Alicia stood frozen, she couldn't believe her ears, it's like she didn't hear him clearly.
“W…what? A divorce?” She asked, to be sure she heard correctly. “You can't be serious about this, Adams, tell me you're joking, please tell me you don't mean this.” She pleaded, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“I'm damn serious about this, Alicia, I'm done with this goddamn marriage! Done having a disgrace like you for a wife! I'm so done and tired with everything! You hear me, Alicia, I'm done!” He yelled, and she flinched.
In their three years of marriage, Alicia had never seen him this angry before, she couldn't even recognize the man standing in front of her.
“You can't do this to me, Adams! Not after everything we've been through together, are you simply going to throw all that away, are you going to forget everything just like that? All because you believe I'm barren,” She cried. “I can take all your silent treatments towards me, I can even take the cold shoulders you give me, but this? A divorce? No Adams, I can't take this, so please don't do this to me. I know this isn't you Adams, you're simply following your parents' words, please don't do this to me, Adams.” She tried going close to him, but he roughly pushed her away, if she hadn't maintained her balance, she would have fallen.
“Don't you dare touch me with those filthy hands of yours!” He snapped, his voice boomed with so much rage and hate. “You think my parents put me up to this? What do you take me for? A mommy or daddy's boy?” He scoffed in disgust.
“No one is putting me up to this, Alicia, this is the right thing to do, I can't continue having a useless woman like you for a wife. You're of no use to me Alicia, and that's the reason I'm ending this stupid marriage of ours, I really shouldn't have gotten married to you in the first place! If I had known that you were barren, then I wouldn't have married you, let alone looked your way in the first place.”
“Adams!” Alicia screamed in tears. “You have no idea what you're saying, I'm not barren Adams, so please stop saying that. I'm actually car—”
“Enough!” He rudely cut her off. “Nothing you say will change my mind, I've decided to get rid of you and that's it!" He snapped.
“You have no idea how much I despise you Alicia, I sincerely want nothing to do with you anymore, you're nothing but a gold digger, and you're only depending on my wealth. My mother was right when she called you bad luck because you're truly surrounded by nothing but negative energy and that's why you can't even make single progress in your own career!''
“Your damn career went downhill, and it's all because of you and your bad luck, now you're trying to transfer your bad energy to me. Before you even dream of making me lose everything, I'm going to get rid of you first, it's your bad luck that has caused you to be barren, and a barren woman is of no use to a man like me.”
“You're nothing but a failure, Alicia! And you've failed in every area of your life, as a wife and even as an author! You're a failure Alicia, you hear me? A failure!”
This was the limit to everything Alicia can take, these words got her pissed and she yelled back at him.
“Enough!” She yelled, all traces of pain gone, only to now be replaced by a burning feeling of rage.
“That's enough Adams!” She stated firmly. “I've been enduring everything for so long now, even the insults your parents throw at me, but this is the limit to all I can take!” She yelled. “I won't let you insult my career and call me a failure, no, Adams! You have no right at all to call me that. You think I've failed in my career, but you're wrong, and if you think I'm with you for your stupid wealth, then you're wrong too, and I'm going to prove it to you, Adams,” She said with gritted teeth.
“I'm going to show you that I can be successful without you in my life. I don't need you, Adams, you hear me! I don't need a wicked and heartless man like you, and you don't even deserve anything good in your life! I hate you so much, Adams, I hate you with every fiber of my being and if it's a stupid divorce you want, then I'm going to give it to you.”
“Let's end this charade and go our separate ways. I will sign the damn papers, so you can live your life in peace." She yelled in tears, breathing heavily.
Her eyes were getting red, and her face puffy, even her tears had soaked her shirt. Despite the heater in the room, she still felt so cold; so cold and broken.
“Good, the sooner you sign it the better.” Adams replied, and with that, he left, not sparing her a single glance.
When he was gone, Alicia staggered towards the couch and collapsed on it. She took some time to reflect on numerous things and her life as well.
Adam's hurtful words kept on ringing in her ears, filling her with even more pain and anger, she's never been this hurt or broken before. The marriage she's been trying her best to keep together has finally come crashing before her very own eyes, the thing she feared the most has finally happened and there was nothing she could do about it.
Adams doesn't deserve her, a vile and evil man like him doesn't even deserve happiness or be told that he's going to become a father. His actions today gave her every reason not to tell him about her pregnancy, she's not going to tell him about this, her baby deserves better, her baby deserves a good father and Adams was far from being one.
In anger, she stood up and went to pick up the divorce papers from the floor, as well as the pregnancy results which had also fallen from her hand. She ran upstairs to her room and searched for a pen, which she was lucky to find.
She stared at the divorce papers in her hand, feeling so reluctant to sign them, but everything she's been forced to go through in the hands of Adams and his parents, including all the insults she's been receiving, came flooding into her head and that gave her the courage she needed to sign those papers.
