The Losing Victory

The sun fell on its highest peak, his rays blinded my eyes temporarily and one i recovered from the blindness of the eye, I spotted thousands of werewolves sitting on the bench and waiting for the match to begin. However, I saw something which startled me and it was no ordinary werewolf but the Alpha of the pack.

Distinguishing an Alpha among the others wasn't a problem but his eyes baffled me. All the time, his gaze was on me and I could feel the burning stare he was giving to me. Beside him, it was the sergeant from yesterday's meeting. There was an amusement decorated on his face. Whatever was running in their mind, it seemed nothing good to me.

Suddenly, the alpha arose from the throne and grabbed a microphone to declare an announcement. "My dear friends and pack members, here I present to you the most troublesome rouges of the continent. It took months to gather them here for this occasion. I know that all of you are thrilled and eager to find out the purpose you have been brought for here but wait, I will explain it to the one who will be able to stand till the end." Said the Alpha and then he turned to place his worthless ass on the gold carved throne.

My veins popped and I could smell the aftermath of this trial. It will bring blood and more blood, even if I win today, there would still be bloodlust in my mind to find out the purpose and finish it.

The sergeant picked the microphone and announced, "This is for the rogues present in the arena. Listen very carefully. As you are already aware now that there will be a match between all of you and only one will be able to become victorious. The one who will be the last man standing will be given a mission to complete. Only the most worthy rogue will be given this opportunity and once the mission is completed successfully, they will be given a position and many materialistic benefits in the pack."

So, that was their agenda. But why rogues only? They must have trained other warriors from their pack too? Hun!!! Still, they were being clever and keeping the rogues under shadow. What if they will deliver what they promise? I have to find out.

"So, to become that worthy werewolf, you have to pass this qualification test. For this trial, there will be no matches, but all of you will fight together and only one of you will be the last one standing… so, let the trial begin ...." The sergeant screamed and the crowd went crazy with the roarings and applause they showered in the arena.

A huge bell rang and it's sound was so loud that it must have been heard up to miles. And as soon as the announcement was made, I heard the sound of cracking bones around me. Most of the rogues had shifted already and were willing to fight for this trial.

However, I still had doubts that were unanswered and I wasn't sure if I should fight or not. Standing in the middle of the arena, I watched the werewolves ripping each other apart. There was blood splashed on the ground and covered it red. Still lost in the dilemma, I watched the bloodshed and it didn't affect me a bit. My gaze was fixed on the Alpha sitting on the gold carved throne. His vibes were dangerous and his eyes were holding a lot of the story than he presented here. My lost agenda to live brought me and it was perplexing to take it or let it go.

Suddenly, a rogue decided to attack me when I was not on my guard but his poor physique made him tremble when he shifted. Lack of nutrients and starvation made him unconscious and the rest of the job was done by the rogues. The two rogues popped his arms and hind legs within seconds while I stayed behind and watched them fighting like they had won the test.

The alpha was curious and sitting on the throne, watching the match made him excited but when he noticed that one rogue wolf wasn't bothered to fight, he turned around and glared the sergeant in his eyes.

"You told me that our search has ended with him. He is not even shifted and doing nothing. How can you judge someone so early?" He gritted his teeth while hissing lowly at him.

The sergeant was calm and smiled slightly before responding to the Alpha wolf, "Alpha, I know what it looks like but believe me, I have seen the potential in him and my judgments have never failed till this date. Please, be patient, I know you won't regret this match's results." The sergeant was confident as his eyes landed on the wolf who made him excited for the match.

He called his men and whispered something to them. The men nodded and bowed before leaving the balcony.

Returning to the arena, I was keeping my distance from the wolves. I could have fought them but it was just a waste of time. Suddenly, I saw other rogue wolves entering the arena and they were targeting me. What a shit move? Are they really behind me? Never going to get toasted between them.

I tried to run and hide but they were different and faster than the rogue wolves came along with me. As I glanced at my surroundings, I noticed many of them were dead already and they all had their gaze at me, willing to kill me. Not today!

The wolf attacked me and i flipped back, and shifted in the mid air, my golden brown wolf was ready to tear them apart and The one who attacked me had regretted his moves but before he could lung at me, i jumped and ripped the throat out of his neck and let the blood fountain run over me. The blood lust!!! I needed it!!!

The other wolves had encircled me and the hooting from the crowd was heard loudly. They were shooting for me since they thought it was a game over, when actually, it was the showtime.

Now that I was encircled by the wolves, I could attack in any direction to kill them all. So, I flipped while jumping and tore the chest of the wolf who stood behind me. I killed him within seconds and the other wolves jumped to attack me. I slid and dodged the attack on time and let them kill each other while making my work easy. Three of them were killed instantly and now the remaining wolves were behind me. I had no intention of backing out so instead of running and hiding, I faced them with a loud growl. A few wolves stayed behind when I growled but two of them came running towards me. Not too far when they jumped in the middle.fo the air and I jumped too. With my massive paws, I scratched the chest of the wolf who landed right in front of me. I twisted his neck and killed him while the other one jumped on my back and bit me. The pain coursed through my skin made me whimper. The injured area was burning as if someone had poured boiling oil over it. When he bit me and didn't back off, I slapped my long nails into his neck from both of my hands and ripped his cavernous veins, killing him on the spot.

The bite he gave me was painful and I was left paralysed by the lethal attack. I snapped and forgot the pain he caused me and attacked the remaining wolves. Most of them were dead and there were only two wolves left in the arena.

One was me, and another one was a rogue who came from the pack. Maybe, he was a warrior once but his scent had the hint of betrayal.

He was showing his sharp canines and the wound on my back ached. There was definitely a connection with the bite from these different wolves.

He lunged at me and tossed me a few metres away. Now my body was weak as I had lost blood due to wounds and injuries on my body, but my head was dizzy. I couldn't focus and heard the bells ringing around me. Although, it was a hallucination and it must be because of the bite. My knees were getting weak but the wolf was ready to kill me. I cannot die, not now. When he came running towards me, I stood in defence and he dug his canines into my chest and we both stood on the ground. As the blood poured out from the wound, we both fell on the ground. My eyes were getting heavy but I was no longer feeling the pain.

When I shifted on my side and saw the wolf beside me, with my talons dug and pierced into his heart, his soulless eyes were staring into my heavy ones. I withdrew my hand out of his chest and tried to get up. With my own injuries, I couldn't stand but I was still making all the attempts to get up and look into the Alpha's eyes. His face was decorated with utter shock and being flabbergasted to see a weak rogue still standing on his feet made him surprised. I passed a slight smile before the crowd applauded violently. The announcements were made but all the noises were dissonant as I felt my body getting lighter and I saw darkness covering my eyes from the corner. With a loud thud, I knew I had fallen on the ground.
