Alicia's car pulled up in front of the hospital, she was so nervous that she could barely sleep last night, and the minute the sun came out, she got ready quickly and drove down to the hospital.
Adams had no idea that she even took this test, she woke up one morning feeling so sick, and all her symptoms were the signs of pregnancy, she even googled most of the things to be sure and even though what she thought was confirmed, she didn't want to get her hopes up only for it to come shattering again.
She had secretly gone to the hospital and explained everything to her Doctor, but the Doctor had then told her to take a test before they could conclude on anything at all, and although she was skeptical about it at first that it even took a lot of talking to convince her to take the pregnancy test.
She waited in her car for some time as she tried to calm her beating heart. When she calmed down, she finally came out of the car and went inside the hospital. She was already familiar with the place and knew where the Doctor's office was, so she didn't bother talking to the receptionists and simply made her way to the Doctor's office.
When she arrived, she placed a knock on the door and was ushered in. When the doctor saw her, she smiled brightly at her.
“Welcome Mrs. Alicia, please take a seat.”
“Thank you Doc.” Alicia replied before sitting down.
When she was seated, the Doctor looked at her for sometime before speaking. “Are you ready for the results, Mrs. Alicia?” She asked.
Alicia didn't reply at first in fact, her nervousness was as clear as daylight and you could clearly see her trembling.
“Please relax, Mrs. Alicia, take all the time you need, I'm ready when you are.” The Doctor said softly.
Alicia heaved a deep breath then shut her eyes briefly, and then she reopened them. “I'm ready now, Doctor, please show me the results.” She replied.
The Doctor then opened her drawer and brought out a white envelope, which she then gave to Alicia.
“I wouldn't want to ruin the moment, so I think it's best you get to see the results for yourself first.” The Doctor said, making her feel even more nervous and anxious.
Alicia swallowed nothing, her heart was pounding so hard that she could swear anyone would have been able to hear it, even the doctor.
After what felt like ages, she finally summoned enough courage to open up the envelope, she brought out the paper inside and slowly opened it. She read through and what she saw made her jaw drop in shock, in fact, she even froze in her seat.
Seeing her reaction only made the Doctor smile, she had expected her to react the way she just did.
"D... Doctor, I…I think there's got to be some mistake somewhere, this can't be true, right, it's so obvious that I'm dreaming right now.” She stuttered, still staring at the result with tears in her eyes and being unable to believe what she's staring at.
“This isn't a dream Mrs. Alicia, this is real, the result is real. You're two months pregnant, Mrs. Alicia!'' The Doctor replied, bubbling with excitement.
Alicia covered her mouth with her right palm, she had uncontrollably tears rolling down her cheeks. She stood up, still staring at the result in her hand.
“This isn't a dream Doctor, this isn't a dream, I'm actually pregnant, I'm two months pregnant!” She half yelled in happiness.
“Congratulations Mrs. Alicia, I'm really happy for you, your prayers have finally been answered.”
“Thank you so much, Doctor, thank you so much.” She cried, then she hurriedly went over, and the Doctor also stood up to give her a hug.
Alicia hugged the Doctor tightly, while crying and thanking her profusely.
The Doctor kept on congratulating her and assuring her that it was alright. When Alicia was calm, she pulled away from the hug.
“I…I should tell Adams about this, I bet his joy will know no bounds when he hears this news.” She squealed in excitement.
“I wish you all the best, Mrs. Alicia.”
“Thank you so much, Doctor.” Alicia replied, she hugged the Doctor once more before leaving.
When she got outside the hospital, she tried calling Adams, but he wasn't taking any of her calls. She wasn't surprised by this though, it's been like that ever since he totally changed towards her, but she was now sure that their marriage will finally return to normal by the time she breaks this news to him.
Now she won't be called names anymore, she won't be called barren by anyone. Her happiness knew no bounds, she was over the moon with joy and all she wanted was to share this great news with Adams, their dreams have been fulfilled, they're going to be parents!
She hurriedly got into her car and drove off. When she got home, Adams was nowhere to be found, and she knew he's gone to work. She was impatient to break the news to him and could barely contain her excitement, but she knew she had to wait for him to return, so she could break the news to him.
She tried calling him once more, but he didn't pick up.
Alicia finally gave up trying to reach him on the phone and simply just waited for him to return.
Time suddenly felt like it was going really slow and when it was finally time for Adams to return home, she rushed out of her room with the results in her hand to go wait for him downstairs.
She didn't even sit, she only paced around, and she couldn't even take her eyes off the door. When Adams finally walked in, she rushed to him.
“Adams I—”
“Before you say anything, you should hear me out first.” He rudely cut her off with a straight face.
“Why don't you hear me out first, you won't believe what I have to tell you, why don't you see for yourself, I bet you'll be so happy too.” She replied with a smile. She tried showing him the results, but he only waved her off.
“I don't care about what you have to say, nothing you have to say is as important as what I have!” He snapped.
“What? W…what do you mean?” She stuttered, her excitement slowly dying down.
He opened his briefcase and brought out some documents, then he handed the documents to her, still having that straight face.
“W…what's this Adams?” Alicia asked, her heart racing so fast.
The next words he said broke her completely, and those words would forever leave a scar on her heart.
“I'm done with this marriage, Alicia, I've had it with you!”
“These are the divorce papers….”
“I want a divorce!”