Without a second thought, she signed the divorce papers and that was when it became clear to her that everything was finally over.
Her marriage with Adams has finally come to an end.
It's all over.
The door to the wedding hall opened and all heads turned to look at Alicia, she also couldn't believe that there would be so much people in attendance. The path she would walk had flowers on it and the one who had done that was Diane since she was the made the flower girl. Alicia looked at Adams and she couldn't help but smile, Mr Antonio was right beside her, he was going to walk her down the isle. As he walked her down the isle, everyone began clapping and cheering so loudly. Adams couldn't hold back his tears, his eyes was fixed on Alicia alone, she looked so beautiful and it could only make him realize how lucky he was to have such a woman by his side, they've been through so much together, there's been so many ups and downs, so many obstacles but those challenges had only made them closer and their love stronger. He was so thankful when he proposed to her and she accepted, he had foolishly let a jewel like her go once, but he's never ever going to do that again, this time he's
The first place the police went to search for Ashton was his home, when they arrived they couldn't find him anywhere, then they began searching all the rooms.Meanwhile, Evie who was tied up and locked in Ashton's closet began making muffling screams, alerting the police that were in his room, they hurriedly went to open the closet and were shocked to find a woman tied up in there. The police loosed the rope Ashton had used to tie up her hands and then removed the tape from her mouth.Evie couldn't stop crying and pleading for the police to save her."It's alright Ma'am, you're safe now, you're safe now." The head officer assured her, he then went on to ask her who she was and why she was being locked up in there. When Evie mentioned her name, it instantly ringed a bell. "Evie Blair?" The officer questioned, just to be sure he heard correctly."Yes officer, my name's Evie Blair and I..." Evie trailed when she noticed the look the head officer gave to the other officer beside him."W..
The police has been questioning Adams, asking him about the location of Alicia but he kept on telling them that he doesn't know, they even threatened to torture him so they can get the truth out of him, but Adams words never changed no matter what they said to him.One of the officers interrogating him got so frustrated and was about torturing him when another officer interrupted them, he told them that they just got a tip about Alicia's whereabouts and that she's in Adams company, locked in his office. On hearing this, the officers glared dangerously at Adams. "So that's where you've been keeping her huh? Locked away in your office thinking no one will ever find her right?""W... what?" Adams stuttered in disbelief. He tried speaking with the police, but the wouldn't hear him out, they forced him up and took him back to his cell, telling him to pray hard that nothing bad happens to Alicia otherwise he will regret it for the rest of his life. The police hurriedly drove to Adams compan
When Ashton left Adams company, he went straight to the police station to lodge a complaint about Alicia missing, he also showed them a text he claimed she sent him, telling him that she was in trouble and that he should come help her. He accused Adams of being the one who kidnapped Alicia and pleaded with the police to save her before Adams does something bad to her. With the evidence he provided and the police knowing that Alicia was a renowned author, they swung into action immediately and went in search of Adams first, not caring about his status in the country. The police went to Adams mansion to look for him but there was no sign of him or anyone at home, just when they were about to leave, Adams car drove in, he and Mike were both confused when they saw the police at his home. They stopped him halfway into his home and asked him to get down from his car, pointing their guns at him and warning him not to try anything otherwise they would be forced to shoot at him."What the hel
It was getting dark, everyone who attended May's funeral had left, Adams stayed back with Mike for a little while longer because Mike wasn't ready to leave then, but now he was, he thought Alicia would be back by now since she's been gone for too long and there's no sign of her anywhere."I'll go look for Alicia, she's meant to have been back by now." Adams said to Mike.Mike nods in reply. "I'll be right here." He said and then he took a sit beside May's grave. Adams looked at him for sometime, he felt so sorry for his best friend, he heaved a deep breath and went to look for Alicia.Adams searched the whole area, he even called out to her but still nothing, he couldn't find her anywhere and that's when he began to panic. He searched everywhere he could but still couldn't find her, in fear he ran back to Mike."I...I can't find Alicia anywhere." He said, breathing heavily."What?" Mike asked as he instantly stood up. "What do you mean you can't find her anywhere?" "I can't find her
Today's May's funeral. Alicia couldn't believe how many people from her work place attended her funeral, each and everyone of them all had nice things to say about her, evidence of how kind she was and how she's lived a good life.Alicia, Mike and Adams all stood in front of her grave holding flowers in their hands, they couldn't bring Diane along so they had her stay with Adams parents. While they both tried to be strong for the sake of Mike, Mike couldn't stop crying. Alicia dropped her flower on May's grave then she told Adams that she needs some time alone, she asked him to be with Mike and that she'll be back once she feels better. Adams understood that she needed sometime alone and simply let her leave.Alicia took a little walk, she went somewhere a bit far from where May's funeral was being held, when she was alone, she was able to let out all her emotions, every memory about May flooded through her head, causing her so much pain and making her weep bitterly. "I'm so sorry Ma
