CHAPTER SEVEN: WHAT A SURPRISE

Kennedie

I needed to screw my head on straight and get whatever happened last night out of my head.

But how the fuck do I even do that?

Anytime I closed my eyes, all I heard was his…. What the fuck was I even thinking going there?

My cheeks were flaming. I wanted nothing more than for the ground to just swallow me at this point.

“Good morning, Kennedie.”

I almost choked on my hot chocolate drink…. Holy fucking bees on a stick, was this man just trying to tempt me because tell me why he was standing here in front of me, shirtless with those damn grey sweatpants?

My eyes ran down his body, and goddamn, I had never seen what Adonis looked like. I mean, come on, it was not fair that a man had to look this good.

His chest was chiseled, a rock-hard six-pack and a very strong vline, and that delicious trail of hair that led down to his…

Desmond cleared his throat. “You see something you like, little menace? You can take a picture if you really want to,” he said.

I looked away quickly… was it hot in here on something?

“Shut the fuck up,” I muttered and turned away.

He had the audacity to shrug, “Well, I guess it is your loss then.”

Smug son of a bitch.

Desmond walked straight to the coffee machine and made himself a coffee, and guess what, it was all black coffee, no milk, no sugar…. It was absolutely disgusting.

“You know that only psychopaths drink their coffee like that, don’t you?” I said, and he arched his brows at me, “and you are drinking hot chocolate like you don’t care for diabetes. How even old are you, drinking chocolate like a fucking kid?”

I rolled my eyes, “asshole.”

He turned to me, “What did you say?”

“Nothing”

He shook his head, “You are going to get yourself into some big trouble real soon, little menace,” he said

Why did that sound so much like a promise, and why, just why was I not complaining?

“Desmond, I want to make use of your butler if that is okay with you,” I said.

He gave me a shocked look. “Butler? That is what you choose to call Graham?” he said.

I shrugged, “Well, I don’t know what else to call him. He gives the kind of vibe like those butlers in soap operas, but then again, I can see how that is coming off as offensive… You know what, never mind.”

This was so embarrassing.

How did I manage to ramble off and make an absolute fool of myself in front of him, again, for like the millionth time?

He smiled, “Well, if you put it like that, I guess Graham is kind of like an, everything man.”

“So can I make use of him?” I asked.

He folded his arms, making those delicious muscles of his bulge and flex with each movement that he made.

Desmond snapped his finger in front of my face, “Hey, you’re drooling.”

I was brought back into reality, “What were you saying?” I asked.

“I asked whether you are going to tell me what it is about?” he asked.

I was silent for a while, considering whether I was ready to trust Desmond with my private business yet, and the only rational answer was, fuck no!

I folded my arms. “I don’t know, Desmond, I mean, you were the same person who talked about curiosity killing the cat.”

“Your mouth, this girl,” he said.

He moved to leave the kitchen. “I have work, but you can use my butler to do whatever you want…. Just stay out of trouble for crying out loud,” he said.

I scoffed, offended, “When have I ever entered into any trouble, huh?”

I was not ready for when Desmond did a quick turn and walked over to me, invading my space, his spicy cologne surrounding me like a warm blanket.

“Do you want a recap of last night?” he asked, his voice was low, husky, and I could feel my thighs clench.

“W-what do you think you are doing?” I asked,

He smirked and flicked my nose, “As I said, little menace, stay out of trouble.”

And with that, he turned to leave like nothing ever happened, leaving me in a daze.

“Where to, ma’am?” Graham asked, and I rolled my eyes, “Look, Graham, I am not eighty years old, just call me Kennedie or Ken, or Kenny, anything but that old ass title,” I said.

He nodded, “Yes, ma’- Kennedy.”

I nodded, “We’ll work on it.”

I handed Graham the address of where I wanted him to take me

“Are you sure?” he asked.

“Please just drive.”

As the car moved, I fiddled with the brown envelope in my hands. Inside it were divorce papers.

This was it.

I wanted nothing to do anymore with that vile man anymore, who just took all of the love that I had for him and stomped on it like it was nothing. He made me look like a fucking clown, and I’d be damned if I just sit back and keep on answering his fucking last name.

“We are here, Kennedie,” Graham said.

“Thank you… I’ll be back soon,” I said.

I got out of the car and stood in front of our apartment that we shared. We were supposed to raise our kids here together.

Why did he just have to do that to me?

I looked at the code…. Did he change the numbers? Well, I guess there was only one way to find out.

I imputed the numbers 1-1-4-5-7-8, and the door opened.

Wow…. I didn’t know what I was more surprised about. The fact that the codes were still the same, or the fact that I never knew that he could be this stupid.

Why did I not just ring the doorbell?

I already knew what I would find from the rail of clothes that began from the corridors. But it was still a sight for sore eyes.

Andrew ploughing into Judith in the living room.

I cleared my throat, and they both moved away from each other

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Judith spat at me

Well, what a surprise.

I had reached out to a few packs to see if they had any idea how to open that damn box, and the answer was still the same.No fucking idea. And it was frustrating because I also knew that I had to keep the knowledge of that mineral under wraps… we sis not even know what it was yet. It would be a hassle if other people knew that there was a mineral that basically made werewolves invisible when compared to the hunters. It would lead to a war even against the other werewolves with everyone scrambling for it too… This is why we had to open that box as soon as possible. The sooner we were able to get a hold of that mineral, the sooner we were able to get this all over with.I had a bad feeling that these hunters would not lay low fo