Alicia stood frozen, she couldn't believe her ears, it's like she didn't hear him clearly.“W…what? A divorce?” She asked, to be sure she heard correctly. “You can't be serious about this, Adams, tell me you're joking, please tell me you don't mean this.” She pleaded, tears rolling down her cheeks.“I'm damn serious about this, Alicia, I'm done with this goddamn marriage! Done having a disgrace like you for a wife! I'm so done and tired with everything! You hear me, Alicia, I'm done!” He yelled, and she flinched. In their three years of marriage, Alicia had never seen him this angry before, she couldn't even recognize the man standing in front of her.“You can't do this to me, Adams! Not after everything we've been through together, are you simply going to throw all that away, are you going to forget everything just like that? All because you believe I'm barren,” She cried. “I can take all your silent treatments towards me, I can even take the cold shoulders you give me, but this? A d
It took a few days for Adams and Alicia's divorce to finally be finalized, and Alicia had to wait until the divorce was finalized before she could leave Adams home.On the day that she was finally leaving, the joy Adams felt knew no bounds, he was supposed to go to work that day, but he didn't, and it was all because he wanted to watch her leave, the woman he considered a disgrace and shame. As Alicia struggled to bring down her suitcase, Adams was just standing at the door watching her every move, he was impatient to see her leave his home and kept on clicking his tongue in discomfort due to the time she was taking in bringing her suitcase down.“Can you just hurry already!” He snapped. “How long will it take for you to finally get yourself out of here!?” He questioned with an eye roll.Alicia heaved a deep breath, it wasn't like her suitcase was that heavy, but the little act alone seemed to have tired her out. She waited a while to catch her breath before finally bringing it down.
Adams totally forgot about the main reason he came to the hospital in the first place, at this point his flu wasn't even important anymore. He had hurriedly left the Doctor's office and was now outside, standing beside his car.“A…Alicia is pregnant, Alicia was carrying my child.” He kept on repeating, while struggling to breathe at the same time. He placed his hand on his chest, then he bent down a little as he tried to catch his breath.Everything started coming to him in waves, he then remembered what happened the night he gave her the divorce papers. When he walked into the house, he was surprised to see her waiting for him with a huge smile on her face, and it was visible that she was excited about something, but he didn't seem to care then and was only concerned about getting rid of her.He remembered how she had wanted to tell him something and was even holding a paper, but he rudely waved her off and presented the divorce papers to her instead. Even after all the things he sai
"No Mike, that can't be true, she can't be gone, she just can't!" Adams replied, refusing to believe the information Mike has just told him."I'm sorry Adams, but that's just the truth, Alicia already left this city and no one can blame her for that, not after what happened.""This isn't the time to judge me Mike, I need to find Alicia, you must do everything possible to find out where she traveled to. I can't let her go Mike, I just can't.""Do you even hear yourself Adams? Well I'm sorry to say this but locating her is going to be impossible, I would have asked you to wait and see if she's ever going to return but then what's the possibility that she's ever going to come back to this country."Adams heaved a deep breath, then he slowly sat on his bed, he was starting to have a terrible headache and his conscience was now eating him up, he blames himself for everything and if only he could just turn back the hands of time, he's more than willing to change everything, he's never going

Adams abruptly stood up from his seat. "Where did you get this from?" He asked, not taking his eyes off the flier in his hand.Mike had a huge smile on his face, he was still bubbling with excitement. "On my way to work, I saw some people handing this fliers out and there was also a huge banner on display, I was going to look away but the name caught my attention, I couldn't even recognize her at first Adams, if it weren't for her name.""She's changed a lot Mike, she looks so different and...." He trailed."Successful." Mike finished and Adams nodded in reply."When is this event taking place? I can't wait to see her, I really need to see her.""It's in a week's time Adams and also, there's something else you should know about." Mike replied and that made Adams look at him."What's it?" He asked.Mike fetched his phone from his pocket first. "After seeing this, I couldn't resist making a research about her and I also saw this...." He showed a picture to Adams.Adams eyes widen in sho
Adams car pulled up in the hall where the event was taking place, when he got down, he heaved a deep breath before going in. When Adams went in, he was shocked to see so much people in attendance, the crowd in the hall was just too much, he tried his possible best to sight Alicia, but he couldn't see her anywhere and that made him groan in frustration, there's no way he's going to find her with this much crowd in the hall.Soon, a man came up stage and asked everyone to settle down, which they did, he gave his speech which took longer than Adams had expected, in fact, none of what the man was saying was even entering his head, all he wants is to see Alicia, nothing else taking place here concerns him at all. When the man was finally done giving his speech, Adam sighed in relief, soon, the man mentioned Alicia's name and the sole reason for this event, the mention of her name alone made the crowd go wild and it took a whole lot to get them to calm down, when they were calm, the man f
When Alicia got home, she stayed in her car for a little while as she tried to calm herself down, she was still feeling so angry about her encounter with Adams and she wouldn't want to take that anger inside and see her daughter with it.Adams words about trying to make things right rang in her ears and she scoffed bitterly."That damn man!" She spat while hitting the car steering with her palm. She couldn't even believe his guts, after everything he and his parents put her through, he still has the audacity to come to her and tell her trash about being sorry and wanting to set things right!"Sorry? Sorry!?" She laughed bitterly. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me Adams, you've really got to be kidding me, sorry my foot! Do you really think sorry can solve everything? Ha!" She hissed. "I pray I never get to see you again Adams, never ever!" She placed her head on the steering and took countless of deep breath. She forced herself to forget about her encounter with Adams, and one thing sh
