Jade

He went as still as stone, looking down at me like I had suddenly grown two heads. “What did you say?”

“A piggyba—”

“Don’t fuck with me right now, Jade. I’m not in the mood for your childish games.”

“Ooh, big, bad and scary.” I giggled abruptly. “I’m getting chills.”

The alcohol was the one definitely talking at the moment because I wouldn’t willingly dig myself into my own grave.

“I’m going to leave your ass out here to freeze off if you don’t quit it and get in my arms right the fuck now.”

I gasped. “You wouldn’t be that heartless, would you?”

His jaw was clenched so hard I was scared he was going to break a tooth. Then he suddenly exploded in a litany of vicious profanities before turning around and crouching in front of me, presenting his broad, sturdy back to my appreciative gaze.

“Hop on.”

My heart warmed in my chest and I carefully crawled onto him, thinking I needed to get drunk more often if he was always going to be this agreeable whenever I was.

I gripped him around the shoulders and chest as he began walking, loving how I could feel his pecs shift and contract beneath my touch. When the winds picked up around us, the chill getting harsher, I hugged him more tightly.

“Julian.”

“What?” he barked.

“I’m horny.” I confessed without shame, releasing one hand to twirl a finger in his dark wavy hair.

No one could blame me, really. I was entirely pressed up against his solidness, nipples flattened to his back and thighs spread around his waist. In my dress, that meant my center was directly rubbing up against him with every step he took, only separated from his skin by a scrap of flimsy lace and his shirt layer.

I wondered if he could feel the heat through his shirt, feel me soaking through the material because I was hopelessly wet for him.

“You smell so good.” I buried my nose in his neck and inhaled deep. He jolted hard, faltering in his steps as he climbed the patio and got to the back door. “I want to gobble you up, lick you all over.”

His arms tightened under my thighs, muscles flexing deliciously against my heated skin. “Stop it, Jade. Just stop talking.”

“Why? Are my words affecting you? Is the big bad wolf getting turned on by the innocent little lamb?”

“You? Innocent?” He asked as he slid the door open and carried us in. I was mesmerized by the raw strength he possessed, the effortless way in which he wielded it. “Did you see what you wore out tonight? Fucking hell, Jade, I didn’t know you were that desperate for attention. I almost mistook you for a hooker.”

My heart thudded painfully in my chest as his words sunk into my alcohol-addled brain. “You don’t mean that.”

“I do. Parading those tight nipples around like a sinful temptation begging to be noticed by every man in the room. And that hair practically inviting a man’s fist to wrap around the silky length and tug back as he plows mercilessly into you. It can only mean one thing.”

My pussy clenched hard at his dirty words, pulsing in embarrassing emptiness as I imagined him doing those stuff to me.

Was that normal? I shouldn’t be turned on, right? I was supposed to feel insulted.

God-fucking-dammit.

“W-what does it mean?” I prompted him, wanting to know what he thought of me.

“That you’re anything but an innocent little lamb. More like a dangerously cunning vixen.”

He had gotten to the master bedroom now and dumped me on the upholstered bed the moment he uttered those words with the utmost level of disgust.

He looked down at my sprawled body, eyeing my scattered limbs and disheveled hair and overall terrible-looking appearance.

Without saying a word, he backed into the bathroom before emerging a few moments later with a cup of water and a few pills.

“Take these before you sleep.” He set them on the nightstand then straightened himself and headed for the door.

My heart squeezed, not wanting to see him go.

He turned in the doorway with an unreadable expression. “Sleep it off. And when you regret all of this by morning, don’t come to me with silly apologies. I won’t be interested in hearing them… or seeing your face.”

Then he slammed the door shut and disappeared from sight.

JulianI had a fucking splitting headache.Rubbing my temple, I barely glanced at the folder Evans, my acquisitions director, slid my way while I read through the latest reports on my computer screen.“The investors on the Harbor Point project are saying they want another look at the expected returns.”“Why’s that?” I inquired sharply. “I thought this deal was already in the bag. I personally met with them last week.”“Yeah, about that… someone else has shown interest," he hesitated. “Montgomery Group. Seems like they’re now aware of how much of a goldmine this new development could be.”That finally got my attention and I leaned back in my chair to drill a hard stare into him.“How much did they offer?”“Five hundred and eight million. Which puts them at a mere twelve million behind us. They’re obviously willing to start a bidding war.”A muscle jumped in my jaw, a fresh wave of tension tightening my limbs.Maxwell fucking Montgomery, my biggest business rival.I should have expected

