SEVEN – PAIN AND LUST

MASON

The room is pitch dark and completely silent. The only audible sounds are the loud, chopped sounds of her breathing.

"Let me go, p-please."

Her voice breaks and panic shoots through my veins. I reach up quickly and flip on the overhead lights. The room is sound proof so no one can hear her cries for help from the outside.

I spin around and the sight that greets me sends my heart crashing against my chest.

She sits folded on the marble floors, her arms wrapped tightly around her legs. I propel in her direction and fall to my knees before her.

She is shaking uncontrollably. I place a hand on her shoulder and her eyes snap to mine, wild and probing, yet unseeing.

Her shoulders tremble beneath my palm and her eyes are glazed over.

For moment, she looks so tiny, so fragile…so hurt, I feel the stirrings of anger in my veins.

My fingers clench into fists. Someone hurt her and by God, that someone will pay.

"Mira? Mira can you hear me?"
