Harris Family

“Put me down you bastard! Help! I’m getting kidnapped! Put me down! Somebody, help me!” Who the hell is this guy?! And what are my friends doing?! We are now out of the bar and no one dared to help me! Was this their plan? Am I getting kidnap?!

Even before I could think more absurd theories, the man in black suit shoves me inside a car. After he came in, I finally recognized my ‘kidnapper’

“Cameron?! What on earth do you think you’re doing?! I’m leaving!” Before I could open the door, my bodyguard puts a handcuff on my wrist. The other side is on his wrist, and it is obviously a prevention for me not to run away. “What the hell? Am I a criminal or what?!”

“Your grandfather wants you on the family dinner.” I scoffed. He really sent someone to ‘kidnap’ me from the party?!

“I thought you are my bodyguard? Aren’t you supposed to be protecting me and not kidnapping me? You’re supposed to take orders from me!”

“Sorry to break it to you, but I work for SH Holdings and I was just assigned to you. Yes, my priority is your safety, and I’m bringing you somewhere safer than the club; your home.”

“Home my ass! You mean the most ‘dangerous place’ right? Because my house is definitely more suited with that description. Get your facts straight mister.”

“Wear your shoes and fix yourself. You don’t want to be seen by your grandfather and father this messy, don’t you?”

“The hell you care?! You’re just a mere bodyguard!”

Why is everyone getting into my nerves today? Seriously, they are going to this extent just to bring me on that ‘family dinner’? What’s going on—OH MY GOSH! Is grandfather terminally ill and will give his last will and testament on tonight’s dinner?!

Oh, well, even if that’s the case it still doesn’t concern me since I’m not part of it, probably. After a few more minutes, we arrived in my family’s mansion.

“Ouch!” I yelled in, obviously, pain. Cameron was about to get off the car but he definitely forgot that he handcuffed me with his wrist. “Can you not be stupid?! You’re the one who placed this stupid handcuff yet you have the audacity to move recklessly like that?! Remove this!” As soon as he removed the handcuffs, I stormed off the car and slammed the car door.

I entered the mansion and was going to just walk to my room but this hero-wannabe grabbed my arms and pulled me to the dining room. Gosh! I want to kick this man’s ass but even before I could have the chance, I found myself standing in the dining room’s entrance receiving glares and stares from the rest of the family.

“Surprise?” That was so awkward! Why did I say that?! “Stop staring at me. Is it your first time to see someone beautiful like me?”

“Beautiful? You look like Stefano’s female version but not feminine enough.” Sylvester, my second brother next to Stefano, said while laughing. I smacked his head when I passed by him while walking towards my seat. I sat on the chair in the middle of him and Stefano. Well, as the oldest child I should be sitting in Stefano’s sit, but since I’m the black sheep and he’s the golden child, we ended up switching seats.

“It’s unlikely for you to send my bodyguard to pick me up from a party just for a family dinner. I’m even surprised that you noticed that I wasn’t around. So, what’s the deal?”

“When will you stop acting like a child, Savannah?” Was that even a question? Well, it is according to my grandfather.

“When you become young again?” I sarcastically said that while putting some salad on my plate; didn’t even bother to look at him.

“Savannah, can you have some manners?”

“Skyler, can you please pass me the salmon?” I looked at my father after receiving the salmon steak from my brother. “I said please, is that enough manners for you?” Yeah, I’m the black sheep but I can’t be the weak type; I’m a bitch living rent free. I even heard Sylvester chuckled. He probably saw the disbelief in our father’s face.

“Can you at least respect dad?” I scoffed as I turn my head to Stefano.

“Said by someone you can’t respect his older sister.”

“Now that’s bars,” Sylvester whispered, but I heard it anyway, and maybe the others did too.

“She slayed again.” This is why Skyler is my favorite brother.

“Respect is not given; it is earned by deserving people.”

“Exactly! I’m surprised you know that, Stefano! I have been playing that game since day one, and all of you are just so bad at it that is why you never gained my respect. Well, except for mom and Skyler though.”

“Aw! That hurts.” I turned to Sylvester who is disgustingly pouting.

“Stop pouting. I don’t hate you, but try a bit harder. You’re close to gaining that.”

“What’s good about earning your respect, anyway?” Was that supposed to be a question or an indirect insult? Because I’m taking it as the second option.

“Same question to you, Stefano. What’s good about earning your respect?” He was going to answer but the old man slammed the table which made us silent.

“Stop insulting the foods in the table! Give some respect!”

“What? I didn’t say anything about the food. If there is something I respect more than you it’s the salmon and the pork ribs. It’s tasty.”

“Savannah!” I just shrugged off my father and took a bite of the pork ribs. I was just stating facts, I respect the pork ribs for being this tasty.

“So, Savannah, before you came, we were talking about your marriage with Brian—”

“Can I have a glass of orange juice?” I said to the maid. I noticed them staring at me so I acted clueless. “What?” But of course, I know what I did, I just cut offed my grandfather’s none sense talking.

“As I was saying, we were talking about your marriage with Brian,” he continued like nothing happened.

“Who’s Brian? Oh! Brian Wright? From Cosmic Corporation? You want me to marry that jerk? If you want a business merging between Cosmic Corporation and SH Holdings, why don’t you marry him yourself?”

“That’s it! I’m done with your disrespectfulness Savannah! Go to your room!”

“No need to tell me dad, I’m leaving anyways.” I stood up from my sit and turned back to leave. “Bring the rest of my food upstairs.” I commanded the maid without looking back.

I heard dad talking to mom before I can totally exit the room.

“She turned out to be like this because you spoiled her too much!” I turned back and clenched my fists trying to calm myself down.

“Dad, if there’s someone who’s at fault about my attitude, it’s not mom because it’s you. I turned out to be like this because you never welcomed me in this family. You never treated me as your child, not even once.” I turned around and stormed off.

Marriage? With Brian? Swear to all deities that it would never happen!

I immediately jumped to my bed to lay down. As soon as I open my phone, a bunch of text messages started popping. It was all from my friends asking me what I happened. They also explained that they recognized my bodyguard that is why they didn’t help me or stop him.
