Chapter 2 - The Accident

Geena walked into her office, face down reading a document and went straight for her seat. Dariel wasn't sure how to address her in his greeting, he stuttered “Go…. Good….Good morning ma'am”.

Geena lifted her head up and was somehow shocked and happy to see Dariel. She knew she would see him again but she didn't expect it to be so soon.

“Dariel right?”, she asked with a smirk.

“Yes ma'am”.

“I remember you from the elevator this morning, I didn't know you work here” she stated.

“Ye….yes….ye ma'am, I'm one of the janitors here”, Dariel almost lost control of the cleaning rag in his hand, he still couldn't believe that it was his boss he was talking to so casually in the elevator. He just hoped it wouldn't affect his job.

“Dariel, can you please stop with the ‘ma’am’ thing - I already told you my name. Geena” she said, surprised at the formality.

“I'm sorry ma'am, umm, no I mean Geena, I had no idea who you were”, he started packing up his tools. “I'm sorry, I have finished cleaning”.

With that Dariel hurried out of the office, he sure needed a secret place to express the shock he was feeling. Geena watched him stepping out and was surprised at his sudden lack of joviality which he displayed earlier on at the elevator.

Geena closed her laptop and started packing few documents to go when Sophia walked in.

“Hey girrrrrllllll” Sophia greeted. Sophia had been Geena's friend since high school. University separated them for a while but the bond become stronger when Sophia started working at Stones Conglomerate. When it came to closeness and trust, Sophia was one person Geena could rely on fully.

“Hey Soph”, Geena replied tiredly, the day's workload had really dealt with her. ‘Soph’ was the nickname that Geena and only Geena used on Sophia.

“You look drained”, Sophia observed.

“Yes, my love, today has really had its toll on me” Geena answered.

“So sorry about that, it's the price you pay for being a billionaire CEO” Sophia teased.

“Well, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do” Geena recited and they both laughed.

“You're heading home, Geena?”

“Obviously, I'm not sure I can do anything else today”.

“Okay then, lemme quickly get my things, so you can drop me at home, I'm not sure I can use a cab right now”.

“No problem Soph, be snappy or you may end up using a cab” Geena added with a laugh.

They walked down to the car together and the driver started off, first to Sophia's place before going to Geena’s.

Geena thought of Dariel again and decided to tell her friend about him.

“So….” Geena started “there's this ….”

“Guy”, Sophia completed the sentence for her and they burst out laughing.

“How did you know what I was about to say?” Geena demanded.

“Well, my love, I've been your friend for more than 7 years now and I think I've been able to identify all your smiles” Sophia said jokingly.

“You have your ‘I met a new guy' smile”.

“Okay Soph, you've caught me. Sooooooooo, I met a guy at the elevator 3 or 4 days ago and my God!!!! The boy was fineeeeeee. His sea blue eyes would have you falling in love over and over again” Geena said, trying so hard not to blush.

“And?” Sophia inquired, showing so much interest in the story.

“We talked a little and he said he'd love me to see me again. We met again on the same day and I discovered he was a janitor at the office” Geena revealed.

“Janitor, you mean a janitor gave you all these butterflies in your belle?” Sophia inquired.

“Noooo Soph, you don't have to sound that way, he's still a human being despite being a janitor” Geena assured.

“No Geena, that's not my angle. All I'm trying to say is that you've had a lot of heartbreaks from men who loved only your money, you should be more careful, that's all”.

“I understand you my friend, and I know you've got my back but there's no harm in trying, it's actually a long time since a man made me feel this way”. With this, they both laughed heartily.

Sophia was dropped at home and after they exchanged pleasantries, the driver headed straight for Geena's. Rain started drizzling and the roads became a little difficult to see from the tinted glasses of the car.

But Geena was certain her driver could handle anything, after all, he had been doing that perfectly for years.

Fiddling her phone, the driver suddenly matched the brake and the car came to a quick stop. She wasn't sure but it seemed like someone was hit.

“What happened?” she asked the driver.

Trying to open the door, he replied, “Ma'am, I think I may have accidentally hit someone”.

Without any delay, Geena opened her door and went down to check who was hit and out of everyone her driver thought to hit, lying unconscious on the floor was Dariel, Dariel Montague!!!!!
