Chapter Seven- I Will Send Your Mom Over

I WILL SEND YOUR MOM OVER.

“ Is anything the matter? Don't you want to see your mom?” Karen asked worriedly since Layla didn’t show any excitement.

Layla lowered her head and asked, “ Is Damian downstairs too?”

“ Yes sweetheart, he is here with Kelvin, his best friend,” Karen answered.

“ He said we shouldn’t cross paths until we met at the altar” Layla explained her fears to Karen.

She didn’t see anything wrong with telling Karen. She was like a mother to her and she was also soft-hearted.

Karen became upset instantly. Damian was crossing the line and she didn’t like it at all. It felt like emotional abuse.

She squinted and asked,

“ Damian said that?”

“ yes”, Layla answered not knowing if it was the right thing to do.

Karen exhaled and said,

“ Alright, I will get rid of him, or better still, let me send your mom over” Since she wasn’t allowed to see Damian before the wedding it was perfect to send Isabella upstairs to her.

“ Thank you, Aunt Karen,” Layla smiled and said.

“ It's fine Layla, you can call me Mom okay?” Karen said.

“ It’s okay Mom, I will just have my shower then, thanks for everything on”. Layla smiled, she was already getting used to Karen.

Karen went downstairs and told Isabella to meet Layla upstairs while she excused Damian to have a conversation with him privately.

“ Why are you threatening the poor girl Damian?” Karen asked her son when they were away from people.

Damian looked surprised at her question and asked her back,

“ What threatMom?”

“ Why did you tell Layla not to cross paths with you again till you meet at the altar?” She questioned.

Damian laughed and said,

“ Oh about that, I was only jokingMom. I did not expect Layla to take it seriously”

Of course that was a lie, he was scared that Layla would change her mind again judging from the little display she did at the board meeting.

His mom felt a bit relieved. “ Ok, dear. But next time use a more appropriate term. She poor girl got it all wrong” she said and Damian nodded before excusing himself to join Kelvin and Kendra.

Karen loved her children so much but never hesitated to reprimand them whenever they did something wrong.

Back in Layla’s room, after Karen left, she had her shower and threw herself on the bed after dressing. It was so comfortable that she felt lazy to lift herself from it. She decided to call Ava and tell her about the change of plans.

Since it was just a week to her wedding, she was sure Damian will take the remaining days off to prepare too.

She dialed Ava’s number but it dropped immediately. She tried again and again but to no avail. Frustrated, she dropped the phone on the bed.

A few minutes later while she was still laying down on the bed, the door pushed open and her mom Isabella walked in.

“ Thank you so much, Layla, she said while pulling her in her arms,”

Isabella was feeling guilty that Layla had to go through the stress of marrying someone she barely loves just to clean up her mess and mistakes.

“ It’s okay Mom, I’m also doing this for me. I want you to stop feeling guiltyMom.” Layla said while wiping the tears that were flowing down from her eyes.

“ I will miss you so much, Layla,” Isabella added.

“ I will miss you tooMom”

The two spoke about the wedding and Isabella told Layla that she ordered her wedding gown and Karen will be taking her to the spa the next day.

They both wanted Layla to look beautiful and mature on her wedding day.

The Wilson family commanded class and respect in their city and Karen wanted the same for Layla.

She is going to become Mrs Layla Wilson in a few days and she must look like a Wilson.

Beautiful, classy, and filled with charisma.

It started raining and since Isabella did not come with her driver, she decided to take a nap in Layla’s room.

While she was fast asleep, Layla took her phone and tried calling Ava with it.

Luckily, it went through and her heart filled with joy.

At least she won’t be stuck with Damian for long if she updates Ava on everything.

“ Hello Ava,” Layla said, trying her best not to sound noisy so that her mom will not wake up.

Ava was very excited when she heard Layla’s voice,

“ Hello Layla, I kept trying your line but it wasn’t going through. Did anything happen to your phone?” Ava asked curiously. Now that Layla was in Damian’s house, her level of fear increased. She was scared that she would never get Damian back.

“ Yes, it broke but Aunt Karen gave me a new one”, Layla replied and Immediately, Ava knew her number had been tampered with on Layla’s phone.

Ava knew Damian was capable of doing anything.

Unfortunately, she can not tell Layla about her beef with Damian. If not she will lose her chances of getting him back and her plans will be ruined.

“ Listen, Layla, I need you to do something”

“ What?” Layla asked while sneak-peeking at her mom to check if she was awake already.

“ You have to sneak out of the house while everybody is asleep, bring your phone along”

Layla was instantly gripped with fear and asked In a low tone, “Isn’t it risky”

If she was caught going to meet Ava after Damian’s warning and also without informing Mrs Wilson or Kendra it wouldn’t speak well of her as the decent woman she was, especially after Kendra and her mom welcomed her well.

Ava swallowed her dismay and said,

“ Layla, I’m doing this because of you. I will be at the gate and as soon as you make it, I will come to get you, and don’t worry I will bring you back in an hour so nobody will notice.”

Seeing the length Ava had gone through just to help her annul this marriage, she couldn’t refuse her but when she remembered the security at the gate, A stink of adrenaline surged through her,

“ What about the security at the gate?” She asked.

“ Don’t worry, I will distract them,” Ava assured her.

“ Okay, be here by 9 pm,” Layla said.

Since she couldn’t reach Ava through her phone it was only right they both agreed on a particular time.

“9 pm is fine,” Ava said excitedly seeing that her plans were working out right.

“ See you soon,” Layla said and hung up.

“Who were you talking to?” A masculine and familiar voice asked and Layla prayed it wasn’t Damian’s.