JadeBells grabbed her suitcase handle and cocked her head. “Hmm, it depends on what kind of curse to really get my attention, you know.”Shrugging, I leaned nonchalantly against the car to count off my fingers. “You take your pick: bad hair day, skin rash, nasty cold from hell, broken Jimmy Choo heel…”She gasped and clutched her chest. “How dare you. You know how much I adore my Jimmy Choos.”“Then you know how serious I am. Capisce?”“Capisce, ma’am,” she responded with a salute, causing a laugh to bubble out of me.“At ease, soldier. You’re dismissed.”She pulled me into a hug before whispering into my ear, “Tell Julian I’m going to fly over here and skin him balls first if he ever fucking makes you sad or hurt or cry again, you hear me?”“Loud and clear.”She released me then squeezed one of my boobs with a cheeky wink. “Love ya, babe. Leaving now. Drive safe.”I echoed back her first words and watched her head towards the check-in counters before turning away and climbing back i

JadeBells was leaving today. It was the worst news I woke up to this morning and now I was driving to her hotel to pick her up and drop her off at the airport myself, so I could squeeze in a few more moments with her.“Jades, really?” she exclaimed in disbelief when she walked out of her hotel building with a bellhop behind her, eyeing my gleaming white Range Rover parked by the curb—a college graduation gift from my parents. “You’re going to get us into an accident.”I pushed up my oversized aviator sunglasses with a huff of indignation while rounding the car towards her. “Just because I failed my driver’s test twice in a row doesn’t mean I’m that terrible of a driver. I’m here in one piece, aren’t I?”“Calling an Uber is the only sensible option here,” she countered. “I know I have to pay for leaving so abruptly one way or another but does it have to be with my life?”I ignored her and nodded with a smile towards the bellhop to start loading up her luggage. She had no choice but to

Jade“I think that’s our decision to make, Mrs. Starling.” Julian smoothly stepped in now, answering on my behalf and effectively drying up her endless well of questions I was sure she still had in store for me.“Yes, of course,” she immediately relented, smiling her fake veneer smile. “I suppose you’re right.”“That’s reasonable, since you’re both still getting married eventually.” My dad nodded thoughtfully, trying to take over from her before she overcompensated. “What difference does it make whether it’s today or next year?”“Exactly.” I smiled at him in silent appreciation.“I guess we’re waiting for the lovebirds to call the shots then.” Richard announced with an obvious undertone of amusement, glancing at his wife for her input.“So it seems.” Celeste finally sighed then lifted her slim shoulders in a conceding shrug. “I don’t mind much though. As long as you already have a ring on your finger, I can wait.”“Thank you,” I said in a heartfelt tone, breathing easier now as I look

JadeThe soft clinking of cutlery against fine china filled the Davenports’ dining room.Julian was seated beside me, with my parents opposite us and Julian’s at the head of the table. They were making small talk about business amongst themselves while I was trying my best to seem normal, and not at all like my insides were churning like butter. We were pretending tonight. Julian had told me so moments before we stepped out of the car in front of his parents' house half an hour ago. That was why he was paying me more attention than usual; brushing off food crumbs from the corner of my mouth, smiling and talking to me in hushed intimate murmurs, filling up my wine glass without me having to ask.Celeste hadn’t stopped glancing our way with eyes of overflowing happiness.I too couldn’t help myself from getting carried away a little, even though I knew it was all an act.My mind wandered, imagining a time in the very near future when his affection towards me wouldn’t be fake. It would be

JadeBells waved, waited for him to disappear around the corner, before turning to me.“You know it wouldn’t be cheating if you had given out your number.”“Well, I wasn’t interested.”She tapped her chin with one long red nail then hummed. “Now that I think about it, you’ve never been interested. Never ever.”I sighed, aware she was talking about our university days and the numerous parties we attended. I had always been hit on, plenty of times in fact, but I never gave in to anyone.Rumors went around that I was either asexual or a giant prude. Only Bells and a few other close friends knew I was waiting to get engaged to Julian.“I can understand those times,” she continued. “Julian was like a god who could do no wrong in your heart compared to our silly mates who could never keep it in their pants. But now that you’re finally with him and he isn’t treating you the way you deserve to be treated, why are you still stubbornly remaining loyal to him?”I sucked on my straw as I went thr
