FIFTY – FINDING HIS WOMAN

"What do you mean by she disappeared?" I grip the edges of my desk as I shoot Agent Morris a glare, trying to contain the rage that burns in my veins.

He lowers his head, looking ashamed for the first time since I have ever known him.

"I left her in the gardens earlier to restructure the CCTV footages. When I came back, she was gone."

I feel lethal, venomous anger try to crawl its way up my throat, so I sit back down in my chair, using my table as a cage. If I act out now, I could regret it later.

"You had one job." I begin, my voice portraying a calmness I do not feel, "one fucking job. You were supposed to shadow a god-damned female for chrissakes. And you failed."

Agent Morris quickly adds,

" I have my men scouting the savannah for her, sir. She will be found in no time. I assure you."

In a flash, and a blind burst of rage, I lift the heavy, ceramic penholder on my table and fling it in his direction.

His fast reflexes save him. The penholder shatters on the wall, and falls
