My stomach flared up again after pulling an all-nighter at work, so I asked my fiancee to go home and grab my medicine. Two hours later, she finally came back, but she was empty-handed. "Where's the medicine?" I asked weakly. "Oh, I forgot. Chris called last minute and said he had a fever, so I went to bring him some fever meds first." After she said that, she dialed a number on her phone and asked worriedly, "Are you feeling any better now?" On the other end of the line was the childhood friend she always talked about. At that moment, I calmly pulled the IV needle out of my hand and told her we were done. She frowned. "Just because I went to take care of Chris first?" "I was on an IV drip. He just has a common cold." I said each word slowly. "Can you be a little more mature?" she asked with a look of disappointment on her face. "Fine. If that's how you feel, then whatever." She thought it was just an ordinary argument. She had no idea that the moment she chose to forget the medicine that could've saved me, our relationship had already reached a point of no return.

Betrayed by My Ex-Girlfriend Chapter 10
I held the diagnosis and stood on the balcony for a long time. The evening wind rustled the paper in my hand.In the end, I picked up a lighter and set it on fire. The flame rose and consumed every word on the paper. It also burned away the heavy, suffocating past.Be it love, hatred, obsession or betrayal, it was all over. With Wanda gone, and with the diagnosis reduced to ashes, everything had finally faded away. What I needed to do wasn't dwell on the past.Instead, I needed to cherish what was in front of me.I turned around and went back into the living room. Melissa was reading on the couch.I walked over and hugged her from behind."Mel.""Hmm?""Thank you."'Thank you for showing up and pulling me out of the darkness. Thank you for showing me what a healthy kind of love looks like.'She put her book down, turned around, and hugged me back."Silly. You don't need to thank me."A year later, our son, Harry Underwood, was born.Harry looked like me, but his eyes

The police found a diary among Wanda's belongings. They contacted me and asked if I wanted to claim it.I hesitated, but in the end, I still went to get it.The diary was thick. It recorded her entire journey from arrogance to regret and complete despair. At the beginning, it was filled with complaints about me.She wrote that I held her back and that I wasn't generous enough. In the middle, after I left, she wrote about her panic and regrets. She wrote that for the first time, she realized how empty and helpless life was without me.On the very last page, there was only one sentence. The handwriting was messy. It looked as if she had used the last of her strength."The medicine that could've saved me was always in my hands."I just kept throwing it away myself."The officer handed me the diary and asked if I wanted to take it.I looked at it, and it felt like I was staring at Wanda's regret-filled face. That diary felt too burdensome for me.In the end, I refused.I ha

Later, I heard that Wanda was living in a cheap rental on the outskirts of the city. Her room was filled with empty bottles. The air smelled sour.Curled up on a worn-out couch, she held a phone with a cracked screen. She was watching the replay of my proposal over and over again. In the video, I stood confident and composed while Melissa smiled radiantly. We looked perfect together, and we seemed so happy.Wanda had lost a tremendous amount of weight. Her gaze looked hollow and empty. She kept muttering to herself."If only I had brought the medicine."If only I hadn't gone to see Chris."If only."Unfortunately, hypothetical 'what ifs' didn't matter in the world. She once held the cure to everything, but she threw it away with her own hands again and again.Regret slowly chipped away at her conscience. She felt miserable day and night. Her life seemed to be reaching its end.Melissa and I held our wedding by the sea.The sun was bright, and the breeze was gentle.Fr

Wanda refused to leave.Like a mad person, she waited downstairs at my company for days. She would linger around from day to night. She lost her composure and looked almost like a beggar. She was trying to win my sympathy through suffering.Unfortunately, she miscalculated.I walked past her every day without sparing her a glance. In fact, Melissa and I made no effort to hide our closeness. We went to work together and left the office together. We exchanged knowing smiles during our work discussions. We served each other food at meals. Each moment was like a dull blade that slowly cut into Wanda's heart. That evening, the temperature in South City dropped. As Melissa and I walked out of the building, a cold breeze blew past us.She shuddered a little.I immediately took off my coat and draped it over her shoulders.I then adjusted the collar for her.My movements were gentle, and my gaze was soft.Wanda saw everything from not far away. She had once received that sam

After the meeting ended, Wanda called me to her office. The moment the door shut, she started shouting furiously."Enzo! What the hell was that?"You did that on purpose, didn't you? You wanted to humiliate me in front of the investors!"She swept everything off her desk in one motion."You emb

"Enzo, put the phone down!"Wanda snapped out of it and ran toward me. She tried to snatch my phone away.I sidestepped her. The camera stayed locked on Chris."Say it," I uttered coldly.Chris avoided my gaze and stammered, but he couldn't get a single word out. When Wanda failed to snatch the

Wanda didn't come. She still didn't come. She didn't even call.On the fourth day, I discharged myself from the hospital in disappointment.I dragged my weak body back to the home Wanda and I shared. It was the home I had personally designed, brick by brick. The moment I pushed the door open, I

I yanked the IV needle out of my hand. Blood from the open wound trickled down the back of my hand.Wanda Lynch looked at me and frowned."Enzo Underwood, what are you doing now?"Her tone sounded like she was scolding a misbehaving child.I looked at her and felt my heart getting colder."Let'
