Alicia stood frozen, she couldn't believe her ears, it's like she didn't hear him clearly.
“W…what? A divorce?” She asked, to be sure she heard correctly. “You can't be serious about this, Adams, tell me you're joking, please tell me you don't mean this.” She pleaded, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“I'm damn serious about this, Alicia, I'm done with this goddamn marriage! Done having a disgrace like you for a wife! I'm so done and tired with everything! You hear me, Alicia, I'm done!” He yelled, and she flinched.
In their three years of marriage, Alicia had never seen him this angry before, she couldn't even recognize the man standing in front of her.
“You can't do this to me, Adams! Not after everything we've been through together, are you simply going to throw all that away, are you going to forget everything just like that? All because you believe I'm barren,” She cried. “I can take all your silent treatments towards me, I can even take the cold shoulders you give me, but this? A divorce? No Adams, I can't take this, so please don't do this to me. I know this isn't you Adams, you're simply following your parents' words, please don't do this to me, Adams.” She tried going close to him, but he roughly pushed her away, if she hadn't maintained her balance, she would have fallen.
“Don't you dare touch me with those filthy hands of yours!” He snapped, his voice boomed with so much rage and hate. “You think my parents put me up to this? What do you take me for? A mommy or daddy's boy?” He scoffed in disgust.
“No one is putting me up to this, Alicia, this is the right thing to do, I can't continue having a useless woman like you for a wife. You're of no use to me Alicia, and that's the reason I'm ending this stupid marriage of ours, I really shouldn't have gotten married to you in the first place! If I had known that you were barren, then I wouldn't have married you, let alone looked your way in the first place.”
“Adams!” Alicia screamed in tears. “You have no idea what you're saying, I'm not barren Adams, so please stop saying that. I'm actually car—”
“Enough!” He rudely cut her off. “Nothing you say will change my mind, I've decided to get rid of you and that's it!" He snapped.
“You have no idea how much I despise you Alicia, I sincerely want nothing to do with you anymore, you're nothing but a gold digger, and you're only depending on my wealth. My mother was right when she called you bad luck because you're truly surrounded by nothing but negative energy and that's why you can't even make single progress in your own career!''
“Your damn career went downhill, and it's all because of you and your bad luck, now you're trying to transfer your bad energy to me. Before you even dream of making me lose everything, I'm going to get rid of you first, it's your bad luck that has caused you to be barren, and a barren woman is of no use to a man like me.”
“You're nothing but a failure, Alicia! And you've failed in every area of your life, as a wife and even as an author! You're a failure Alicia, you hear me? A failure!”
This was the limit to everything Alicia can take, these words got her pissed and she yelled back at him.
“Enough!” She yelled, all traces of pain gone, only to now be replaced by a burning feeling of rage.
“That's enough Adams!” She stated firmly. “I've been enduring everything for so long now, even the insults your parents throw at me, but this is the limit to all I can take!” She yelled. “I won't let you insult my career and call me a failure, no, Adams! You have no right at all to call me that. You think I've failed in my career, but you're wrong, and if you think I'm with you for your stupid wealth, then you're wrong too, and I'm going to prove it to you, Adams,” She said with gritted teeth.
“I'm going to show you that I can be successful without you in my life. I don't need you, Adams, you hear me! I don't need a wicked and heartless man like you, and you don't even deserve anything good in your life! I hate you so much, Adams, I hate you with every fiber of my being and if it's a stupid divorce you want, then I'm going to give it to you.”
“Let's end this charade and go our separate ways. I will sign the damn papers, so you can live your life in peace." She yelled in tears, breathing heavily.
Her eyes were getting red, and her face puffy, even her tears had soaked her shirt. Despite the heater in the room, she still felt so cold; so cold and broken.
“Good, the sooner you sign it the better.” Adams replied, and with that, he left, not sparing her a single glance.
When he was gone, Alicia staggered towards the couch and collapsed on it. She took some time to reflect on numerous things and her life as well.
Adam's hurtful words kept on ringing in her ears, filling her with even more pain and anger, she's never been this hurt or broken before. The marriage she's been trying her best to keep together has finally come crashing before her very own eyes, the thing she feared the most has finally happened and there was nothing she could do about it.
Adams doesn't deserve her, a vile and evil man like him doesn't even deserve happiness or be told that he's going to become a father. His actions today gave her every reason not to tell him about her pregnancy, she's not going to tell him about this, her baby deserves better, her baby deserves a good father and Adams was far from being one.
In anger, she stood up and went to pick up the divorce papers from the floor, as well as the pregnancy results which had also fallen from her hand. She ran upstairs to her room and searched for a pen, which she was lucky to find.
She stared at the divorce papers in her hand, feeling so reluctant to sign them, but everything she's been forced to go through in the hands of Adams and his parents, including all the insults she's been receiving, came flooding into her head and that gave her the courage she needed to sign those papers.
Without a second thought, she signed the divorce papers and that was when it became clear to her that everything was finally over.
Her marriage with Adams has finally come to an end.
It's all over.
