Chapter 7

Author: CC
When I arrived in the neutral zone, I left everything behind.

I stopped thinking about Elias. Stopped letting the past control me.

This place was nothing like Crimson Moon. People here—human and wolf—lived side by side. Open fields stretched out under wide skies. Forests lined the roads, dense and green. The air was crisp, the kind that filled your lungs and cleared your head.

It felt like a new beginning. A place where I could finally breathe.

I focused on getting better. But I also made time to travel and explore.

The neutral zone had mountains. Snow on the peaks, forests below. Lakes that caught the light just right.

I'd spent years not seeing any of it.

Everything had been Elias. Crimson Moon. Being Luna.

Now I had space. Space to breathe. Space to see what I'd been missing.

Days passed. I smiled more. Felt lighter.

One afternoon, I wandered into a small town just in time for the Christmas parade.

The streets were packed. Twinkling lights everywhere, music spilling from every corne

After that night, he was like a madman, following me everywhere, every single day.Wherever I went, I could see him lurking in the distance—always there, always watching.I sighed. This wasn't going to work. My trip was supposed to give me peace, but how could I relax with him stalking me?So I decided to end my travels early and go back to my home in the neutral territories. The whole way back, I kept looking over my shoulder, taking detours, switching routes. Finally, I made it to my place without him catching up.But Elias found me anyway. He was standing at my door when I got back. He looked terrible—dark circles under his eyes, wrinkled clothes hanging off his frame. Nothing like the put-together Alpha I'd known for eight years. When he saw me, his face lit up. "Lena, you're finally here. I've been looking everywhere for you."I just stared at him. Cold. Silent."Lena, I messed up. I know I did. Just give me one more chance." His voice cracked. "The pups need a father. You can't r

Elias's mind was spinning.Sophia sat at the vanity, completely lost in her own fantasy, still muttering to herself. She hadn't noticed him in the doorway."God, Elena—that bitch walks around like she owns the place just because daddy's an elder. I'm so done with her."She held up one of Elena's necklaces to the light, admiring it."Second chance mate? Eight years together?" A bitter laugh. "Please. Took me five minutes to wrap Eli around my finger."Something inside Elias snapped. He crossed the room in three strides, Alpha aura flooding out uncontrolled."Sophia."His voice cut through her monologue like a blade."What are you doing in my bedroom?"She spun around, face draining white."Eli—when did you—""Around the time you started playing Luna." His jaw clenched. "Want to explain that?""I can explain—" She reached for him desperately. He stepped back sharply. "Don't touch me."She froze, hand suspended in the air between them."I protected you. Kept you safe. Made sure you had ev

I was gone. And Elias was unraveling. At the pack hospital, Elias sat beside Sophia's bed. Outside, the sky had gone from afternoon gold to deep evening blue.Something was wrong. He could feel it—a hollow ache in his chest. My face kept surfacing in his mind. The way I'd agreed so easily at the hospital to let Sophia stay. How indifferent I'd seemed when he brought Sophia home. And that look in my eyes when he'd accused me of hurting her.He thought of the two guards stationed outside my door. They'd keep watch. But the unease wouldn't leave."Eli?" Sophia's voice pulled him back. "Are you okay? You look worried. Is it about Luna Elena?"Before he could answer, she gasped—a sharp, breathless sound. Her hand clenched over her belly, her face twisting in pain."Sophie?" Elias was on his feet instantly. "What's wrong?""It hurts—"He hit the call button. Zachary appeared within minutes, examined her, then straightened."Cramps. Stress-related. She needs rest and monitoring."Elias exhale

That evening, Elias brought Sophia home.He opened the car door himself, guiding her out like she might break. Pack guards hauled her luggage up the steps.I stood in the doorway, gripping the frame so hard my knuckles went white.Eight years. This had been our home for eight years."Watch that step, Sophie," Elias murmured. She smiled up at him. "You're too good to me, Eli."Elias cooked dinner that night—something he hadn’t done for me in years. Every dish on the table was Sophia’s favorite. He set a steaming bowl in front of her. “Peanut soup, Sophie. Good for the baby.” His smile lit his face… not for me.“Eli, you’re spoiling me. Won’t Luna Elena be upset?” Her gaze flicked to mine—sweet smile, but her eyes were pure malice. He stiffened, then rushed to smooth it over. “Don’t worry. Lena understands. You need to eat well.” He slid a bowl toward me. “Here, Lena. Have some too.”I stared at it. “I’m allergic to peanuts.”His hand froze. "Right. Sorry. I was thinking about what Sophi

Fortunately, Sophia's "fall" wasn't serious. After a routine checkup, Elias took her back to her hospital room.I stood in the doorway watching him fuss over her—fluffing pillows, adjusting blankets, checking the IV. He moved around her so carefully, you’d think they’d been mates for eight years. And me? I felt like the other woman, crashing someone else’s relationship."Eli, let Luna Elena come in."Sophia's voice drifted out, weak and breathy.Elias glanced at me, then looked away too quickly, like he couldn’t face me.I took a breath and walked into the room. The air felt too warm, too close.“Luna Elena, please don’t be mad at Alpha Eli.”She sat propped against the pillows, one hand on her belly, pale against the sheets. “I asked him to call you. We need to talk properly.”I pressed my lips together. She put on her sweet, wounded act, pretending to be the victim. I refused to play along.Elias sat beside me and took my hand. His scent was different now—something sweet mixed with t
