Chapter 3

Sharon's POV

I awoke in a strange room as my eyes adjusted to the low light.

Feeling very disoriented , I looked around , trying to find any familiar feature.

I was scared so many thoughts ran through my head.

Then the door opened. I covered myself with the blanket in fear.

“Relax. I brought you here ,” a thick masculine voice answered.

He was remarkably fine his silhouette seemed to command attention in the surrounding darkness.

Even in my disarray , my heart began to flutter at the sight of him.

His voice, smooth and commanding, sliced through the silence of the night as he called out to me , trying to gauge my state.

“Are you alright now?” he asked , bringing me back to reality.

“I ummm.. ” I struggled with my words, as I laid down the blanket and got up from the bed.

“And where are you going?” he asked.

“The fact that you helped me doesn’t make you lord over me , so I’m not obligated to answer that. I have to go now ,” I said, hoping he wouldn’t bring out a gun and shoot me.

“Just so you know, I saw you on my way back home, on the road you had passed out,” he informed me.

“I think you should rest before leaving. You had quite a concussion, and I doubt you can remember anything.. Rest.”

“No, thank you,” I replied, walking toward the door carefully, head down , avoiding his gaze.

I searched for any footwear, put them on, and ran out of his house toward Killian’s. I had nowhere else to go.

I ran from the man’s house, my heart full of urgency. I needed to tell Killian about the pregnancy. That was my only hope that he would choose me over Mirabel..

I was certain Killian would be happy with the news. I hadn’t told him yet about his heir, and I was sure he would reject Mirabel and choose me , with his fated mate.

When I got to his house, I walked straight into his room like it was mine and I saw Killian kissing Mirabel.

A sharp pain hit my chest, like being stabbed in an open wound. I didn’t say a word. I wasn’t surprised but I was still hurt.

Still, I believed I could turn back time figuratively. I was carrying his child. That was power enough to make him change his mind.

I coughed to announce my presence.

They both turned toward me. The look on Mirabel’s face was disgusting but I had hope. Hope that all of this would change in the next few minutes.

Killian walked slowly toward me.

“What are you still doing here? I told you I never loved you. I only used you. Why is that so hard to understand , huh?” His voice cut me like a blade, but I stayed hopeful. Once he heard me out , everything would change.

“But.. You promised me, Killian , that you’d always be there for me ” I tried to remind him of our time together.

“Oh, shut it!” Mirabel snapped. “Killian, why are you even entertaining her? You’ve already rejected her.. ”

“I’m pregnant!” I dropped the bomb. My last resort. My only hope of not being banished.

Mirabel had no leverage no child. But I did. And that meant something.

Killian turned at my words. So did Mirabel.

“What? You’re what?” he asked.

“I’m pregnant!” I repeated, over and over.

He looked shaken. I saw it in his eyes. He knew what it meant. I had won.

“I’m also pregnant!” Mirabel suddenly blurted out, leaving both of us stunned.

That couldn’t be possible. How? When? Why?

She must be lying. She had to be.

“What?! You can’t go around saying that. You know what it means there would be no punishment for me, but for you two.. you’ll get punished,” Killian said , eyes darting between us.

“Killian!” I snapped.

“Can you both just stop with the games? People might actually believe you!” he yelled.

I was confused. It was now time for Killian to choose but how could he when everything was spinning?

“I’m not joking. I’m actually pregnant. I went to the doctor. I have the test results. Please, Killian , don’t throw me out of the Moontown Pack. Don’t let them banish me!” I begged.

“If you think I’m lying, here.. ” I handed him the report. “This proves I’m pregnant.”

“You think I don’t have proof too?” Mirabel scoffed. She walked over to her bag and pulled something out.

A pregnancy strip. And a piece of paper.

My heart pounded in my chest. She handed the paper to Killian.

The room grew tense as he stood there, holding both our pregnancy results.

“Shit,” he cussed , pacing back and forth, looking between us.

Mirabel looked impatient. She wanted his decision, even though she had stolen what wasn’t hers from the start. She didn’t want me to take Killian back.

I just wanted what was mine.. being Killian’s mate.

“Killian, say something! Don’t tell me you’ll pick this self righteous bitch over me?” Mirabel asked, glaring at me.

“You don’t have the right to call me that, you whore. You sleep around with other people’s men!” I shouted.

“Killian, remember we’re fated mates. I know you can feel it!” I pleaded, desperate.

“Will you both just shut up!?” Killian snapped.

He paused, turned to me, and I could already feel the loss before he even spoke.

“Get out, you whore. I don’t even know if that bastard is mine or if you’re trying to rope me in with someone else’s child!”

“Killian!” I cried. His words pierced my heart like a dagger..

“My parents liked you because they thought you were decent. I wanted to prove them wrong. Once they find out you're pregnant and it’s not mine they’ll do the needful,” he smirked , wrapping his arm around Mirabel’s waist.

“You’re no fun. You made my life boring until I met this angel here. She brought color back into my world. Now get lost and get banished for all I care.” He laughed cruelly.

“Oh, Killian.. ” Mirabel cooed.

“Get out!” he yelled. Mirabel pushed me, and I stumbled, falling hard on the ground outside.

“Please… don’t do this to me.” I cried out, my body aching.

Killian and Mirabel just smirked at me.

“If you don’t leave this minute, I’ll report this to Alpha Mendez and the elders ,” he said, cold as ice.

His voice held no mercy. “You really thought you could trust them?” he sneered.

I stood there , speechless. How did this happen? How could the people I loved turn everything into a nightmare?

“I’m done,” I whispered. But the storm swallowed my voice.

Rain poured hard and fast. But it couldn’t drown the storm inside me.

I was frozen. The rain soaked me to the bone, but I didn’t care. My fear was bigger than the storm. It was inside me..

“What do I do now?” I asked the sky.

No answer came. I started walking.

No one was on the road. Only rain.

Every step felt like lifting a mountain.

How did everything go so wrong?

I didn’t know where I was going, but I had to move.

Then I heard it another set of footsteps.

At first, they were faint.. masked by the rain. But they were there.

My heart pounded. Was I being followed?

I didn’t dare look back.

“Keep going ,” I told myself. I moved faster.

But the footsteps grew louder.

Fear gripped me. Was it Killian? Did he send someone?

I didn’t want to know. I ran.

The steps chased me. Closer and closer.

I couldn’t breathe. My legs screamed. My chest burned.

“What if I don’t make it?” I thought.

The panic was suffocating. I pushed harder, even though I had nothing left.

Then, just when I thought I couldn’t go on something unexpected happened...

Chapter 76Jake's POVI threw the crumpled note onto my desk‚ my mind began to race. Why now—why did this have to happen when Sharon and I were not on good terms? Sharon was pissed at me because of the previous incident‚ and I couldn’t blame her.I stood in a not-so-uniformed manner and began pacing the room. My instincts kept screaming danger‚ but from where? A shadow shifted near the treeline. “Show yourself!” I growled‚ my voice echoing through the silence. No response

"I already told you. She’s just someone from my past.""That is not good enough‚ Jake." Sharon’s tone became edged with so much frustration.