It took a few days for Adams and Alicia's divorce to finally be finalized, and Alicia had to wait until the divorce was finalized before she could leave Adams home.On the day that she was finally leaving, the joy Adams felt knew no bounds, he was supposed to go to work that day, but he didn't, and it was all because he wanted to watch her leave, the woman he considered a disgrace and shame. As Alicia struggled to bring down her suitcase, Adams was just standing at the door watching her every move, he was impatient to see her leave his home and kept on clicking his tongue in discomfort due to the time she was taking in bringing her suitcase down.“Can you just hurry already!” He snapped. “How long will it take for you to finally get yourself out of here!?” He questioned with an eye roll.Alicia heaved a deep breath, it wasn't like her suitcase was that heavy, but the little act alone seemed to have tired her out. She waited a while to catch her breath before finally bringing it down.
Adams totally forgot about the main reason he came to the hospital in the first place, at this point his flu wasn't even important anymore. He had hurriedly left the Doctor's office and was now outside, standing beside his car.“A…Alicia is pregnant, Alicia was carrying my child.” He kept on repeating, while struggling to breathe at the same time. He placed his hand on his chest, then he bent down a little as he tried to catch his breath.Everything started coming to him in waves, he then remembered what happened the night he gave her the divorce papers. When he walked into the house, he was surprised to see her waiting for him with a huge smile on her face, and it was visible that she was excited about something, but he didn't seem to care then and was only concerned about getting rid of her.He remembered how she had wanted to tell him something and was even holding a paper, but he rudely waved her off and presented the divorce papers to her instead. Even after all the things he sai
"No Mike, that can't be true, she can't be gone, she just can't!" Adams replied, refusing to believe the information Mike has just told him."I'm sorry Adams, but that's just the truth, Alicia already left this city and no one can blame her for that, not after what happened.""This isn't the time to judge me Mike, I need to find Alicia, you must do everything possible to find out where she traveled to. I can't let her go Mike, I just can't.""Do you even hear yourself Adams? Well I'm sorry to say this but locating her is going to be impossible, I would have asked you to wait and see if she's ever going to return but then what's the possibility that she's ever going to come back to this country."Adams heaved a deep breath, then he slowly sat on his bed, he was starting to have a terrible headache and his conscience was now eating him up, he blames himself for everything and if only he could just turn back the hands of time, he's more than willing to change everything, he's never going

Adams abruptly stood up from his seat. "Where did you get this from?" He asked, not taking his eyes off the flier in his hand.Mike had a huge smile on his face, he was still bubbling with excitement. "On my way to work, I saw some people handing this fliers out and there was also a huge banner on display, I was going to look away but the name caught my attention, I couldn't even recognize her at first Adams, if it weren't for her name.""She's changed a lot Mike, she looks so different and...." He trailed."Successful." Mike finished and Adams nodded in reply."When is this event taking place? I can't wait to see her, I really need to see her.""It's in a week's time Adams and also, there's something else you should know about." Mike replied and that made Adams look at him."What's it?" He asked.Mike fetched his phone from his pocket first. "After seeing this, I couldn't resist making a research about her and I also saw this...." He showed a picture to Adams.Adams eyes widen in sho
Adams car pulled up in the hall where the event was taking place, when he got down, he heaved a deep breath before going in. When Adams went in, he was shocked to see so much people in attendance, the crowd in the hall was just too much, he tried his possible best to sight Alicia, but he couldn't see her anywhere and that made him groan in frustration, there's no way he's going to find her with this much crowd in the hall.Soon, a man came up stage and asked everyone to settle down, which they did, he gave his speech which took longer than Adams had expected, in fact, none of what the man was saying was even entering his head, all he wants is to see Alicia, nothing else taking place here concerns him at all. When the man was finally done giving his speech, Adam sighed in relief, soon, the man mentioned Alicia's name and the sole reason for this event, the mention of her name alone made the crowd go wild and it took a whole lot to get them to calm down, when they were calm, the man f
When Alicia got home, she stayed in her car for a little while as she tried to calm herself down, she was still feeling so angry about her encounter with Adams and she wouldn't want to take that anger inside and see her daughter with it.Adams words about trying to make things right rang in her ears and she scoffed bitterly."That damn man!" She spat while hitting the car steering with her palm. She couldn't even believe his guts, after everything he and his parents put her through, he still has the audacity to come to her and tell her trash about being sorry and wanting to set things right!"Sorry? Sorry!?" She laughed bitterly. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me Adams, you've really got to be kidding me, sorry my foot! Do you really think sorry can solve everything? Ha!" She hissed. "I pray I never get to see you again Adams, never ever!" She placed her head on the steering and took countless of deep breath. She forced herself to forget about her encounter with Adams, and one thing sh
May placed her hand on Alicia's shoulder and made Alicia face her. "Are you being serious?" She asked. Alicia sighed, then she stood up and began pacing in front of May."You have no idea how seeing him was enough to ruin my precious evening, why the hell did he choose to show up now huh!?" She spat, her anger slowly rising once more, she balled her fist as she felt a strong urge to punch Adams right in his damn face.May stood up and went to pat her back. "Just try to relax okay, what was he even doing there?""He came to see me, he mentioned being sorry and wanting to make things right!" She replied in a sarcastic manner. "Yeah right, like it's all so easy, I can't believe the guts of that man! After all these years he shows up in my face and all he could say was sorry! Sorry? Like one sorry from him could fix the whole goddamn thing, he has no idea of what I've been through and how he and his parents ruined things for me and made my life so miserable." She raised her head up in ord
