Roman~

The underground lounge wasn’t what Roman expected to find in a small, un-rated restaurant like this.

Just as the elevator slid open, immediately, the air changed. Dim golden lights washed over sleek black walls, and the faint beat of bass vibrated beneath his shoes. Expensive liquor and perfume hung heavy in the air, mixed with something dark energy, cigars, secrets, and power.

“Wow.”

Roman’s eyes swept over the place. It wasn’t large, but it screamed exclusivity. Velvet booths hugged the walls, glass partitions gave each corner an illusion of privacy, and the center bar glittered with imported bottles that didn’t belong in a place this hidden.

There was no drunken stumbles, no loud laughter. Not even a faint whisper.

Two guards stood by the entrance, their faces colder than steel. On their waists hung a pair of matte-black pistols. Their eyes didn’t move, yet Roman knew they’d clocked everything about him: his watch, his shoes, everything.

“Check in,” one said coldly, eyes lo

  • Betrayed By Husband And Son: Rise Of A Billionaire Wife    Sarah's Theories

Adele~ “So, that was what happened,” I plopped into my chair like all my energy had been drained. In a sense, it had. Emily and Sarah stared at me like I’d just pressed a button and set off a nuclear bomb to destroy the country. Sarah’s mouth made a perfect O; Emily’s hand went to her chest as if she needed to steady her heart. “You’re kidding,” she breathed. “You actually — what? Ethan is not your son…and CEO Leigh D. West of WestCorp is Detroit West…your husband?” “That man who got us croissants every morning, the one with the mafia boss vibes, the one who sneaks into your room at night, is CEO Leigh D…your husband.” Sarah reiterated and amplified what Emily just asked, as if I didn't know or understand the gravity of what I just said. Maybe they thought I was playing an April fool or any on them. It wasn't even April! I let out a ridiculous, exhausted laugh…the kind that sounds like it’s trying to decide between hysteria and relief…and I sank deeper into the chair.

Adele~ “And you are?” I raised an eyebrow. I didn't know who she was. I haven't seen her in visual meetings in all of my stay at the hospital. Although I learned we hired more hands. Mark cleared his throat. “Adele, this is Miranda Hale. International growth strategist. She’s worked with properties across different countries.” I tried not to look shocked, but I wasn't sure how my face was holding up. An international strategist? What was she doing at my start-up resort? I glanced over other new faces too. Now, some faces began to make sense — the graduate from Stormfield, with the last name, Harrington. Anderson, the man who designed events for foreign diplomats. Rivers, the woman with seven years of experience working with luxury resort chains. Funny enough, we didn’t pay them more than we could afford simply because they had experience that could put us on the map faster than any marketing campaign. And now, here they were, sitting in my boardroom, waiting for my approval as

Sarah pushed the door to the meeting room open and my eyes rounded at the number of people who turned their heads in my direction. Old faces, new faces, and of course, Manager Mark’s surprised face. “Tada!” Sarah made a dramatic gesture with her hands, like she was presenting me as the grand prize of a raffle no one signed up for. The whole room went silent for a beat before Manager Mark pushed back his chair, eyebrows climbing up his forehead. “Adele?” he said, like my name was a question on a quiz show. “Hi,” I murmured, fighting the urge to step behind Sarah and disappear. “Surprise, surprise,” she sang, nudging me further inside until I had no choice but to walk in. “Our dearest CEO has arrived. You’re welcome.” I shot her a glare that promised future revenge in the form of withholding croissants. She should have told me we were heading into a crowd filled with hungry sharp eyes. I thought she was bringing me to Emily and Mark. Technically, she brought me to them,

Adele~ “Oh my, Adele! Look at you!” Sarah cried, veering off the corridor like a puppy chasing a thrown ball. My smile stretched so wide it almost turned into a grimace. “Long time, no see, Sarah.” “Oh please, I came to see you at the hospital three nights ago.” She squinted at me, and then started babbling nonstop. “We missed you. How are you? How’s Ethan? I saw the posts. My goodness, what a mess. And Mia, oh, I can’t believe she picked you as chief bridesmaid. That’s… surprising, considering you aren't even close.” Surprising was diplomatic. Infuriating might be closer to the truth. “Ethan’s stable. Thanks for asking. As for Mia, well, people like her make bold choices. It’s great for her, honestly.” “People are saying you asked to be chief bridesmaid because…” Sarah lowered her voice to a scandalized whisper, “You're desperate to be a part of her circle.” She raised an alarm, her hands flying in the air. I was startled. “Like, come on, how could anyone say such a thing ab

  • Betrayed By Husband And Son: Rise Of A Billionaire Wife    All About Business

Adele~ Even though they believed me, I'd still get the backlash for getting in between Mia and Detroit, knowing those two had been unofficially offered to each other since childhood. I bit my finger, fighting the urge to scream. Her voice somehow managed to cut through my spiraling mind again, a fake angelic smile plastered on her face. “...because Adele has been such an important part of our journey. The details will be…” I choked on air. Important part of what journey?! My jaw dropped. The audacity. The absolute villainy. This woman had rewritten history and made me the supporting actress in her fairytale. “I absolutely cannot have her as a co-wife. Not even a concubine or a mistress!” “Who are you not allowing as a mistress?” Detroit appeared, a black shopping bag in one hand, while his injured hand tucked inside his pocket. “Are you going to marry Mia, Detroit?!” I barked at him. Okay, he'd explained he wouldn't. I mean, it was obvious he wouldn't. I knew that all of t

  • Betrayed By Husband And Son: Rise Of A Billionaire Wife    Seeking Trouble Where There's None

Adele~ Okay, I was overthinking. There was no repercussion, just furrowed brows and nagging on how I'd gotten too ‘thin’ and ‘unhealthy’. And wanted me to eat more and relax my body and mind. He said I was dangling between large and medium in a week, all the way from XL, and that was crazy. Okay, to be honest, Ethan’s situation wasn't the only vacuum that sucked up my fat. The stress of meeting deadlines before the open week festival was the first catalyst, but I wasn't going to tell Detroit that. Considering how much fussing he was doing right now, he might just close down my resort or place someone else as a temporary CEO. “Fine, I admit I'm just a little stressed and tired, but I promise you, I’m fine. Look,” I twirled, jumped, and threw myself onto the bed, bouncing up like I was auditioning for a mattress commercial. “See? I didn't pass out. I'm perfectly healthy!” I declared, my hair flopping over my face in a way that definitely did not scream grace or elegance. Layi
