa rushed towards me, hugging me tightly as if I would turn into t

  • Beneath His Gaze    Chapter 37: An Unexpected Visitor

Oliver's POVIt's been a week since that incident, and Luca hasn't spoken to me or even glanced in my direction. Even when I deliberately ask him questions in class, he won't look at me. He simply glances at the board and answers robotically. No raspy voice, just a bland response. The other day, I told him to wait after class, but he didn't.I know this was what I wanted, but I can't bear him ignoring me as though I don't exist. It's driving me insane."Mr Oliver, you asked for me?"Jeez, I didn't even hear him come in."Yeah.""Is there a problem? Did I fail my maths test?""No, Damien. Um..."Fuck. How the hell am I going to ask this without sounding weird?"Oh, thank goodness. Then what's it?" he asked.I cleared my throat before answering. "Is Luca okay? You know, he's been acting really quiet lately, and I've noticed you two are always together, so I thought I'd ask you.""Oh, don't worry. Luca is perfectly fine. That's just his personality. He's always quiet. The longest I've ev

  • Beneath His Gaze    Chapter 36: Testing My Patience

Luca's POV A certain curly head has been on my mind so much that I can't even think straight. He's driving me insane. Stubborn and loud-mouthed, not my type at all. I mean, he's pretty, but his mouth? Tsk, tsk, tsk. He and Damien would make a great match. Not me. "I hate waking you up ev..." Sofiya said, bursting into my room, but stopped mid-sentence when she saw I was already up. "You're up... already?" she asked, confused. "Hmm." "This is a surprise. The Luca I know doesn't like school." I didn't reply. I just rolled my eyes. "Lock my door if you're done," I said to Sofiya, leaving the room. "Come on, Luca. Did someone steal your skin or what?" she asked, following me downstairs. "Good morning, Dad and Papa. How was your night?" I greeted my parents, who looked at me as if I had grown two heads. "Are you sure we're still alive?" Dad asked dramatically, touching Papa's arm. I just sighed and sat at the dining table, serving myself some food. "Is there any problem, Luca

  • Beneath His Gaze    Chapter 35: A Fucking Teenager

Oliver's POVI can't believe I was manhandled by a fucking teenager, and that fucking teenager happened to be the person whose dick was down my throat a month ago. What kind of drama is this?Fuck, the way my name rolled off his tongue so heavenly, like it was made for that sole purpose. I could feel shivers every time I thought about it. I needed to stop thinking about it.I picked up the ointment and applied it to my wrist. I was currently at home. I couldn't even wait until closing time before running out of there.I needed to call Bianca before I lost my goddamn mind. After the third ring, she picked up."Hey, Oli, the Paris prince," she sang, and I just rolled my eyes. "Oi, why do you look scared?" she added with a frown."I met someone.""Who?""You won't believe it.""Okay, this is getting serious. Try me." She chuckled, sitting up properly."Remember that guy I met at the club in Los Angeles?""You've met many guys there," she said with a frown."The time those gangsters were

  • Beneath His Gaze    Chapter 34: A Dangerous Reunion

Luca's POV I woke up to the sound of someone tapping and calling my name. I forced my eyes open slightly, only to find my sister standing beside my bed. Fuck, how did I even get home? "Wake up, Luca! You've got school!" she exclaimed. "I'm not going today," I rasped, nuzzling my head into the comfort of my pillow. "Papa, your son has refused to get up!" "You have a free pass. Use any means to wake him up, Sofiya!" my papa's voice shouted back. I heard retreating footsteps before they returned a moment later. Just as I was about to open my eyes, a bowl of cold water came splashing right into my face. "What the fuck, Sofiya?!" "What? Papa gave me permission." She shrugged, completely unbothered. "If you weren't my twin sister, I would have put a bullet through your fucking head." "Oh, I'm scared! Don't kill me, please..." She paused dramatically before rolling her eyes. "Nonsense! Get your little ass off that bed!" she said, walking out of my room. I loved my si
