Part 6: Sherin's Escape Plan

"What?! That bastard didn't pick up your phone at all?!"

Sherin grimaced while covering her ears spontaneously after hearing the reaction of Erliza, her best friend. Although Sherin's face looked haggard, she looked at Erliza in exasperation because the screeching just now was truly deafening. Sherin had guessed how Erliza would react if she told her about Xavier not picking up his phone at all.

"Oh my! I know he's very popular. But how could he do that?" Erliza protested again, this time her tone was more normal than before.

Sherin lowered her hands from her ears with a listless expression. She didn't know how to answer Erliza's question. Because even until this moment Sherin still hadn't found a possible answer to Xavier's treatment.

"Did he really kick me out after what he did?" Sherin muttered confusedly. Her feelings were suddenly uncomfortable.

Erliza immediately looked at Sherin for a split second. Her eyes were burning with anger, like a wild animal preparing to eat its prey. But on the other hand, there was Erliza's compassion because she saw Sherin's current situation.

"Hey, did you really get kicked out of your house?" asked Erliza through a look that wanted to confirm.

Sherin nodded her head. She turned her gaze to Erliza. "Yes, right after my father told me to go far away, he also said he didn't want to see my face in that house."

"Aish..." Erliza winced at Sherin's story. "I didn't expect your life to be like this because of that jerk. You just got a job at a big company! That man is indeed-"

"Erliza, can you stop sulking? I'm the target of his actions. Why are you the one complaining so loudly?" Sherin asked through her annoyed tone.

Instantly Erliza fell silent with a guilty expression to Sherin. Erliza stopped talking after seeing Sherin looking upset at her.

"Why are you even upset with me?" Erliza muttered, grumbling slightly.

Sherin was speechless. In the end she just let out a breath of exasperation as she rolled her eyes. The current confusing situation made Sherin feel like she was on the edge. She was very, very pressured by all the incidents.

"Ah, I don't know. I don't understand the situation I'm in at all," Sherin said as she lowered her head and rubbed her face roughly.

Erliza watched Sherin who covered her face in shame. She stepped closer to the sofa beside Sherin, then sat down while leaning the left side of her body against the back of the sofa.

Erliza immediately reached out to grab one of Sherin's hands. Sherin's face almost fell and wavered because she lost the support of her chin in both palms.

As a result Sherin raised her face again and showed her annoyed expression to Erliza. Before Sherin could say anything, Erliza held up an index finger. Telling Sherin not to say anything first.

"Wait. Don't get angry," Erliza held her gaze at Sherin warningly. "Have you tried going to Xavier's office?"

"I went once, but that was before I found out I was pregnant with his child," Sherin explained. "That time I came to make sure he had kept his promise to take down all the news articles about me and him kissing in the nightclub."

"So, how did it go?" asked Erliza. Her sitting position changed to lean slightly towards Sherin.

Sherin had glanced at Erliza who looked very curious. But finally Sherin still answered.

"When I came, Xavier didn't want to see me. But he left a message through his confidant that he had made an appointment. And... indeed, the news article about me and him is no longer circulating."

Despite the explanation, for some reason Erliza still felt irritated. Erliza pressed her lips together and clenched her palms. Erliza immediately hit her own thigh using her clenched palm.

"He's still a jerk. He doesn't want to see you? How arrogant!" Erliza grumbled in exasperation.

Sherin looked at Erliza who was more fiery than she was. There was nothing Sherin could say at that moment. Among all the people who had thrown her away, now she only had Erliza. A few moments ago after Mark declared that he would not consider Sherin as his child, Sherin felt like her world was almost shattered.

But Erliza swiftly accepted Sherin's arrival. Erliza seemed not to think that Sherin already had a bad reputation. Various malicious comments were made by internet users on every news article about Sherin and Xavier. Without even waiting long, Sherin's social media accounts were attacked by Xavier's fans.

All of them said Sherin was a bitch.

They had no idea how things really were.

Sherin let out a rough sigh as she returned her gaze to the front. Her feelings and thoughts were still raging.

"I'm going to the village where my grandmother and grandfather live, Erliza," Sherin said suddenly.

Erliza was immediately surprised to hear Sherin's words. Her eyes looked at Sherin in disbelief. With a smile that implied she didn't believe Sherin, she shook her head. Denying.

"You're lying, right?" asked Erliza, making sure.

Without feeling guilty, Sherin shook her head.

"No, I'm not. Why would I lie?" Sherin asked then.

Erliza was dumbfounded. Instantly both her shoulders relaxed in disbelief.

"How could you think of such a plan?" Erliza asked.

Sherin smiled slightly. "My father told me to. He'll buy the tickets next week. Can you let me stay here until that day?"

For a few seconds Erliza still could not say anything. Her gaze remained intensely on Sherin as if she did not want to believe what she had just heard.

"You're going to leave me?" Erliza's tone changed dramatically.

Sherin chuckled as she tapped Erliza on the shoulder, reprimanding her.

"Why are you acting like that? I'm just going to leave for a while."

"Until when?"

"Until the baby is born. If Xavier wants to come see the baby, he can't come to me to do that."

"Sherin! Are you kidding me?!"
