CHAPTER 2

ROLLINGS POV CONT'D

Rae becomes irritated. “No f**king way! You know how much I hate to be babysat!”

Braxton smirks. “Either you take 5 warriors, or you will be accompanied by the three of us. The choice is yours.”

I could feel the tension increase, so I needed to do something to de-escalate the situation. “Look, babe, with you and the Luna both being pregnant, our wolves won’t let us focus on our alpha and beta duties, with out knowing that our mates and pups are protected when we are not there.” I pull my mate into my side more and breath in her scent to calm both myself and my wolf down. “We have no problem going with you all to the mall if you want to go.” I smile as I feel Paulette melt into me, and I can’t help but caress her baby bump.

I hear Rae let out a sigh of resignation. I looked to see Braxton stand up and wrap his arms around his mate’s waist from behind. I watch as Braxton rests his head on her shoulder and breathes in her scent as well to calm Jackson down.

“Alight, fine, we will take the warriors with us so that you can all get caught up in the paperwork that has been accumulating since we were in Las Vegas.” Rae finally agreed with the compromise.

I could physically see the worry and tension ease off of Braxton’s features. “Thank you, my love.” He kissed the side of her head. “I do not doubt that you could protect yourself, but the fact that you cannot shift, and that Paulette has no wolf leaves you both at a disadvantage and we do not know how your powers will affect the pups. I would not be able to live with myself if something happened to either you or our pups!

I completely understood exactly how he felt. I would not be able to live without Paulette in my life. I love our pups but if my mate were to get hurt it would physically pain me! I gently hooked my finger under Paulette’s chin and made her look into my eyes. “Please promise me that you will be careful.”

Paulette nodded in agreement. She placed her palm against my cheek, and I could not help but lean into her touch as the tingles spread, making my heart skip a beat. She smiled at my reaction. “I promise babe. Between Sam being an amazing kick-ass Gamma and my very powerful best friend, I think that I’m well protected.” She gasped as her hands flew to her stomach; eyes wide.

I instantly became worried. “What is it? What is wrong, beautiful?!”

She grabbed my hand and placed it next to hers. I was confused until I felt two strong kicks! I smiled proudly at how strong our pups were already! I retracted my hand when Rae ran around the kitchen island, we were sitting to place her hand on Paulette’s belly. I felt a hand clapped against my back as Braxton stood behind me at an angle. “I can’t wait to feel my pups move! I’m envious of you man!”

“It’s only a matter of time before my nephews, all three of them will be strong enough to be felt moving around. Since you are an alpha and obviously Luna is an alpha wolf too, they will be big pups!” I smiled as I watched all our females gushing over my mate’s pregnant belly.

“Rae, my love, when will you all be leaving for the mall?” Braxton asked as he put all the dirty dishes in the sink for the Omega’s to clean later when they arrive.

She gave him a smile. “Right after breakfast and the warriors arrive.” She batted her eyelashes at him, and I immediately knew that she had just won against him with that look.

I chuckled to myself and helped my mate off of her chair. We all walked over to the front door when we were approached by the maid that kept throwing herself at all of us males.

Why can’t we just kill her? Skull growled out.

She hasn’t committed a crime grievous enough to warrant a death sentence…unfortunately! I grumbled in response.

Too bad, I can’t stand that skank!

I laughed at my wolf. I couldn’t agree more with you!

“Good morning, Alpha, Beta, Gamma.” She said, trying to be seductive without being blatant about it. She then looked around and when she spotted our females, particularly the Luna, irritation flared in her eyes before she quickly recovered her emotions. “Are you all headed out?”

I growled at her, but Paulette quickly spoke up. “Why do you need to know what we plan to do? I mean, you are not any of OUR maids and I know that you don’t make the schedules of those that are a higher rank than yourself. So please tell me why you need to know.”

Skull swelled with pride from our mate. Mate is gorgeous when she gets possessive!

Zoey bristled slightly before showing submission. “I apologize, Beta Paulette. I meant no disrespect.”

LIAR! Skull all but yelled.

Don’t worry buddy, we all know that she is a manipulative liar. I tried to sooth my wolf. Only when I felt my mate’s hands rubbing circles against my hand that she grabbed did he finally calm down.

Are you alright? Why is Skull grumbling inside my head? My mate asked through our mind link.

He doesn’t like Zoey because of her behavior. I tell her proudly not hiding my dislike of Zoey as well.

I felt the tension quickly escalate before Braxton spoke. “Zoey, please return to your duties.” He coldly dismissed her.

She gave a curt nod. “As you wish Alpha.” She then quickly left.

We escorted the women to the garage. There were 2 SUV’s warming up, one for the women and 2 of the warriors and one for the remaining 3 warriors and the fruit of their shopping spree. We all said goodbye then watched the SUVs leave before we all re-entered the pack-house from the garage.

We all made our way to Braxton’s office for our daily meeting, then helped him get caught up on his paperwork. I began to get an unease in my heart. Skull, everything okay?

I just miss our mate and pups. I heard him whimper.

I smiled to myself. I do to man; we can always meet them at the mall for lunch if that will make you feel better.

He instantly perked up and wagged his tail in my head.

I figured that would make you happy. I chuckled at my wolf. He was more whipped than I was. A thought came to me. I looked at both my friends. “Hey, why don’t we get some things caught up and then have lunch with our mates?”

Christian’s eyes lit up with excitement. “I am definitely on board with that idea!”
