CHAPTER 5 - Who is she?

 

Liam, and Blake walked down the hallway as they heard towards the meeting room, Blake’s personal assistant behind them.

 

The meeting room was filled with employees that were presenting today. He had announced a competition among the employees.

 

The competition was about coming up with a proposal for one of their clients, and whoever came up with the best idea will be promoted.

 

Everyone jumped on the idea and the day was finally here. ZEDD tech ltd is one of the most employee friendly technology companies in the world, and it is the dream of almost every technology student to work there because they are always provided the opportunity to learn and grow.

 

Business has not been good lately for Liam as they had lost 3 deals consecutively, so he knew that they had to get this next deal no matter what.

 

Despite this, though, Liam still couldn’t get the girl he danced with last night out of his head.

 

“Focus man, the future of your company relies on this” he told himself.

 

He listened to his employees present, but he was most attentive when it got to Edwin’s turn. He knew that Edwin was over qualified to be just a personal assistant, but that was the only possible that was available when he applied for a position at ZEDD tech.

 

Liam has been training him and watching him grow since then, but even though he will 100% be fair and neutral while judging the proposals of every employee, he was counting on Edwin to win.

 

He had to order Edwin to even participate because he didn’t believe in himself. 

 

Liam has seen what he could do several times and knows that he deserves a better position in the company as long as he earns it.

 

“What do you think?” Liam asked Blake when they left the conference room.

 

“They all did well, but I like Edwin’s proposal. We have to take time to go through everything before we come to a conclusion though” Blake replied and Liam agreed.

 

“So, is Isaac done going over the contract Bill Corp sent to us?” Blake asked, but they were interrupted before Liam could respond.

 

“Sir, there are articles about you all over the internet”

 

Liam and Blake both brought out their phones immediately, and Liam saw the news about him.

 

He has always tried to keep his private life from the public eyes due to what happened to his friend, Isaac, and his ex-wife Jada. The media tore the two of them apart, and their relationship could never remain the same after that.

 

He couldn’t believe that the media would make up such lies about him when he saw the headlines.

 

He was surprised when he saw that the post was about him and the coffee girl.

 

“Liam, are you dating her for real??? Oh my goodness is that why you always ruin the blind dates I suffered to set up for you from the beginning of this year” Blake stated, with bewilderment purely written on his face and shown in his voice.

 

Liam just read the news silently.

 

“Valencia's corporation has admitted you are dating their eldest daughter, and you two are getting married” 

 

Liam looked puzzled at the news. He only met her twice, and the media already made it look like they had met multiple times.

 

The media even shared a photo of them wearing a similar hoodie, bracelet, a necklace, and anklet made with a letter L, to them, it's L for Liam.

 

The whole thing felt fabricated and blown out of proportion, leaving Liam feeling puzzled and confused.

 

The media define the similar hoodie, and bracelet as a couple item, while the necklace and anklet should be given to her as a gift by Liam.

 

Liam saw an official statement from Valencia's corporation admitting he was in a relationship with Ashley.

 

Someone he barely met twice.

 

He further saw his high school yearbook picture and saw that Ashley attended the same high school he attended.

 

Liam was surprised to find out that they attended the same school, but the media are making it look like they have been dating for more years and are some high school sweetheart.

 

He knows better than to think that the media just came up with all these stories though and it is obvious the person who did the whole thing was. It was the girl who he thought was innocent and lovely but turns out to be a conniving bitch just like her father, Ashley Valencia.

 

“Sir, should we deny it?”

 

Liam was about to say that he should post an article denying the claims when he got a call from Alexandra Ross, one of the business man he had been trying to partner with for a project.

 

Mr. Ross is quite a family man and a conservative man who believes partnering with a bachelor like Liam would not be good for the image he had been building for his business for years.

 

Everyone in the business world knew that he was a man that valued family and community over everything. Liam had thought with solid business proposal, Mr. Ross wouldn’t be able to say no to him but he did.

 

“As much as I think that you are a standup guy Liam, I cannot afford to damage my reputation by partnering with a bachelor who has never had a public relationship. My business needs someone that has the same values with us” he had said to a very much disappointed Liam.

 

 

He told Liam that he would work with him since he was now in a public relationship with Ashley. 

 

Liam was so happy after the call and told Liam about what Mr. Alexander Ross said.

 

“You are dating her for real, so why are you not admitting it; do you want to deny it??” Blake asked.

 

“I'm not dating her. I only met her twice. Isaac and I had bumped into her in a café a few days ago, and I met her at the charity gala I attended yesterday”.

 

“Are you serious??”

 

“I'm surprised that the Valencia Corporation is admitting to it,” Liam said. “She must be a conniving bitch just like her father but I’m just going to let this happens since it is actually helping our business”

 

 

The Valencia’s family lived a very public life, but he could tell that she was very private and had never had a scandal, which makes the whole thing more confusing. He couldn’t help but wonder why she and her family announced that she was his fiancée.

 

He knew that he had seen her somewhere though but seeing her pictures from when they were in high school made him remember how he knew her.

 

He would love to know more about her, and he couldn't help but reminisce on how she hesitated to dance with him at first before accepting. He also know that he could not afford to get played by her because if she actually create a whole scandal overnight, she could do much more to his business.

 

How she danced for a few minutes, and he avoided him until the event ended.

 

“So are we going to do about this? Mr. Ross thinks that you are in a real relationship with her.” Blake asked.

 

“Well, I am going to give her exactly what she wants” Liam said with a smirk on his face.
