Rosa woke up first, blinking awake to find Pierce already watching her, his dark eyes warm and attentive.

"How long have you been awake?" she murmured, stretching.

"Not long. I was just... making sure you were real. That last night wasn't a dream."

She reached up and touched his face, her fingers tracing the strong line of his jaw. "I'm real. We're real. And we're going to be okay."

"Mommy! Daddy!" Elena's voice echoed from the corridor. "Can we go to the park today? Please, please, please?"

Marcus appeared in the doorway behind his sister, already dressed in his favorite superhero shirt. "Dad said maybe we could if you were feeling better, Mom."

Rosa sat up, pulling the covers around her. Despite everything, the terror, the possession, the violence, life was demanding to continue. Her children needed normalcy, needed to feel like the world was safe again.

"The park sounds perfect," she said, smiling at their excited faces.
