The atmosphere shifted, and the murmurs echoing in the pavilion died down instantly.

A horror-filled look masked the ladies’ faces, their eyes flying wide in astonishment.

As Killian stepped into the place, his cold gaze sweeping past everyone, the temperature dropped, a foreboding tension rising.

Sophia looked up, her tear-filled eyes widening for a moment. As if she’d just seen her savior, she rushed into Killian’s arms and began sobbing uncontrollably. “Thank goodness you’re here. Please help me, Killian. Kiara and her friends have set me up. They’ve ganged up to bully me!”

Killian’s eyes flickered with irritation.

Holding her protectively, he murmured, “Why did you leave the house without my permission?”

Then his cold gaze landed on Maya, his icy voice cutting through the tension. “I knew you were up to no good when I heard you’d invited Sophia for a tea party.”

The other ladies were quick to defend themselves.

“M- Mr. Reid, we weren’t a part of it.”

Maya’s infectious smile chased away the lingering anger left by Gerald Storm’s phone call. Kiara sat up on the bed, staring at her in anticipation. “I won’t beat around the bush.” Maya laughed, her eyes glinting with mischief. “The first good news is that the scumbag, Mark Harrington, has met his karma so soon. Cora Reid has canceled their engagement, and photos of him making out with different kinds of women have been circulating online since last night.”Kiara blinked.Indeed, Mark’s karma came too soon. Anyway, the scumbag deserved it. “It’s only a matter of time before the RK Group cancels collaboration with HQ Enterprise. Remember the Old Master Reid dots on Cora. Although her mother was adopted, the old man won’t let this matter slide easily.”“Enough talk about those scumbags anyway,” Maya added, her lips curling up. “Can you guess what the second good news is, Kiara?”Kiara furrowed her brows.Honestly, she couldn’t guess anything right now. It was still early morning, and h

…No response.Killian’s eyes dimmed, staring at the blue marks under the message. It meant she had seen it. Seconds later, he sent another text. [I am giving you the last chance to apologize.]This time, two red exclamation marks appeared beside the last text. She had blocked him!Killian’s fingers curled around the phone, gripping it tight. How stubborn and foolish! Was she even the same Kiara he knew?Maybe she’d been possessed. It might take a lot of suffering before she finally returned to her senses. He still couldn’t believe how fast she had changed. Never had he initiated a conversation with her before. She was always the one seeking his attention. But now, Kiara had the mind to ignore him! She could block him.Angry, Killian tossed his phone on the desk. Then footsteps approached the study room’s door. Sophia walked in, holding a tray containing a cup of coffee and a plate of snacks. She carefully dropped the tray in front of him. “I realized you might want coffee.” She p

After Maya’s instruction, the ladies all brought out their phones and tapped on them rapidly. In a few moments, whispers of disbelief spread across the pavilion. The ladies literally gathered in one place, and spelled out their thoughts loudly;“The jewelry matches with the one on the internet. No doubt, they’re the same.”“The stories match too. And look… It’s not even an heirloom of the Reids’ family.”“The Reids’ family has kept the information regarding its heirloom hidden for so many generations.”“Of course!” Maya’s voice interrupted the whispers. “Lord Arman Dev was Kiara’s great-great-grandfather. Everyone should know the origins of Clarissa Coleman, Kiara’s mother.”The ladies looked flabbergasted.Immediately, they all returned their attentions to their phones, obviously digging through old internet photos. A few seconds later, another round of gasps echoed inside the pavilion.“No way!”“Look, there’s a photo of Kiara’s late mother wearing the same jewelry during one of he

“Oh my goodness, this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen!”The ladies leaned closer, gushing over the jewelry;“This jewelry looks ancient and unique. Only someone like Killian Reid can have access to something so exquisite.” “It must have cost a fortune! You’re so lucky, Sophia.”“Now this is a symbol of true love. This is the best jewelry I’ve seen in my entire life. Which designer did this job? Did Killian give you any details?”Sophia’s eyes shone with pride, her lips curling up. She brought the jewelry to her eye level, and gloated, “This is actually the first gift Killian gave to me in order to win my heart.”The ladies’ smiles were forced, their eyes gleaming with envy.“You must be someone extraordinary. Killian Reid wouldn’t have gone to such great lengths to please someone ordinary.”“Makes me more curious about your family background, Sophia. Killian gifting you something so beautiful means he values you a lot.”“Those lousy jewelry Kiara used to wear were nothing in compar

“Oh, so she’s a stranger.”“That explains it.”“It's no wonder she looks unfamiliar.”Without knowing Sophia’s family background, nobody seemed very much interested in her.The ladies carried on with casual conversations, asking each other about their shared interests. Sophia looked anxious. Shifting in her chair, she hastily added, “You’re right. I don’t live here. In fact, I’m here to visit someone. My fiancé. I think he’s quite popular in this city. His name is Killian Reid.”All the ladies paused what they were doing at once. Their gazes returned to Sophia, and their eyes widened in disbelief. They all turned to her, eyes filled with curiosity.“K- Killian Reid. Y- You mean the Killian Reid?”“That must be a joke. There’s no other popular person in this city named Killian Reid.”“Are you sure it’s the same Killian? It has to be someone else.”“Actually, it’s him.” Sophia smiled proudly. She brought out her phone, tapped into it, and turned the screen to the ladies.Inside were
