Lykan pov

I stared at the sleeping Elena in my arms.

I couldn’t sleep I had been thinking about the journey we were about to embark on.

What if u couldn't protect her and something bad happened?

No, I couldn’t think such negative things.

She moved, adjusting herself. Oh my Elena.

She was so beautiful. Her face looked so peaceful when she was asleep. You probably wouldn't believe she was a warrior.

She was a strong woman and very independent, which is what scared me the most.

I wish she would rely more on me and allow me to share some of her burdens.

I wanted her to be happy.

That's why I must kill Kairos to give her peace of mind.

Those bastards at the Northern Range Pack would also pay.

I stared at her again. Running my fingers on her cheeks.

I needed to sleep tomorrow was going to be a long day.

I closed my eyes and tightened my grip on her.

-------------

I could feel someone touching my face. It had to be Elena.

What was she doing? She ran her fingers across m

Elena’s POVThe morning came too fast. The sky was still dim, painted in soft gray strokes. Cold air wrapped around the camp like a warning, sharp and whispering. I barely slept my mind kept returning to Lykan’s voice calling the baby “a little Elena.” It played over and over again in my head like a lullaby, warm and soft… until the fear crept back in.What if I lost this one too? No, I couldn't be thinking such negative things.I slipped out of the tent before Lykan stirred. I needed to move, breathe, and think. My legs felt restless. My body needed the movement maybe my baby did too.The snow crunched quietly beneath my boots as I walked, arms wrapped tightly around myself. Most of the camp was still quiet. A few scouts were murmuring as they packed weapons, and a few horses snorted softly, steam rising from their breath. It was peaceful… deceptively peaceful.I walked toward the edge of the clearing, further from camp, just past the thinned-out trees near the base of the mountain.

Elena povIt was getting dark fast, the kind of dark that swallowed everything except the crunch of hooves on ice and the soft whistle of the wind. One wrong move, especially near the mountain base, could trigger an avalanche. Lykan had split the scouts—some hunting, some searching for a safe place to camp. Eventually, one found a spot under a rocky ledge with decent cover, and we all made our way there.By the time we arrived, I was exhausted. My legs ached, my head buzzed, and my stomach... felt strange. Again.Scouts quickly set up a rough circle of tents, dug shallow pits for fire, and began cooking whatever small game they'd managed to catch. The flames cast warm orange shadows across the snow, and for a moment, things felt normal.I sat near the fire, hugging my knees, watching the flames dance.Lykan joined me, handing me a portion of roast meat wrapped in cloth. He sat close, his thigh brushing mine, his voice low.“You okay?” he asked, studying my face with a softness he rare

Elena pov.Dominic hadn't shut ùp the whole ride. We were supposed to make it to the Northern Range in a day, but cause we didn't expect to meet the witches, now we had to rethink, cause it was going to take us 2days.It was getting dark and we still hadn't found a place to camp. The snow was thicker here and we were close to a mountain. One wrong move could trigger an avalanche. It was best to be careful.Looking over my shoulder, I could see Lykan and Dominic talking. We needed more space. We were now 4 extra people might not seem like a lot, but they are actually a lot, especially cause we have a limited supply. Lykan had ordered some scouts to go hunt while the rest looked for a perfect site to camp.“Hi” I turned to see the youngest witch looking at me eyes wide I turned to see the youngest witch, eyes wide and curious. She had the kind of face that didn’t belong in this frozen wasteland—soft features, delicate nose, and the bluest eyes I’d ever seen. Her long blond hair spille

Elena POVI couldn’t go back to sleep. The vision clung to me like frost on my skin, crawling under my bones, whispering that something was coming—something I might not be able to stop.Even wrapped in Lykan’s arms, with the warmth of the fire and his steady breath against my hair, the feeling didn’t leave me. It only grew heavier. My heart still raced like I hadn’t truly woken up.Lykan shifted beside me, sensing it."Still with me?" he asked softly."Yeah," I whispered. "Barely."He pulled back, brushing a strand of hair from my face. "Come on. Let's walk it off.""What, now?""You need air. And maybe some distance from Dominic's snoring."Despite the ache in my chest, I smiled faintly. We slipped out of the tent quietly. The world outside was blanketed in moonlight and snow, the firelight from camp flickering dimly behind us. We walked side by side through the trees, boots crunching through the frost, silence stretching between us.I didn’t need to speak. He didn’t push. Just let m

Elena POV The wind shifted. I felt it before I heard it. That kind of stillness that doesn't feel like peace, but like the world holding its breath. The forest, quiet and draped in frost, seemed to whisper warnings through the trees. My horse slowed beneath me, her ears twitching. Ahead, Lykan raised a hand, signaling us to halt. The crunch of hooves on snow stopped. Only silence remained. Then—a crack. A sharp snap of a branch, followed by hurried footsteps. The scent hit me next: burnt herbs, old blood, and magic. Witches. "Incoming," Dominic muttered, hand already on the hilt of his blade. "And they're not walking." They burst from the trees like shadows given form. Four of them—cloaked in tattered robes, faces pale with fear, blood streaked across their arms and cheeks. One of them stumbled, falling hard into the snow, while the others skidded to a stop at the sight of us. The tallest of them, a woman with tangled black hair and glowing green eyes, raised her hand. A s

Elena pov The snow had started falling again not heavy, just a soft flutter of flakes that danced in the sunlight. We were riding in quiet for a while, the steady rhythm of hooves padding through the frost-covered ground. Trees lined the trail, frost glittering on their bare branches like glass. It was peaceful, but tension still lingered in the air leftover from the truth Lykan had learned that morning. He hadn’t said much since then.Neither had I.Until, of course, Dominic opened his mouth.“So how does it feel to find out your whole life is a lie? “ He said facing Lykan “Seriously that's your opening line.“ Lykan says obviously pissed.“So,” he said loudly, “our Alpha’s not Black Mountain-born. Tragic. I guess I’ll have to burn all my loyalty letters and start a coup.”Lykan didn’t even flinch. “Try it and I’ll toss you off your horse.”Dominic grinned. “Still my Alpha. Secret bloodline or not.”Lykan turned his head slightly. “You’re not even part of my pack.”“I feel so hurt.
